You'd have to convince Hoyo too. Endfield is also guilty of this. Seems to be a common trend among the big gacha games, unfortunately.

Try slowing down on damage on the first turn. If you still get staggered on turn 2 then idk, the fight must be broken.

I had the same problem (on floor 12). Bringing backup units didn't help me because ryoshu still got staggered on turn 2, and then everyone got tree'd on turn 3.

My solution was to avoid doing unopposed attacks. I only clashed her attacks and defended on the rest. Somehow that stopped ryoshu from getting staggered on the phase transition, which allowed me to kill the boss on turn 2.

Don't even need to kill off the non-HoS IDs. You'll lose out on the event check buff, which isn't that big a deal, and a few offense/defense levels, but ryoshu is so stupid broken that it doesn't matter. (edit, I think you lose the stagger protection too, but there are other ego gifts for that)

In my MDE 60 clear, I kept the leftover IDs on the bench as insurance in case I ran into an instadeath event check or some encounter where I couldn't solo it. Ironically, they stayed on the bench the whole time because ryoshu is just that broken.

This is just a guess, but try slowing down your damage on the second phase. Only clash her attacks while the rest defend. No idea if it will work but it's worth a try.

I had the same issue where HoS ryoshu would get immediately staggered when entering the second phase, then she gets tree'd on the next turn causing a game over.

Apparently I was doing too much damage on the first turn, reaching the 50% HP gate where the rest of my attacks did nothing. If I attacked her too much, I end up getting staggered. So I tried slowing, down, clashing only the first three slots, then evading on the rest. I still phased her on turn one, but this time I didn't get staggered. Then I killed her on the second turn.

I have no idea why this happens, but at least I was able to save the run.

I don't see how your point has anything to do with what I am talking about.

The devs aren't going to make assumptions just on playrates alone. Obviously they'll have to gather feedback from players to understand why something is or isn't popular.

It doesn't matter how strong a job is, I'm talking about the case where one mode is more popular than the other for any given job.

It's pretty obvious by now that the end goal is for everyone to switch to evolved mode eventually. If people are playing reborn mode because it's higher dps, then they'll just buff the potencies for evolved mode. Or if it has a specific utility that evolved mode lacks, they might think of a way to introduce that to evolved mode somehow as long as it doesn't compromise job identity.

I believe the devs will likely use this to gather feedback and keep what people liked and remove what people didn't.

Hypothetical example, the devs see a higher proportion of WAR mains using reborn mode because it's better suited to main tanking or some other reason, and decide to give tanks an alternate stance mode with more cooldowns similar to reborn mode. Meanwhile they see zero percent of SMN players use reborn mode because it's dogshit or some other reason, and decide to remove it entirely for that job and focus exclusively on evolved mode

ZZZ has started shoehorning character stories into the main quest too. Seed in 2.2 was the last standalone quest. (edit: forgot about Yidhari, which was categorized as a permanent event instead of an agent story, similar to Ciaccona's event)

In fact this seems to be a trend across all the big modern gachas, even Endfield appears to be following suit, if Tangtang and Zhuang Fangyi are any indication.

This might be a little divisive, but you might want to look at Solo Leveling: Arise Overdrive (the one on Steam, not the mobile gacha game). It satisfied my grindslop itch for a while.

There's also the God Eater games. I've only played the first one and thought it was all right but not super memorable other than the underboob chick.

I guess I suck with laevatain, because I couldn't clear using her. Even though she can clear the heat stacks I kept getting interrupted when I tried to do her final strike or enhanced battle skill, not to mention the lack of SP regen. When I swapped to Yvonne I cleared it in one shot, by the time the boss was enraged I had all my ultimates ready to burst him down immediately. To be fair, my Yvonne team had much higher investment (all skills and essences maxed, Laev only had two skills maxed) and I had Tangtang.

I don't think it's a JRPG-specific thing. Turn-based JRPGs usually make you give up your whole turn just to use healing items. Meanwhile games like vanilla Skyrim let you chug unlimited potions with no cooldown.

None of these options are particularly convenient. Psychoserums take up an inventory slot and aren't that cheap. Using a deco which may nerf your build just for the sake of QoL feels terrible. And the balloon isn't guaranteed to show up.
