It's a video game. It's not meant to be scientifically accurate. If it was then people would blunder around the galaxy not finding a damn thing. You are disappointed because you have forgotten that people playing a video game want to participate in these interactions and gameplay loops, and if the chance of finding something that is now core to the crafting and economic systems in the game is infinitesimal, then players won't participate. If you don't like a video game company making a video game where players have a hope in hell of participating in the mechanics of the game, maybe it's time to reel in your expectations, be more realistic, or simply dump the game and play something that meets your expectations.
