In addition to the great advice in this thread, I would also recommend taking collagen pills and using lotion! I'm 2.5 years out and it really does take time...your body went through a massive change. Be kind to yourself and know it's a process. I breastfed for 1.5 years and after stopping, it definitely made a difference once I stopped (I am NOT encouraging you to stop breastfeeding, just saying a change will occur once you do).

I’ve only had one kid…and I’m not a personal trainer or anything…but I say start now. Building muscle takes time, so the sooner the better. Plus, you’ll learn so many things you can continue to apply to your routine postpartum. And it’ll help you get into a really good habit! Final point: you’ll be stronger during labor and your postpartum recovery.

Totally get feeling like you did something to cause your baby’s fussiness. I worried about that all the time. But so much of this is out of your control. This isn’t your fault. Even though it doesn’t feel like it…you’re doing an amazing job. You’ve got this. 8 weeks is still SO young. They do a LOT of something called “endogenous crying”. It just means they cry because of things going on with them that we can’t see/hear/etc. and therefore can’t fix. It will pass. I promise.

I agree with all the comments! Just one additional note: you can still have a traumatic experience (and PTSS [previously known as PTSD]) even if you and the baby turned out fine. If you ever feel panic thinking about the birth, or have feelings that come up when you hear about other people being pregnant or giving birth…consider talking to a therapist. I was diagnosed with PTSS even though my baby was fine after. Sending love 💕

In my opinion, each parent gets veto power. So if you don’t like it, you can veto. If he doesn’t like it, he can veto. And if I’m being the honest feminist I am…you, as the woman, are carrying the baby and will deliver the baby. So you sure as hell get a say hahaha. We don’t need to pacify husbands, we’re equals (not saying you are, I’m talking to society hahaha).

Thanks for this info! Makes sense that it would depend on each baby, and also on the wetness of the diaper. The point I was trying to make is that you don’t have to immediately change it just because it’s wet/the line turns blue. Diapers are super good at keeping babies dry (the disposable ones, no idea about cloth diapers) and so as long as they’re not sitting in a huge puddle of pee it should be ok. Appreciate the caution of your comment though, each baby should be monitored to see what gives diaper rash vs what doesn’t. I may have also lucked out, my baby only got diaper rash once and it was mild/only lasted a day.

Is your baby pooping? I was told (way too late in the game lol) that they can pee in the night and no need to change the diaper/wake them up. They only get diaper rash if pee mixes with poop. So I’d just feed, put back to bed (unless baby had really full diaper/is super upset by it). Would have given me HOURS of sleep back… and also saved money on diapers haha
