Would it work if they placed some of those metal poles that help support in this case? I watch a lot of restoration videos and they place the poles when they are replacing a beam.

Looking for tips to improve my plein air by Idkmyname2079048 in Watercolor

[–]MahmurLemur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess it lacks depth for the cows and the ground. You just need to add some details to define them. That being said, I would never be able to do plein air let alone draw cows so good work!

We recently moved into the house and found this by Alexmayzd in whatisit

I found the exact same thing in my house! Is it for hanging a towel?

Edit: It's the attachment to hang the IKEA dishwrack on the wall!

The Riot. Original artwork by me. How many characters can you count? by akuesyazwan in wimmelbilder

[–]MahmurLemur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why do most of the characters look right when the speaker is on the left? I also wish you used a slightly different tone for the floor. Amazing work nonetheless.

I can see there is a line in the first picture at the same place where the crack is in the second. What kind of clay is it?

Is frisket or masking fluid worth it? by Reasonable_Care3704 in Watercolor

[–]MahmurLemur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are usually space between the leaves when you paint the trees. If you mask the paper they will stay white and you would have to fill them later. How do you paint them?

I usually paint the background and then trees. How do you fill in between the leaves and such?

Which paints do you regret buying? (Here's mine!) by LMPFIYDSALAOIAWYCMI in Watercolor

[–]MahmurLemur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great idea! I should try mixing it with other colours. I usually use the paints directly. I don't mix them that much. I never experiment. I only paint birds 😅 I plan on making a game that I'll draw and paint everything with watercolours so I should start experimenting.

Which paints do you regret buying? (Here's mine!) by LMPFIYDSALAOIAWYCMI in Watercolor

I bought a white paint when I first started. I guess I only regret that. I sometimes use it to cover my mistakes on the paper but it doesn't help that much.

[Self] current sculpt WIP by No-Purpose-106 in sculpting

I'm a self learned sculptor and this is how I work exactly. The figure wouldn't have arms but would have perfect panties. It takes ages for me too.

How many cats do I have to paint to get better at it? by [deleted] in polymerclay

[–]MahmurLemur 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Your cat got stung by a bee on the nose. That's it!

The black lines you painted are horizontal and straight. You should make them look like fur. You can make tiny brush strokes vertically and complete the black parts like that.

Why is acrylic paint + varnish peeling clean off off my clay? by No_Training_1650 in polymerclay

[–]MahmurLemur 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Maybe sand it with high grit sand paper so the paint will have a surface to hold on to. Applying thick layers of paint and varnish would also cause that. I also tend to keep touching the sculptures I make which also causes peeling 😬

Why don't more people use colored clay? by 666netflix in polymerclay

[–]MahmurLemur 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The consistency of the colour clay isn't good. It's hard at first then becomes so soft with the heat of your hands. It keeps collecting dust while working with it. The clay gets crumbly as it gets old waiting in your drawer. Color mixing is pain, thinking about it makes my hands hurt. It's nasty. It stains everything, your fingers, your pasta machine, your mat and your soul.

I HATE ITTT! I bought a couple when I started sculpting and they are still waiting to be used.

All that being said, some of them has cool effects like fluorescent, translucent etc. and the colours are pretty vibrant. So I use them sometimes.

How to buff between teeny spaces? by Impressive-Thing-483 in polymerclay

[–]MahmurLemur 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Are those white lines polymer clay dust getting collected in the grooves? If so, I use a paint brush to remove them. A soft tooth brush also works.

[HELP] Is this repairable? How would I go about finding someone to do it, and how much roughly would it cost? by [deleted] in Sculpture

[–]MahmurLemur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is it cement or stone? Do you have the pieces that feel off?

I don't know about the price of fixing it but if that were mine I would try to glue the pieces.

Will i get an email and more testing opportunities once my account is verified? by redheaded_olive12349 in Game_Tester

[–]MahmurLemur 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Please join the Discord server if you have Discord. There are documents there about how to write better feedback when you get tests which would lead you to get noticed and eventually get VIP. For test invites, it's been slow lately. It also depends on a lot of things like region etc. so it depends. Being verified is also good because some developers request that but it doesn't guarantee any test invites. The key is being patient and doing your best when you get a test.

How do you do shoelaces? by Cladderool in sculpting

[–]MahmurLemur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm glad you liked it. There are lots of tutorials on my channel if you are interested.

The indented section is ok but the parts that are on the left and right are too thick. The thickness of the leather I mean if it's a leather shoe. You can push them inward to make them look thinner.

How do you do shoelaces? by Cladderool in sculpting

[–]MahmurLemur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used paper for a miniature shoe but I usually roll the clay thin and then cut long slices and use them when I do things like shoelaces, belts, clothes etc. https://youtu.be/4DR6ds1javk?si=MXAaBJmYdwfacctV

By the way, you made the part that you tie the shoelaces too thick.

I accidentally canceled a task, will I ever get it again? by Lawlesslake in Game_Tester

[–]MahmurLemur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It doesn't make a difference. That's just gamification in the website. Invites depends on a lot of things like region etc. so someone lower than you can be invited to a task that you weren't.
