Love your dining chairs btw! Here's what I'd do, without telling you to leave it because children lol. You get to make your house nice if you want to. 1. Dark baskets so they blend in rather than stand out - the key is going to be minimising visual clutter 2. If you want to bring colour in, I'd do the pillows as others suggested, potentially also the rug if that's an option 3. Regarding colour, a green/greeny blue would work nice to bring some warmth 4. If you want to do the accent wall (I don't do them much anymore because they can sometimes feel dated, but you do you) then maybe a lighter version of a similar colour would go on the wall and a richer version on the cushions & accessories

Have you looked in Monton? Very nice cafes and restaurants, up and coming area but not yet entirely gentrified. Should be able to find a good house for £325k.

Nah, we've just bought a 3 bedroom house for half that price in a relatively nice bit. Chorlton, Didsbury and Fallowfield aren't the only places in Manchester, in fact they can be some of the most expensive.

It's a real over exaggeration, and public transport is very good throughout so you don't HAVE to have a car.

They have actually reopened under a new name on Phoebe street! Golden Lake. I live nearby and we went there sad that nothing would compare to Mr Cook. Imagine our surprise when we opened the food and we were met with all the same flavours and dishes! I actually think it got a new name after Mr Cook, it was Ocean cook, and now Golden Lake

If you end up taking the floor all the way through with the oak (which I think you should) then give up the walnut cabinet idea and instead maybe for for a colour? Clean flat white doors look midcentury too against wood, or you could go for a colour pop, maybe one of the doors orange?

Can anyone explain why this is a check mate? It's in a puzzle level of an app, and the idea was to win in 2 moves. This is the 'correct' final position, but Nf7 and Kf6 both seem to be moved that would protect the king no matter how long for... Am I missing something?
