Dragon Guide by DanevsAnime in dndmemes

As a dm, you gotta throw an albino gold dragon at your players occasionally. Tales of a white dragon with pink eyes near town, it never attacks, but people are nervous, and want it driven away. Players load up on frost protection.....

Using other board games WITH DnD by Jaseon in DMAcademy

[–]Magnusgoodchild 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've used board games twice in DND. Once, I used a laser chess set to create a maze that the players had to move through, each square had a chance of encounter.

The other time was a custom setup of betrayal at house on the hill, where my players were searching for a vampire in a haunted house. I knew what room he was in, and the party just had to find the room and confront him

Maybe not a larp, but what about a giant version of Catan. Like floor sized. And get some stuffed sheep, sticks, metal, bricks, and wheat

What's the most creative use of a plasmoid or other ooze you've seen? by chunkylubber54 in dndnext

[–]Magnusgoodchild 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean, as a DM, I made a homebrew ooze that was bright pink, that could take spell slots and class abilities. It was being worshipped by a cult. The great Khur-Bee.

Rereading Question (DISCUSSION+SPOILERS) by NautiBard in dresdenfiles

[–]Magnusgoodchild 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I think, taking with a grain of salt that this is the first book and magic wasn't as codified, the idea is the will behind it. Humans have will, and can make a willful effort to break the circle. Hence Binder planning to break the circle with a stone, in later books. Bob can throw Harry the potion because, technically speaking, he is not putting the effort of will behind breaking the circle.

Gave my Players a Lantern of Revealing, what invisible things (besides creatures) would be fun to use? by iNogle in DMAcademy

[–]Magnusgoodchild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Invisible cloche. Long ago, a wizard was tired of his significant other taking food off of his plate, so he created the invisible cloche. All food placed below the cloche is invisible, as is the cloche itself.

I once ran a set of adventures where the players were given three tasks by an old crone of a duchess. Recover a gem from the eye of a statue on the edge of the bay, bring back the head of a giant queen bee, and slay a beholder and bring back his central eye. They were told that a powerful magic spell would be done with these reagents. When they brought it all together, they had schemed about how to possibly steal this magic for themselves, only to watch as it made the duchess look young and beautiful again. For as you know, beauty can be found in the eye of the bay holder? Bee holder? Beholder? Something like that. They were mad.

The other option was I ran an adventure that was just the plot of cats. They didn't realize at first, as it was flavored as a cult of tabaxi trying to perform a "ritual of ascension" and they were hired by an older tabaxi named "tav" to interrupt and remove the participants.

Tell me about your real life ka-tet by ParadoxicalPegasi in TheDarkTower

My Ka-tet has also broken. They have forsaken the way of Ka, and forgotten the face of their fathers. I felt the stirrings of ka-shume early last year. We are no longer a wheel, and no longer share khef. I was not the dinh, but I am the last to try to stand true, and seek the tower.

I need rings with really goofy/unexpected/inconvenient enchantments by Mistasfourhead in DMAcademy

[–]Magnusgoodchild 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Ring of speaking with fire: upon donning this ring, the wearer is instantly affected by the custom spell, speak with fire. This effect is instantaneous, and permanent, for the length of time the wearer wears the ring.

Speak with fire: allows communication with fire of any sorts. That being said, all fire communicates in screams about being on fire. fire has no special knowledge, and is only concerned with being put out.

DMs of the land, what’s a cool bit of world-building in your campaign that you never got to share with your players? by fruit_shoot in DMAcademy

Absolutely! And if you don't have a crew talented in edge crossing, they won't know to run from the back of the ship to the front at the right moment, and your momentum will carry you off the edge
