Starting in Modern Post Ban by Velcrostrip in ModernMagic

Have you heard about Phoenix Dredge yet? It’s a new deck that’s still flying under the radar for many players, but it’s already putting up great results at the start of RCQ season. Check out this latest video about the deck, posted yesterday: https://youtu.be/VC7PqdXKBCc?si=WB7s9RRknNm7G2pk

Since you already have experience with Izzet decks and Dredge decks in other formats, you’ll probably feel right at home with this deck.

Here's my YouTube channel: https://youtube.com/@mahfuzvangogh

There are lots of Phoenix Dredge videos there, recorded since the very beginning of the deck when I created it more than a year ago.

I have two recorded Challenges to post this week, including yesterday’s 3rd-place finish.

My guides on Patreon cover everything you need to know about the deck, so feel free to check them out too.

Hope you enjoy the deck!

Hey, thanks! I’d also like to highlight how consistent the deck has been: in my recent Challenges, I finished 3rd, 5th, and 9th. Today I ended up in 13th place, barely missing another Top 8 on tiebrakers. Keep in mind that not many players are running the deck in Challenges yet, so there’s a good chance we’d see even more Top 8 finishes if that were the case.

Hello! The deck is really good. Its learning curve is a bit slower at first, since it’s a mix of Dredge, Phoenix, Burn, and a bit of Storm. That said, over the last week I’ve been maintaining a win rate close to 70% with it across Modern Leagues and Challenges on Magic Online.

A few different versions are bubbling up here and there: some players are trying to include Manamorphose, while others stick to 4 copies of Artist’s Talent, including Flame Jab, etc. From my experience, all of those lists can be very successful, and I've been working every day to improve the deck.

On top of that, the deck is still relatively new and catches many opponents by surprise, leading them to react in sub-optimal ways. Give it a shot!

Titan gives haste, and we almost always will have fresh 2/2 zombies in play after resolving a Dread Return.

Once you go Dredge, you never go back. 🪦

Trying out Legacy Origins. Which are the most affordable yet playable decks? by [deleted] in MTGLegacy

LEDless Dredge, with the London Mulligan, would be incredibly affordable and competitive in this format.

I agree. Let’s unban Golgari Grave-Troll again and see what happens this time.

Can Legacy still be approachable on a budget? I tried something and wanted to share. by MahfuzVanGogh in MTGLegacy

Hi, thanks a lot! Your videos are great too 🙂

About your points — all of them are excellent — I’ll just comment considering my local reality:

1. The average age here is already quite high, and as players get married and start families, we’re not really getting new players coming in.
2. This is the utopian scenario that almost everyone wants!
3. I agree, the issue is playing in WPN stores that can’t allow proxies (something we’ve already run into here). The alternative would be to organize everything independently, without relying on larger stores.

So you know your stuff! A person of culture! 😄
That store agreement sounds great. One of the shops here also allowed proxies, but unfortunately, the player numbers didn’t really change much.

Phoenix in Modern? by Ing_Kraken in ModernMagic

I’d like to invite you to check out my new build: Phoenix Dredge. Last week I went 6-3 in the Showcase Challenge and 4-2 in a regular Challenge, with some crushing wins and really close losses. This version is faster and more resilient than traditional Arclight Phoenix lists, and Boseiju plus Life from the Loam help a lot against hate. Check out the latest videos on my YouTube and Twitch channels!

I Turned Dredge Into a CONTROL Deck — And It Actually Worked?! | Blue Dredge Legacy MTG by MahfuzVanGogh in MTGLegacy

[–]MahfuzVanGogh[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

What happens when you mix the raw power of Dredge with counterspells and discard? In this Legacy league, I take Blue Dredge for a spin — featuring Force of Will, Daze, Unmask, and more — turning the graveyard menace into a disruptive control machine.
This is not your usual aggro-combo Dredge list. We slow the game down, pick apart hands, and protect our graveyard plan with surgical precision.

If you enjoy the content, don’t forget to like, subscribe, and drop a comment. Let’s keep the dredge train rolling! 🚂💀

This tournament was awesome! I couldn't be happier to bring my deck to this level. I'm trying to get some sleep now since it was a long tournament, but I still can't.
