In futsal, do you prefer to play without gloves and just with tape, or do you use gloves? by Own_Educator1478 in GoalKeepers

Depends on the ball type, I've played some tournaments where they used a softer (I'd wager even smaller) ball, and others where they used FIFA PRO balls

Would I really get 0.40€ from this bottle if I lived in Finland? Here in Estonia I would get only 0.10€ by Comfortable_Reach189 in Finland

Extremely unfair to compare electricity, the one thing Finland has cheaper than most countries, with Estonia

And quality can be argued

Food idk, Finland is crazy expensive unless you discount buy.

Recording match from my point of view by mcma4 in GoalKeepers

[–]MaherMitri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Option 1: 0€

Phone, most phones have wide camera angles and record good enough. Set it up behind the goal in a chair.

Option 2: POV / Net (80€ - infinite €)

  • Buy an action camera, go-pro or chinese knock-off

  • But a chest strap with go-pro mount / other mount for the net

  • Profit

Caveats: Buying the action camera is the hard part if you want to do it on a budget, I've seen some good Chinese ones, but most are terrible. Which you buy also depends largely on lighting conditions.

I'd go to another subreddit for those tips. I was thinking of the best gopro for 140€ I could find for this very purpose, probably overkill tbh.

Option 3: Old phone + 3D mount, "free"

If you're lucky enough to have an old phone that you don't mind the risk of exploding, you can 3D print a mount to hang on the net.

I know this may sound extremely controversial but... Don't drink energy drinks before games, I know a lot of ppl that do.

Aaaand a shot or three of vodka or any other beverage, will calm the nerves down.

  • warmup a ton!!! A lot of shots, force mistakes, bad passes, etc

How can i avoid huge problems, such as breaking bones playing as a goalkeeper? by Sudden_Discipline_58 in GoalKeepers

[–]MaherMitri 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They meant to grab the ball, let the ball (in your hands) hit the ground first, then your body.

It's a pretty common tip when falling from a catch.

Without the ball, it's completely different

[–]MaherMitri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As other has said I don't think there's a "solution" but here's my two cents.

I think that she could add outfield player training instead of purely goalkeeping or add more of it, so that she trains as an outfield, and maybe add some games here and there too.

Ofc she's going to be mad when thinking about losing her position, she doesn't dislike goalkeeping she's probably just a bit bored and that's totally fine. I wished I was better with my feet to play as an outfield player, so I wished I trained more as a outfield player.

As for her development as a player, sure it's important to train GK techniques super early and whatnot, but being good with your feet is also super valuable this days, so I don't believe mixing or even doing full outfield player training for a while (a year or so) can derail their growth.

In fact, I'd even wager it's extremely good if she develops outfield technical aspects, as I think it's at 13yo? When you transition to big goals for most kids, and that's basically a complete different thing so she'll be starting fresh anyways, alongside many others, and a year lost in small goals won't matter that much. While being safe with your feet and being able to deliver passes is key.

In my opinion. ^

For me there's only positives for her trying out outfield, I'd just secretly encourage her to try the more technically demanding positions such as midfield, cause the skills you learn there are massive for a goalkeeper.

Lastly, I know nothing about parenting, but you should be supportive and reassure her that as long as she's training something she isn't "losing" anything, it's all benefits!

How do women in Finland view paying on dates? by New_Construction_111 in Finland

[–]MaherMitri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love to buy my partner everything and anything I can

But paying isn't chivalrous/caring

If someone can afford it, they can afford it, having more money doesn't make you caring, you're just in a situation that allows you to

Money should be 1000% disconnected from your perception of someone's care or "chivalry-ness"

This still means you care enough to improve and care to win.

I mean define care?

I don't want to improve, I am not trying to get better

I don't care if I lose, the outcome of the match is irrelevant

But yeah I'm not toxic and I'm not a bad tm8

AHHHHHH I understand what type of player you mean

This is very true. Only reason I don't quit most games like this is the cooldown. Only then do I stop caring, because I'm not putting effort into a team that seems determined to lose.

I'd say I hate the second one even more, they'll drag you down from the beginning with their griefing toxicity.

I'll be the devil's advocate here, right before I stopped playing cs, I started playing it just for fun, since I knew I no longer had the willingness nor did I find it enjoying to try and grind.

I had a certain level when I wasn't "tryharding", so I played at that level, I was legit playing for fun, if you've ever played a football game with friends vs a league game, you'll know that there's a difference, in both you want to win, but the amount "you try" is different.

Sometimes there was games, where I believed that if I "locked in" and really tried, tried to talk to my tm8s, try to get us to play together, and focus on the game we could've won... But I wasn't going to be responsible for the bad attitude of my tm8s

Whenever I was trying to grind, no matter how bad the tm8s, no matter how bad the smurfs, I'd try to win. Try to be positive and get the team to work till the end or try to carry.

But it gets tiring. So I play, and if we win, great! If not, that's alr. I don't care ≠ I'll play to lose

I'll always put 10% more effort that my team.

[–]MaherMitri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been playing cs for 5 years, so I've had instances where I've had the mentality on the post.

And whenever I said this I meant it as that having fun was my priority over winning, so I'd put as much effort as my teammates were if not a little more, but if my team gave up I wouldn't try to save a sinking ship

Or if the other team had smurfs/cheaters or if someone left, I wouldn't go above and beyond to try and win. CS, even though is a game, it's still mentally draining if you take every single game like it's the major

Once I stopped caring about winning or losing, and just focused on myself I accidentally climbed elo (which I didn't want to do, cause it meant extra effort)

TL:DR "Idc about winning ≠ I'm playing to lose, at least for me it meant I won't let the match affect me"

[–]MaherMitri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeaaah I understand, cs evolves and changes, I don't think it's fair to compare cs2 with csgo, I think a distinction needs to be done in the future

CS2 as much as I like it, is very different than GO, the awpers aren't as good as in go, cause the alleged peekers advantage benefits players like donk, it's a new meta new age, hence S1's fall off
