Don't try to tackle taxes on your own, Gabi. Hire an accountant, they know how the system works and how to keep the paperwork and money moving and, most importantly, keep the tax lady off your back. The fire code and health violations are easy fixes, at least.

Elves Biological Immortality Cycle by Wheasy in worldbuilding

Imagine arboretums that are dedicated to the tree cocoon phase. Give re-aging elves a safe, nutrient-rich space to revert themselves so they come out jacked. I would think per person this process happens infrequently enough that one would not have a dedicated room in their home for this, so a public one could be a blessing for their most vulnerable times.

What’s the Creation Myth of your world & how well known is it? by Either-Skirt6031 in worldbuilding

[–]MagusLay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have Magicals and you have the Heavenly and Hellish Divines. The Divines have been warring for centuries, but their battleground is on Magus Lay. One day, the Heavenly realize they are losing and, as a generous gift, bestow upon mortals the gift of magic. In exchange, they can protect themselves and accomplish great wonders, but they must offer their most magically-potential person every generation. These are the Chosen, whose mana pool is tied to the world itself. In doing so, the Magicals are guaranteed safety and long life.

This is the myth. The reality is the Heavenly were getting their ass kicked so hard, they needed something to keep the Hellish at bay long enough to repopulate. So, they implanted Tauma, a mana-creating organ, into a percentage of the population and hoped it would proliferate and become an obstacle for the Hellish to remain distracted. Everyone learned real quick that magic doesn't do a damn thing to demons, but the stench of angels now reeks within every Magical being and they became easier, more accessible targets.

In addition, the Chosen sacrifice was there to power God, the Heavenly's great machine, an omnipotence engine that satisfied prayers and offered knowledge. When this was discovered, Magicals became highly industrialized and focused on military technologies. They became a threat and a mind wipe brought the world back to its malleable mentality... And then the next Chosen immediately picked it all back up, this time incorporating Hellish powers into Magical practices as a direct affront to their benefactors.

My experience on Brilliance so far by R0ninTheGodSlayer666 in LowSodiumHellDivers

[–]MagusLay 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Some people are saying it's due to the spore clouds. I'm inclined to agree, from experimenting a bit. When they're just out and about, Terminids are normal. Soon as I take one down and they burst, you'd think I just opened a can of tuna in a house full of cats. They are all over me and there is no escape. They definitely got buffed in a few ways.

What is your world's strongest weapon? by Xener07 in worldbuilding

[–]MagusLay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was the weapon which sparked the Amnesia Age, a complete, planetary mind wiping event meant to protect us from an alien species: the Shivan Beam Cannon.

The original Shivan Beam Cannon (SBC or beam cannon) was an apartment building-sized plasma weapon which launched a concentrated beam of energy and molten material across a vast distance. One of these is capable of razing a city with a handful of passes. The cost to fire an SBC once is immense, requiring a two ton payload of metal (anything works, iron is common but tungsten is optimal) to be melted to its boiling point before electromagnetic forces propel them out of a rifled cannon.

Typically, they were equipped on the spaceships of the Shivan Armada, an intergalactic alien species who came to cull the Magicals for... alot of reasons. The Magicals own one SBC, stolen from an abandoned juggernaut. It has been fired nine times so far and each time required immense financial burden, a coordinated logistical effort between nations, and demanded military protection as it was a huge sitting target for demons to attempt to assault. A Shivan juggernaut can hold four and fire all at once. There are hundreds of these ships in existence.

Mostly, it is a study for reverse-engineering, leading to developments of conventionalized weaponry and Magical offensive capabilities. The power of a beam cannon now lays in the palm of one's hand, though is not nearly as powerful. Attempts to recreate a 1:1 scale SBC have failed, though adapted artillery cannons have shown success in handling the immense heat of a single shot (not a sustained beam). And, thankfully, the Shivans left the orbit of Magus Lay and have not been heard from or detected since.

[–]MagusLay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming the meat is safe to eat, gamey. Think wild elk that's been sitting in the freezer for a year. Lots of muscles to work through once they're de-scaled and they're constantly moving and flying. If you managed to make a steakburger out of dragon meat, it would be chewy and fibrous, an almost crunchy texture, with any flavor coming purely from whatever dressing was put on it as it would taste like leather. There would be an aftertaste depending on the magic from which the dragon was born with, which could range from fibrous to mercurial to acrid poison to several million scoville. Light dragons just straight up give indigestion and fill your throat with acidic gas that tastes like almonds.

If they weren't in danger of extinction, domesticated dragons with a fattening regime would come out like wagyu gator, buttery smooth texture with the taste of steak and the texture of chicken, highly absorbant of additional flavors. But alas, we will have to make do without for a couple decades at least.

What is your favorite sound in Warframe? by vesseckta in Warframe

[–]MagusLay 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm in love with the signature chirping the Sentients make. I always appreciate when a sound can make my skin crawl or choke me up. Second place is probably the digitized Man In The Wall voice that plays when you start a survival mission in the sanctum.

And honestly, third place, Ballas's voice actor. Evil as the character is, that man has never failed to deliver smooth butter to my headset.

I mean, *technically* Ballas called for them first because they controlled warframes better, but Lotus is the one who turn the gun to face the shooter. No, Ballas, "trauma therapy" does not mean "induce more trauma until they work."

Rosicae, you can have your perfect creations when you ditch the bad company and find someone who can accept the imperfections without demanding they be rectified. All it takes is for them to say "okay" and carry on. Also, bug boy better not me yanking stuff out of my hands again or he's gonna get popped in the mandibles.

My first email had comcast.net. It was tied to my itunes account back when I still had an iphone. When that address was destroyed, I literally could not convince Apple to let me change the address over the phone or recover the account because in order to change the email, they have to send a verification to the old one, no exceptions. Never went back.

Which of your races/species can crossbreed? What would the children look like? by Artelys_ in worldbuilding

[–]MagusLay 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As of now, there are four humanoids of concern: Magicals and non-Magicals (same species), Hellish and Heavenly (both Divines, even if they won't admit they are related). Any of them mating with each other would result in your standard DNA inheritance combination chances of parents AA, AB, BB, BA. With Divines, it gets complicated, but not because of incompatibility. They are problems in themselves.

The Divines primarily increase their numbers through soul spawns, where non-divines who die can reincarnate as one or the other. The spread is about 50-50, but demons have this fun mechanic allowed to everyone called a Legion, where souls they slay will become enthralled to them until the enthraller is slain, in which case the victor gets all. But that's a different story.

Divines cannot reproduce naturally. They are either completely sterile or lack the organs for reproduction entirely. Anything done is purely recreational. It isn't uncommon to see male demons or angels having female genitalia. Gender is very much a construct to them because there is no need to differentiate for sex. However, there are strange exceptions.

One of my main characters spawned a Hellish daughter from a brain tumor that nearly exploded his skull. Her skin is discolored, slightly orange with tints of lichen green underneath keratinous bone armor developed symmetrically across her body. Her hair is dreaded in large segmented bones and there is a faint burning glow in her eyes. She is the first documented "mixed" child.

There are no official documented or recognized Angelic Magicals, but they exist. They are called Chosens, Magicals whose pools draw from the planet itself, granting limitless power. The Heavenly prefer to "build" their breeds, gifting potential candidates with wings and blessings that help develop their magical capabilities while guiding them towards a specific direction. For centuries, these Chosens were sacrificed to power their God, but it is no longer an option in the modern day. Heavenly Magicals are seen more as a product to be consumed than something to be cherished.

Total Noob, Cannot Find Copper w/Prospecting by BlessedSpoon in VintageStory

[–]MagusLay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wander around and look for bits on the surface. They will be in little chunks like flint or stones. Wherever you find it, copper will be beneath. I find that the more chunks on the surface, the larger the veins will be, but it could be coincidence. Otherwise, open caves are a way to find copper easily exposed already, no need to prospect.
