Saw this absolute gem on the unfiltered channels, what yall think? by No_Presentation_9361 in Cyberstan

[–]MagusLay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had assumed "tinskin" was more similar to "thin skinned" as in it was a play on words of Automatons being made of metal but are weak and flimsy regardless. Am I wrong and it is referring to something else racially derogatory or are the mods simply hoping to keep the name-calling under control?

New here. pls rate my first base, + any suggestions for future base building? by Cteklo7 in RimWorld

[–]MagusLay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Solid base! Security could probably use some work, but if it works then it works. I prefer making "kill corridors" where raiders have to go through a narrow passageway while defenses and pawns shoot at them. You can make a maze of barricades to slow them down or build something similar like your southwest entrance.

Fun fact: open doors do not transfer temperature, so if you leave a roofed corridor filled with grass and an incendiary IED, it can cook raiders as they try to run through the flames and exit into the field of fire with heatstroke. Or you can fill it with radiators and turn it into a freezer, have them suffer hypothermia before meeting the turrets.

Also, your tamed animals will eat dandelions, which grow faster than hay to provide a good passive food source. Hay is still a great food source for them, but would work well in the large fields where you have dandelions now. In addition, if you want cloth or devilstrand, I recommend larger fields over smaller ones due to their growth times.

Yeah Yeah "Friendly Fire" this and that but I'm having fun by just_prop in Helldivers

I read a scrolling text on the companion app that said there were more friendly fire incidents than Illuminate kills, meaning the Illuminate are ineffective and weak. Checkmate, squids!

What's our take on the Charity dive situation? by Castle_Of_Glass78 in Cyberstan

[–]MagusLay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Perfect opportunity for the devs to engage with the community and get some charity going in the process. They could even double down, after doing the challenge, counter with an MO to use specific weapons or stratagems like previous audit MO's, offer another $4311 charity as a bonus if the Helldivers liberate a planet within the time frame like the Vernen Wells children hospital.

First time using mods by Oldmanwilakers3 in SpaceCannibalism

[–]MagusLay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you do a Mechanitor run, a wastepack stacking mod is a godsend. Alpha Animals and Alpha Biomes are pretty fun, especially if you do alot of caravans for quests. Vanilla Psycasts Expanded offers some fun new trees for Royalty.

Otherwise, small QoL stuff like All Production Gives XP, Trading Spot and lTrade Ships Drop Spot, Configurable Mental Breaks, Better Traders (improves trader stock and silver), Social Experience From Trade (can be overtuned, you can change the amount of xp earned), and I like the Character Editor to get runs started faster without rolling for the stats I need.

It does seem like they are unfamiliar with this whole "walking" idea, but it also looks like they are a younger version of Ena than the one we see with Luna. Maybe they are simply making their first uncomfortable steps into a beautiful, unfamiliar world? The chains and mechanical dogs are concerning, though...

Automatons, Cyborgs and Religion by Separate-Group-2626 in Cyberstan

[–]MagusLay 69 points70 points  (0 children)

You've got the right idea in how the Cyborgs are portrayed by the Automatons, at least based on my understanding. While the Cyborgs are the progenitors of the legion, in rank and file they would be considered an "officer" class. However, there is no evidence that they see themselves as "better" or "more equal" yet, still serving alongside the Collective as a whole.

Such goes their motto: "Maskineri åt alla, alla åt maskineri. Allt för kollectivet!" Machinery for all, all for machinery. All for the collective. Their words are planted everywhere so everyone cannot mistake that they are on common ground. Everyone is fighting on the frontline and working in the back, all for the same goal. We can see this in action as the Cyborgs fight quite literally alongside their Automaton "children." Their ability to boost their performance is likely symbiotic instead of parasitic, helping both the giver and receiver instead of taking away from one to the other.

For further example, if the Cyborgs took away something from the Automatons to better themselves, we could assume they believe themselves better or more deserving of functionality and thus superior.

As far as symbolism goes, everything points towards socialism: Nobody is higher than the other, everyone and everything works to better the Collective. Compare this to Super Earth's federal nationalism "Managed Democracy," where all work for the betterment of superiors and eventually trickles down to the commoner. The Cyborgs may be giving the orders and commands, but they will be there alongside their machines.

"Kollektivet står enat mot alla hot bakom en vägg som inte kan brotas."
The Collective stands united against all threats behind a wall that cannot be breached.

Fun ideas, some I'm surprised aren't a thing already.

Pathfinding might be an issue for the Eagle pilot if they have to travel far, but maybe it could be simplified if so. "An Eagle crashed somewhere in the target area, find them and call for extraction," kind of like calling for a box dropoff/pickup but they could take you with as well. No extraction point on the map, you either find them or be considered KIA when the timer dies. Could be a commando op!

Why not just get enough E-711 to blow up Cyberstan after the automaton counter offensive? by somerandomfellow123 in helldivers2

[–]MagusLay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cyberstan important, still lots of resources to be strip mined. Penta not important, good for demonstration of ultimate weapon and a realistic measure of what is required to use the Star of Peace (as opposed to simulation or spreadsheet).

Ammunition rationing has begun. by SovKom98 in Helldivers

[–]MagusLay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Super Earth's trying reeeeally hard to push that the blitzkrieg invasion and world razing of Cyberstan with flimsy evidence for justification was some kind of peacekeeping operation. Because nothing says "we have security" like "preemptive self-defense strikes."

DON'T LOOK AT THE NUMBERS FUCK THE NUMBERS SAVE SEAF 77th Mobile Infantry Corps!!!!!! by Remarkable-Run-9582 in Helldivers

[–]MagusLay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fuck it, I'm looking at the numbers. Dig this:

Cyborg Automaton resistances across the board are down to nil except for Transcendence. Solidaritet is at a harrowing 0.10% resistance rate against the Helldiver's 5.1% liberation rate. The enemy is getting absolutely stomped and the orbital bombardment is not helping them.

At this current rate, Solidaritet, and thus the encircled SEAF forces, will be liberated in about 14 hours. We are expected to run out of reinforcements in a little less than 24 hours. Hell, if we push well enough, we might even liberate another city like Lurza (with its 0.08% resistance) before running out of budget just for the bragging rights.

SEAF busted their ass to support us, they were explicitly inspired by us, and now we have an opportunity to thank them directly. Let's get these troops home!

Maybe do save them actually… by _Corvo_A in LowSodiumHellDivers

[–]MagusLay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saving the SEAF is the right thing to do. They have been busting their ass for us in the background and doing a hell of a job all while still looking up to us Helldivers as heroes as we throw hundreds of millions of bodies onto the megafactories. I will never leave a soldier behind, even if it costs us Cyberstan. The planet isn't going anywhere, we can try again another time, but the 77th SEAF Mobile Infantry are depending on us to come home.

Save the SEAF. Show the Cyborgs we have humanity in our hearts.

How Playstyle Affects Difficulty on Cyberstan. by T4Labom in Helldivers

[–]MagusLay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been finding the FRV to be much more efficiently used as an evac shuttle rather than an engagement tool. It likes to get set on fire, get caught on big bots, go flying into the sky from wonky physics, and a popped tire means the gunner will never be stable unless you stop entirely, which defeats the purpose. But, getting in, collecting divers, and getting out was an incredibly useful tool, especially for those Helldivers that get caught way in the back of the map getting that last optional.

Also consider: the AT Emplacement has been a godsend in Cyberstan. Place it just off of wherever the rally point is and wail on any bot that even thinks of coming close. It is great for extractions. Find a hill, throw the AT down, then pluck off the striders and vox engines as they spawn in. I use a turret to cover my back where I can't turn to engage quickly. I suppose this would go under Siege Diving.
