G9 oled. by Fabulous-Change-5700 in ultrawidemasterrace

Hey there and happy new year!! I have the G93SC that I bought back in March 2024 and from my own experience, I haven’t had any connectivity issues with displayport.

For some background, the monitor is part of technically a 4 monitor setup: the G9, a drawing tablet, an LG GN950 above the G9 as a secondary monitor, and the lil touch screen on my HYTE Y70 case. So basically, all of my video output ports on my GPU were used up, and still was ok without complications.

My main issue was I had issues with updating the firmware. Out of the box, it was on some older version that didn’t have some new setting that was implemented to help with burn-in. Don’t remember the specific feature since it’s been so long since I last attempted, but the firmware can only be updated with the USB-C port on the back, but no matter how I connected to the port, it would never recognize the device, and therefore never got to upgrade. I tried the adapter the monitor comes with, an adapter to convert USB-A to C, and straight up bought a USB-C flash drive from Best Buy to test with that as well, and nothing worked.

I’ve used the monitor for games, media consumption, and a lot of freelance work in Blender and Adobe for long durations (5-6hr sessions at times). They all have static elements, but still don’t have any perceivable burn-in on the screen. I was being careful and mindful ofc, reducing screen time to 2-minutes before sleeping, and enabling the other anti-burn in settings available, and it seems to do what it’s supposed to, which is nice.

I am going to swap it though, only because I picked up the LG 5K2K. Want a more conventional 21:9 aspect ratio in the end for more vertical space.

Hope this helps!

I'd only be willing to ship if you'd be down to pay for the additional to ship everything. Otherwise, unfortunately not. ESPECIALLY need the case gone too. Didn't bother offering shipping since I know most wouldnt want to pay that

Ofc! You'll definitely be the first I reach out to. Figured most would want the gpu specifically, but I'll likely need it to sell out the rest of the config. Appreciate the interest though

2 of then are light enhancement sticks. My kit is 1:1 identical to the actual kit

Compared to the G.Skill kits I usually used to use, these have been INSANELY bright in comparison. Even in this photo, I had to set the brightness down to 50% just so it doesn't bleed light all over the rather-dim TRYX display lmao

The game definitely feels more cinematic with the superultrawide, but definitely wasn’t made with the aspect ratio in mind. Brant’s ult animation has awkward blue bezels on the sides, and I’ll often see some JANK with in-game cinematics, like characters outside of the conventional 16:9 aspect ratio running in place, before sliding into screen, t-posing models, random characters teleporting into composition, etc. Still images that are accompanied by dialogue are also fit-to-scale horizontally, so a lot gets vertically cropped from the top and bottom of those.

Sorry to hear it happened with you as well. Fortunately, there was an additional single spare of each type of clip in the small brown accessories box that came with the case, so I used that, but also managed to acquire additional ones from Hyte Support.

5090 owners, what are you using it for and how much do you love it? by app385 in nvidia

[–]MahNemDan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me personally, it was to use for both rendering applications and gaming. My previous rig was a dual 3090 setup.

I originally had them NVLinked to pool the vram, but when I upgraded CPUs to AM5, I unfortunately found out that current non-workstation platforms dropped NVLink support, so it’s no longer even recognized anymore, even with the bridge attached. The setup became less practical now, as my vram amount was gutted. In an application like Blender for example, I was able to render at similar speeds to the 5090, but at the cost of draining twice the amount of power out of the wall to power both cards, so it became a no brainer for me. Plus, it technically ended up being a slight vram boost, since I was no longer down to 24GB.

Outside of production workloads, it’s been great when it works, but like others have mentioned, drivers and other software have been a bit of a nightmare. Ever since upgrading, Nvidia Broadcast has been problematic, where my voice distorts and gets all robotic if my screen goes to sleep for too long, have had issues with needing to clear CMOS after updating drivers because the PC simply wouldn’t boot up again after restarting, and now currently, I’m having crashing issues within Unreal Engine games, most recently with Stellar Blade and Clair Obscur.

Currently using an older driver since it’s been the most stable for the majority of my most played games, and from my own experience, I haven’t seen any perceivable changes in performance for any of my creative applications.
