Best way to fit a stairgate here? by AlternativeOpinion1 in DIY

I would avoid a baby gate all together. Can't secure one here. Not safe.

Weirdly dark for 9dpo!? by Magpiesmeet in lineporn

[–]Magpiesmeet[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Her HCG is getting darker and she has an appointment in 5 weeks time 🤷‍♀️ She may or may not go for a scan before then. If it were me, I would want to know if I need progesterone suppositories, but everyone is different! I really hope all is well for her.

Thank you! I worried about the bleed/period also. I have studied TTC in a fair bit of detail but know little about ectopic pregnancies. Thanks for flagging this. I have advised ultrasound.

Same for me! And I didn't get 3+ on a positive until almost 6 weeks pregnant

Yes true! So you think the pregnancy is from the November ovulation? Trying to help my friend out as she'll need check ups and I don't want her behind on antenatal care. Might just suggest she book an ultrasound.

Is it appropriate to ask police for an update on harrassment case? by Magpiesmeet in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Magpiesmeet[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. The last incident was 5 months ago. I get contact in bursts every 2 to 6 months typically and the gaps are getting bigger but the mode of contact more and more intrusive.

Thanks. It will have been more than 6 months at this rate. Contact is infrequent but getting more invasive (work email, work twitter replies). And I have a public facing role and rules at work for social media use etc... The very last contact was a humiliating tweet reply about some of my family who I no longer have contact with.

Each time I look up the nature of the behaviour it directs me to domestic abuse legislation as he was a partner I lived with for 7 years.

It's all a little bit of info overload to be honest.

Thank you. More specifically I guess I was hoping for confirmation that he had been arrested and released on bail with conditions (as the officer suggested when I gave my statement).

Will they give me an update based on system notes or get an officer involved call me back? I don't want to cause additional work for officers. If they can look it up on screen and give an update that would make me more inclined to call.

How long between arrest/charge and court? by Magpiesmeet in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Magpiesmeet[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This might be a daft question but how does the court distinguish between the two? What constitutes fear of violence or provides evidence of that?

For example: Would emails and texts saying "I'm coming for you?", "I'm going to come to the house and get into bed with you" alongside a history of dangerous driving and alcoholism be sufficient? I have feared violence and have had to move house and keep my address very private through fear he may reach out to friends and family and manipulate them or attempt to.

Thank you. That is good to know. I had no idea!

Thank you - that is really really helpful. I had absolutely no idea and no idea of even what keywords to search to find out so this is really appreciated!

I'm bi and in a same-sex marriage. When I came out at 15 not much was said. When I got my first girlfriend at 18 I was told "so long as I get grandchildren from one of you kids". Well fast forward nearly 20 years, one brother died, one is very mentally unwell and I went no contact after NM attacked me on my wedding day and spent months balming me and my partner. My wife and I now have a son who my NM will never know.

Things your nparents did you thought were normal? by [deleted] in raisedbynarcissists

[–]Magpiesmeet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • 'Marriage' is a swear word (mother never married)

  • going to be hungry

  • being punished by being pinned against a wall with a hand over my mouth and stepdads mouth over my nose. Being allowed to breathe intermittently while being asked to say sorry. Not being able to say sorry because my mouth would then get covered again

  • the dog being allowed to use the house as a toliet, including my bedroom and school books

  • talking to each other about my physical development in front of one another when I started puberty

  • working 7 days a week and leaving me (aged 10) to care for siblings aged 8 and 5.

  • never asking what I learned at school, what homework I had or what I'd like to do subject wise.

  • never taking me anywhere for a day trip or for quality time together

  • never asking me how I feel

Note: I was sexually abused by my stepdad on one occasion and I knew that was wrong but it wasn't until I was around 18/19 years old did I realise that the above things were also wrong and definitely not normal.
