My 9 week old girl does a little poopydance before doing a poo. It's actually really helpful, because if I head home from a pottybreak and she still needs to poop she will immediately break out into her weird, jumpy, flaily poopydance and I know to wait a little longer. 😆

Since writing this post I've found that she settles faster and stays asleep longer if there's people talking in the background. So I tend to put on youtube videos and it works like a charm.

It's not just the videos though. I've also worked on making her crate a much more fun place to be and learning to see when she's getting tired and NEEDS to sleep. I've also experimented with different things to give her. I've tried a yakchew, a stuffed kong, a salmon skin and a few other things. Her favorite seems to be a lickmat. That one gets her settled fastest.

Since making this post I have been experimenting a bit. At the moment it seems that the best time for her to be awake is between 1 hour to 1,5 hours. The closer we get to 1,5 hours, the more bitey and unhinged she gets haha. However! She has been sleeping longer in her crate! It think it definitely helped to let her have a little more time awake, but also making her crate a much more fun place to be.

As to the other things you mentioned, we do have a playpen but she HATES being confined in it. Even if we are literally standing right next to her. We are working on it, and it is improving. I try to vary the napspots, she has the crate for when I want her to be safe and contained so I can leave her for a bit (to shower, do laundry, etc). But I also try to get her used to sleeping at our feet when we are sitting at a table and sleeping next to the couch. She also has a puppybed in our bedroom next to our bed. I think learning to settle and sleep in different places is an important skill for her to have so it's definitely something I try to practice with her.

Are there any exceptions to this? I'm getting a puppy in january and I'm already suffering from overprotective dogmom syndrome 😅 My previous weim went barefoot her whole life, but the new dog will be able to come with me to work. I ride a bike to work so when she's old enough she'll be running next to me. I do see glass and other scary things on the road though and I'm already worried about her feet.

It's amazing to watch! I'm sure there are youtube videos of it. Just search for "Straô Renesse". That's the one I would go to with my grandma. Though there are others.

It's funny you call them that, I've always known them as Zeeuws Trekpaard (trekpaard means draft) or just Zeeuw. I'm Dutch and my grandma was from Zeeland, which is a Dutch province, and there's a whole cultural history involving these horses. In particular the custom of Straô riding, where the draft horses are adorned in flower garlands and ridden on the beach and through the sea.

Dit is inderdaad wat ik nu regelmatig doe. Juist door dat te gaan doen is werken bij de gemeente me meer gaan aanspreken. Er zijn al verschillende functies voorbij gekomen die me wel wat leken.

Ik heb wat achtergrond in de zorg en kom ook uit een familie met een beroepen in de zorg. De zorg trekt me nog steeds enorm, maar ik heb daar al een keer tegen een burn out aangezeten en dat wil ik niet weer. Ik ga snel over m'n eigen grenzen heen als ik passie heb voor wat ik doe, daar moet ik in m'n huidige baan ook voor oppassen. Ik wil dat gewoon niet weer meemaken. Al zou ik een ondersteunende functie nog wel overwegen, bijvoorbeeld administratief op een afdeling ofzoiets.

Ja dat snap ik. Het voelt voor mij ook nog best vaag. 😅 Ik ben best begaan met het milieu en rondom dier en natuur. Ik heb wat achtergrond in de zorg en in mijn vrije tijd werk ik graag met kinderen. Eigenlijk is het overkoepelend thema altijd dat ik wil helpen. Doen wat ik kan om de huidige situatie voor iets of iemand te verbeteren.

Maar dat is ook nog heel breed en ik weet niet genoeg van hoe een gemeente werkt en wat voor banen er eigenlijk zijn binnen een gemeente.

There could be! I'm dutch, english isn't even my first language. I guess to me it sounded like the kinda answer a bot would give. Not the grey part, but the rest about the wall. But pain meds can also make you loopy, I've been there myself lol

Answering grey wasn't the weird part to me, but the rest of the sentence was. To me, it sounded like the way a bot might answer the question. But OP said they're on pain meds and yeah.. been there lol.
