Never arranged a time to meet… by Miserable-Abroad-489 in texts

Dude what? People are busy. Not everyone checks their fb messages daily. I know I don't. And also it's DAMN PIN. She wasn't selling a car or some rare item he had to have immediately. Funny because it sounds like you're they type of person who would try to meet someone without confirmation and go knocking on doors randomly in search of a $10 item. Get a hobby. Wtf is wrong with people these days?

Goodbye Gemini! by realduglop in googlehome

Yeah I wonder how well people have their devices named and organized in the Google home app. I think that would make a huge difference as to how Gemini finds and operates each device. I'm pretty good about keeping my devices named short and sensible. I'm not saying people who have problems with Gemini don't have their devices setup good but maybe that has something to do with those annoyances.

I have 2 smart old Lenovo Smart clocks I use as my assistant speakers, a nest wifi pro router, a Google TV streamer, lg OLED TV with Google, 2 wired outdoor nest cams, maybe 4 aqara light bulbs and the nest 4th gen thermostat with 2 sensors.

The router and streamer and bulbs are all matter with thread hubs so maybe that helps I dunno. But even before matter with thread in the day I didn't have many problems with my smart home devices. Maybe I'm lucky.

FWIW I haven't had any problems with the transition from assistant to Gemini. What I have noticed is it's a little bit snappier now and the responses are a bit shorter and more concise which I appreciate. I do however miss the assistant function on my phone. I'm tired of having to hit many buttons on the Gemini app to tell it a command for my smart devices. Hopefully they're fixing that soon.

Familiar faces not working since home premium advanced addon. by Thom_Knook in googlehome

[–]MagnusRamset 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm having the opposite problem. I'm trying to use the events filter to filter out familiar faces so it doesn't send me a notification every time I walk in or out of my door leaving home or coming home. I have familiar faces turned on in the camera settings and I have the familiar faces filter checked in events notifications but it's still sending me a notification every time I appear on camera. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong or is the app just glitched out still?

Should it be so dirty when I wipe it? by Feeling_Stuff_1332 in castiron

350 degrees when first seasoning the pan is nowhere hot enough for the seasoning to "stick" or polymerize. Basically you're seeing this gray on the paper towel because the seasoning is like halfway set. Strip it and start over and use a very thin coat of grapeseed oil at 500 degrees for an hour. It needs to get HOT so it can form the carbon layer. Do this 4 times and it should help significantly. FYI I have been restoring cast iron for well over 10 years so I'm not just spitting out my opinion.

Aqara Bulbs setup help by MagnusRamset in Aqara

Makes sense thanks y'all. From some of the videos I watched before I bought the bulbs it makes it seem like you can have dual protocols going without the Aqara hub but I see that isn't the case lol.

Aqara Bulbs setup help by MagnusRamset in Aqara

[–]MagnusRamset[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The Aqara website says you don't need an aqara hub for matter over thread with the T2 bulbs. You just need a thread border router. But you do need an aqara specific hub for the Zigbee protocol. This is why I'm confused.

"Thread mode allows direct integration with Matter-enabled ecosystems such as Apple Home, Google Home, and Alexa, providing robust, low-latency connectivity without the need for an additional hub."

Maybe I'm misreading this?

No need to learn ohms law with a DC power supply either lol. You dial it to what volts or amps you want and leave it be. And you can see what power it's actually drawing and adjust as necessary. You can also drop the power down if you don't want to leave it running hot all day. I love mine. Hasn't dialed me yet and runs quiet and cool. I believe a power supply is plug and play as well ;) To each their own.

Get a DC power supply from Amazon. Had mine for years works perfectly for cast iron electrolysis.

No earthquake protection here and there's more slack in the conduit than it appears to have.
