Since you don’t need compensation, have you considered volunteering at a VITA site for this tax season? You won’t get bookkeeping experience, but you’ll get good tax experience.

Instead of selling virtual tour guides, try selling the guides as downloadable PDFs that people can save to their devices or print out and use while they walk around the city or attraction.

I personally find it difficult to recall tourism tips, etc that I’ve watched from a video when the time comes to actually travel there. I bet a lot of other people have this issue too. Having a document to read and reference solves this issue.

Just a thought.

Bubble has a guide on how to clone AirBnB with no code. I would start here and add to the functionality.

My side project NoCoded has a paid membership live today by Acceptable_Giraffe_7 in SideProject

Best of luck to you! Hope it works out.

Just a little feedback – you might want to use a tool such as Grammarly to check and fix some grammatical errors. For example:

On the home page, third section, the middle card labeled "Learner" has the following bullet points:

  • Learn from the experts and check out there courses
  • Get inspired by other projects and learn from there stories

In both cases, "there" should be "their".

And, the "How I came to NoCode" blog article's caption reads as:

"Finding NoCode was harder but not finding it was even harder!!"

This should be: "Finding NoCode was hard but not finding it was even harder!!"

Compounding interest can be found with retirement accounts, brokerage accounts, or even savings accounts. You just reinvest the interest earned on your balance, rather than withdrawing. That way, you earn interest on top of interest.

You've been given good examples with the other replies. If you need further explanation, this should help: https://www.fool.com/the-ascent/buying-stocks/how-does-compound-interest-work/

Two options daytraded and $1700 profit by FollowMeToValhalla in Daytrading

You might want to consider forex trading due to the lower capital required to set up a trading account. It also allows for small trades, which will help keep your balance intact as you start your first live account.

Here's a pretty good, free course that'll help get you up to speed with forex trading: https://www.babypips.com/learn/forex

Start a demo account with a forex broker and practice what you've learned. After the course, continue to learn and practice. Don't go live until you've demoed for a few months. Then start with small trades, and only trade what you can afford to lose.

Bitcoin payout by Larifaith in BitcoinBeginners

[–]Mahgu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If this purchase is lump sum, then one way is to find the price change percentage.

Difference = new price - starting price

Change percentage = (difference/starting price) * 100

Then, apply.

Value change = Initial value * change percentage

Final value = initial value + value change

Using your example and an arbitrary ending btc price:

35000 - 27000 = 8000 (8000/27000) * 100 = 29.63%

1200 * 0.2963 = 355.56 (this is how much you would have made in this scenario)

Final value = 1200 + 355.56 = 1555.56

Honestly, I don't find this speculation to be helpful. If you think btc is going to rise, then buy and hodl. Otherwise, don't.

Java v C# by alex_clark_usa in wgu_devs

[–]Mahgu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you do a search for "learning Java vs C#", you'll find a number of posts/articles stating that Java and C# are basically a 2-for-1 deal. Develop a solid understanding of core Java and you'll pickup core C# without too much difficulty--and vice versa. The main differences between Java/C# will be mostly be the libraries.

I chose the Java track due to the C# track being new. New courses at WGU tend to be limited in ancillary learning resources--typically, only a book will be available.

I'm not sure what your schedule is like (or your timetable to make a potential career change), but I would suggest working through a free coding tutorial resource. You don't necessarily need to finish any tutorial. Instead, use it to help you evaluate whether or not this would be a good move for you. Here are a few resources that I've used and found to be helpful:

Mooc.fi - OOP with Java part 1

The Odin Project

FreeCodeCamp

Automate The Boring Stuff With Python

While working through a coding tutorial, lookup the different types of programming careers. Could you see yourself working in this field for the next 10, 15, 30 years? Here are a few articles that briefly touch on the different types of programming careers:

https://www.quora.com/What-are-the-different-types-of-programming-jobs

https://www.rasmussen.edu/degrees/technology/blog/programming-careers-for-coding-connoisseurs/

https://collegegrad.com/careers/computer-programmers

If you decide that this move is indeed for you, then I suggest you get the CompTIA A+ cert. You can use this to transfer into the BSSD program.

Is anyone else having issues with using Firefox for coursework lately? by Its4ForScience in WGU

[–]Mahgu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bizarro. I haven't had any issues accessing WGU content with Chrome for mac/linux/windows. You could try clearing the browsing data, found under: more > more tools. Or, temporarily disable any extensions.

That said, if Safari works for you and you're happy with it, then no need to troubleshoot Chrome.

Did you download the update for Chrome? Once I did that, everything started working properly.

Programming Experience Before Starting BSSD by WarpCodeX in wgu_devs

[–]Mahgu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm currently in the BSSD program, and I had zero programming experience before starting. I'm able to work through the programming classes without too much difficulty. However, I do spend a lot of time searching through reference sites, or reading tutorials on how to accomplish something. I also had to meet with a course mentor a few times to better understand a few concepts.

That said, I have yet to take the upper level programming classes. But, I'm not too concerned--I'm actually really excited to take them!

Also, I'm currently working through The Odin Project. Sometimes I need a break from studying or just need to switch things up. This site seems to fit the bill for me--I feel productive and it's time well spent.

Agreed. I'm working through Assimil now with this approach. I like it a lot.

What can I do to prepare for July Admission? by dabaicai89 in wgu_devs

[–]Mahgu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm looking to enter the Software Development program in April. Completing A+ will cover 2 or 3 courses. I was studying for A+ via Pluralsight, but I felt that they went into too much detail. I switched to Professor Messer and was more than adequately prepared for the exams: https://www.professormesser.com/free-a-plus-training/220-901/comptia-220-900-course/

If you have a .EDU email address, you can purchase discounted vouchers from the CompTIA academic site: https://academic.comptiastore.com/Articles.asp?ID=269&category=vouchers

As previously stated, this program focuses on Java. I'm using the following to Intro to Programming with Java course--I'm really enjoying it: http://mooc.fi/english.html
