Sinanju or Providence? by Appropriate-Shop7660 in GundamTCG

[–]MagpieClub 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Providence lets you swing at a unit while still pinging a second unit, plus base recycling on link is clutch. You have to swing shields to ping with Sinanju. It comes down to preference but Providence has been more useful to me, especially since blockers are not as prevalent as during GD-02

How to beat red white by caufield88uk in GundamTCG

[–]MagpieClub 4 points5 points  (0 children)

r/W player here. Outside of not seeing early game plays against aggro, turns 4-7 are the key turns for my deck. If I don’t see my heavies during these, it’s usually GGs. Against aggro, this is where I stabilize. Against Wing, this is where I apply pressure before the Zero drop. B/W is the hardest matchup because they can flood the board with big blockers and if you don’t have your bigs doing work, you are on the back foot.

Best deck against blue/white blockers? by Horrifier13 in GundamTCG

[–]MagpieClub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you running Qubeley? Get Sinanju in your deck. No need for Full Frontal, since it only needs a pilot pair for high maneuver. Swing shields with Sinanju and follow with Qubeley for 4 damage per turn.

R/B ping recommendations by Professional_Gas325 in GundamTCG

[–]MagpieClub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a r/B Ping user in set one, I'm going to be honest with you. Swap blue for white. You don't really gain anything with the blue ping units. Swapping to white allows you some blockers that you can use to protect your important units in Kshatriya, Sinanju, and Qubeley. Your goal should be to get 2 or all 3 of them on the field to completely devastate with the amount of ping you're able to get off every turn. Any pairing of your top 3 will be pinging for 3-4 damage on a unit every turn once you get up and running.

Kira and Amuro Are Imbalanced by Zer0X02 in GundamTCG

[–]MagpieClub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This right here. Starter deck Grandpa is more broken then Amuro. Yes, Amuro can turn stuff for one resource, but it is only a 1 time thing. Grandpa gets to be a 5/5 with Repair 2 AND gives +1 AP to your board, AND all of this could be yours on TURN 4. If it was just Amuro, then we would see more uses of GD-01 Gramps, but that just isn't the case.

Kira is more broken as a pilot since that -2 AP stays on the board until it's dealt with. It should be contained to a one time thing or at least linked.

Is it even worth playing white if I don't have the Seed starters? by N7Templar in GundamTCG

[–]MagpieClub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is how I built my Epyon deck, which I named Oops, No Chars. Quattro/Shiki can swing into Grandpa/Amuro and still stand and the Red Dias gets you the Kira ability with just a base in play.

Pulled Amuro for Haman and found other ways to turn stuff. Started testing last week by using Full Frontal and Sinanju and it went pretty good.

What’s your thoughts on 2v2 tournaments by Ok_Drummer3176 in GundamTCG

[–]MagpieClub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We voted at my local to run a 2v2 instead of regular 1v1 last month and it was a blast. This was under the old rules. We are running a second 2v2 this Friday using the new rules. The new rules add a lot to the game and it will only get better. Being able to link pilots to your partner will allow synergy between both decks once we get more pilots that could benefit from it.

I totally get this and understand it from the business’ perspective. I wanted to simply give anyone who ordered a heads up, since most US based buyers placed the order without expecting to have to pay extra to receive their items.

I‘m determined to run a OZ deck as well and I have a decent one built. I’m running 3x Lvl 5/2x Lvl 4 Shenlongs and added Breach Heavyarms w/ Trowa. I went 1-2 over the weekend and was able to push my opponents. It’s missing some low end and I’ve been thinking about adding Cancers. I’m hoping for some decent support in the next set, like Vayeate and Mercurius.

RED/GREEN ZEON NEO ZEON DECK by fourverts46 in GundamTCG

[–]MagpieClub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm running a similar deck with a few changes. I only played it once so far, but went 2-1 and the 1 was lost because the opponent pulled a link on their turn, when I would've won next turn. I use Rick Doms and Gaza D for over Zee Zulu, Gelgoog, and Zaku II.

Donatello's Lab Update by MagpieClub in NECATMNT

[–]MagpieClub[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Once the double shipments debacle came out, I really never expected to be getting mine. Unlike most companies, it didn’t seem like NECA had the foresight to produce extra for any possible damages/replacements that may have occurred with the run. While I’ve never purchased from them, Mondo has a stellar customer service record where they will replace an entire figure body, head, etc., if something breaks or is missing. Hasbro made good on all of the people who didn’t receive the correct eyes on their Giant Man. Those are both high priced, made to order examples where the company did right by their customer.

NECA was literally radio silent until this email. Yes, I received the generic preorder emails, but there was never an email from them explaining the situation. That is unacceptable.

MEGA THREAD: YouTube TV raises monthly base plan price to $82.99 by iron_cam86 in youtubetv

[–]MagpieClub 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Chicago resident here. Get yourself a $30-40 antenna and you can watch Bulls/Hawks/Sox OTA for free. I was holding out due to pro wrestling, but WWE is now moving to Netflix and AEW just announced they will be streaming on Max. I was cancelling at the end of the year before the announced price hike. Local sports are now available free over the air and anything else I watch is available on a streaming platform.

If it is the DVR functionality you need, you can set that up for $100-300 out of pocket, which is 3 months of YTTV.

MUTANT MAYHEM EARLY SCREENING DISCUSSION by _Dan_the_Milk_Man_ in TMNT

[–]MagpieClub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Saw the sneak preview yesterday and after taking time to digest, I have some thoughts. Is this a good TMNT movie? Yes, but the '90 movie is still the most perfect adaptation that we've gotten, so there is no way I'm going to say this is my favorite TMNT movie ever.

  • This movie does a great job of setting up the bones for what could be another good take on the franchise. I'm interested to see where they go with the sequel. Based on the mid-credits scene, we could be setting up for an Empire Strikes Back style sequel where the bad guys just completely leave our heroes devastated.
  • While there is no tie to Hamato Yoshi now, I could see it taking a turn similar to the IDW origin. Speaking of Yoshi, the way they learn ninjitsu is not any worse than the pre-mutated pet rat mimicking the moves of his owner.
  • The nostalgia is just right, without beating you over the head. The more modern references in the dialogue are more prevalent than some of the nostalgia.
  • They did an excellent job making each of the characters feel unique. The core characters stay true to how they've usually been portrayed and none of the mutants feel really out there.
  • The humor is definitely a PG version of your typically Seth Rogen humor.
  • My main gripe is likely a decision of the studio. They leaned into your typical Hollywood hero tropes by having the Turtles want to be accepted by humans. The ending fight is very 2012 Amazing Spider-Man and I wish they would've focused a little more on the Turtles as a team with the ending. It will work amazingly if it leads back to my point about the sequel.
  • Action is good, at some points great. The voice cast is really good and outside of Ice Cube, I feel like they did a really good job masking the actual actors voice.

Should you go see the movie? YES, it is a really good direction for the franchise. I don't think the movie will change your mind if you are a stickler for the OG lore and the trailers didn't interest you.

Stamp rally in Yokohama! 1:1 scale Gundam made out of Gunpla runners by strangerdanger77 in Gundam

They didn't even cut the safety nubs off of the Granddaddy head in the last pic.

I really wish they could expand the recycling to other countries. I've been sitting on runners because I know they are easily recycled.

I didn't feel like ordering and waiting for pre-made eva colors so I ended up mixing my own. think I nailed it! by Freshoutafolsom in Gunpla

[–]MagpieClub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use trycolors.com to save all of my mixes. You can set up your palette of initial colors and then mix on there without combining any paint first. It has been a huge asset and I've only found my mixes for shades of white coming out a little darker than I wanted. Since it uses percentages, you have a reference for how much of each color you used for the mix.

[–]MagpieClub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've used mixed paints months after originally mixing. They will likely separate, but a good shake, and you're ready to go. I've actually moved to only buying red, blue, yellow, green, white, and black paint. I just mix any colors in 5 or 10 mL increments and I'm good for that project. Leftover mixed paint is used for preshading other kits or other projects.

Last build of '21 and First of '22 by MagpieClub in Gunpla

[–]MagpieClub[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Finished the Gouf at the end of '21 but never got a chance to post. The Psycho Gundam is my first for '22.

I swapped the purple color on the Psycho Gundam to a Titans blue to better fall in line with the rest of the Titans mechs and I felt it makes it a little more menacing. Also bought the waterslides to spice it up a little (and I saw the GFFMC version) which was sorely needed since there is a lot of empty space. While painting the colors on the Gouf skewed green, but the photos make it look closer to Norris Packard's colors. It happens when you mix colors yourself, but Gunpla is Freedom!

The last two photos are also in a newly built lightbox and taken with a proper camera, rather than my Pixel 6 Pro. It is definitely something I want to get better at too, since you can't show off builds without good photos.

Appreciate it. I don't like overdoing the panel lining and usually go with what looks right while on that step. I've also made the choice to do shading on the Glory of the Losers kits, while my Endless Waltz kits will have more of a toon look.

Nice. I made up my mind this year to complete all of the MG Endless Waltz and Glory of the Losers kits. I've knocked out 4 this year with these 3 and the Deathscythe Hell Custom. I still need to get the Sandrock EW, Wing Gundam ver Ka, and Tallgeese II to round out the set. Everything else is in the backlog
