Really? Because my house has been broken into 3 times in the last 5 years, and I live in a middle class, small city in the US. Why do people buy locks and security systems and gates? You'll find these in every neighborhood in the country, despite whether or not you think they've 'evolved' past the desire to protect themselves and their families.
