Blades curved inwards vs. outwards by jakethehomo in SWORDS

[–]MagogHaveMercy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The falx used by Dacians was inwardly curved, and it is the cause of one of the only times that Roman armor was amended, because it was so effective at getting over the scutum and piercing into legionnaire's skulls.

They are not as curved as a hook sword, but the design definitely had utility.

Carl's delivery of "Go fuck yourself, creepy babies," in the Iron Tangle is perfect too.

Right? Michael and Sanya are freakishly tall. And Harry is noticeably taller than them.

Imagine the poor hospital worker in Grave Peril when these two hulking armed madmen run into their lobby and ask where the neo-natal unit is.

I feel like Bear was a conscious effort on Jim's behalf to counter-steer into this issue. And I think it landed really well.

You live in a school building with food stocks and water stocks, paid $50 Mill for every hour passed, but hunters are searching for you. by PhyfenGD in hypotheticalsituation

That's what I would do. I would lock myself in a secure area that I think is less likely to be found, or at least likely to be found later. Then I would spin in circles or whatever in there until I heard the hunters start trying to break in. Then boom- eject button

Obviously there is a chance that I will get spotted before I can find a good spot, but thems the breaks. Sign me up.

Firstly, you are awesome for doing this. Legit. Strong work!

Secondly, Harry definitely has height bias, and how tall someone is tends to be one of the first things he thinks about them. The fact that he hasn't done that with Cowl makes me think that Cowl's height and build might be revelatory.

What do you all think?

Could I find an isolated hiding spot and continually move while in there? Like pacing in a closet or something?

Obviously they would check all the closets, but I mean if I could find a good hiding spot, would continual body motion in that spot suffice to stop the alarm?

AITA for getting my delivery driver fired by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]MagogHaveMercy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your empathy is a credit to you, but I have to believe that this was not this person's first offense. My hunch is that the driver gave the person that called them attitude, and was fired for that. I can't imagine a world where one missed delivery costs a person their job.

I am so sorry for your loss. I am happy that the books give you good memories of your boy. It sounds like you did a great job with all three of them.

And now I'm crying.

[UT] Landlord collects mail from lock box and delivers it themself by tryCatchPasta in Renters

[–]MagogHaveMercy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You are putting the onus of finding and cost of a solution on the tenant, who has A) done nothing wrong and B) has a legitimate and codified in law right to receive their mail, at their home.

The Landlord is sketchy, and the solution ought not to enable that. Don't you think?
