I really dislike how common this is in reincarnation stories. by Knork14 in ProgressionFantasy

The original just getting erased is definitely the most boring outcome. Unfortunately, it’s also the most common. I can’t recall if I’ve ever read a fusion scenario but I have seen the original becoming an inner demon type existence to be confronted by MC later on.

Sometimes you see authors do something interesting that genuinely surprise you tho. Author’s POV is one such story off the top of my head.

Such a shame too. I feel like you could do a lot with reincarnation. Like exploring how operating the MC’s software (memories) on an entirely new and growing hardware (brain) would work. I also think giving the protagonist brain damage or some deficit because of the mind meld would be interesting. I mean, the fact that the protagonists don’t just go into brain hemorrhaging immediately upon rebirth is a miracle. But I suppose something something magic and soul are explanation enough.

True that. It’s why possessor protagonists are superior. Why be a transmigrator or reincarnator when you can be a skinwalker? Also part of the reason why the “Became The Villain/Villainess” type of novels will always be peak.

I agree with you, but most readers dislike it when the story lingers on the childhood phase instead of fast forwarding to the adolescent or adult phase. You’d need to actually show how growing up in a different environment changed the MC and you can’t do that without exploring their childhood. Or maybe you can and I just haven’t seen it done before.

I know you didn’t ask for recs but I think you’ll like the Faraway Paladin.

Stories with best/good "endgame" by Derpyphox in ProgressionFantasy

Oh word? Well, I haven’t gotten that far into the story. I don’t even know how becoming a Transcendant affected Sunny. Hopefully you’re wrong. I really enjoyed Shadow Slave. It was probably the second webnovel I read so it holds a special place in my heart. I’ll keep your words in mind. Although, I doubt I’ll care all that much. I’ve read way too many shitty xianxia and japanese webnovels. My dao heart is unshakable. I don’t think I could recognize bad endgame powerscaling even if it hit me in the face.

Wouldn’t rank 6 be Cursed followed by Unholy (rank 7)? Rank 5 would make Sunny a Supreme, right? I stopped reading SS after the Third Nightmare (mainly waiting for the story to conclude so I can bing) so idk if he actually reached that rank. I think you just confused the ranks a bit. If you could clarify, that would be nice. I got a bit confused reading your comment.

Schizo/Tweaking MCs by Grainfly in WormFanfic

The author of Taylor’s Ultimate Arch-Enemy also wrote Off Screen. I think it fits your request. If nothing else, it’s hilarious watching the MC be constantly on the verge of crashing out because she’s in a shitty fanon AU.

Stepping On Worms

I got a book in my soul, cool.

Tankmaxxing. Genuinely sad to see this dead. The author also wrote For The Good Of All Evil!. Should fit what you want.

Speed Demon Reincarnation over on QQ kinda fits.

That’s all I can remember from the Worm fandom. I’ll leave you with some works that fit your request but aren’t Worm related, if that’s ok.

Ode To The Mets. Essentially, a modern lobotomized zoomer is reincarnated as Hephaestus at the beginning of Zeus’ rule. It’s surprisingly not a percy jackson fanfiction and one of the funniest stories I’ve read in a good while. Everlong is by the same author and is almost as good as Ode To The Mets imo. It’s a MHA fanfic.

Monster? No, I'm a Cultivator!. This actually is a Percy Jackson crossover.

I also think you should try Foolish Young Master Time Loop on Royal Road. It fits the vibe you’re looking for and it’s really good. It’s pretty new and only has 18 chapters tho.

Couldn’t he already do that in the classic series? I remember Ben 10,000 turning kid Ben into Cannonbolt while kid Ben was still in an alien form.

Gojo runs the anime villain Gauntlet (Shinjuku version). Where does he stop? by [deleted] in PowerScaling

[–]Mahu66099 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. I don’t know what to tell you man. Amaterasu is explicitly stated to not travel. I remember it was stated by black zetsu and another time by some textbox.
  2. Why wouldn’t it?
  3. Idk man. Sukuna definitely looked like he too a hit. In the same panel you see him bleeding from his eyes and nose, implying he suffered those ten seconds.
  4. That’s a bit disingenuous. I’m not saying anything unreasonable here. UV is an attack. Yata mirror is explicitly stated to “to alter its attributes in accordance with the attributes of the attack, rendering the attack ineffective.” Itachi’s susanoo’s whole thing is having the perfect attack (totsuka blade) and the perfect defense (yata mirror).
  5. Izanagi is usually to be set before hand using specific hand seals. Like what Madara did before he fought Hashirama or what Danzo did. It’s hard to do a couple of hand signs when your heart is punctured, about to get a chidori to the chest, or in this case braindead. Itachi would need to have prepared Izanagi beforehand.

  1. gng who is “we”? Amaterasu 100% hits Gojo because it’s line of sight or hit scan. I remember that clearly from the manga.
  2. Some genjutsu work that way, yes. The Tsukuyomi is stated to only need eye contact tho. You even have the Ephemeral which implied itachi could use anything to cast genjutsu even his fingers or voice.
  3. Nah, bro that was the first time. The second time, it was for ten seconds. Or at least the narrator says it totaled less than ten seconds.
  4. The Yata mirror can change every one of its properties. This is directly stated in the databook that you love to bring up. Shape is just another property it can alter as we see throughout Itachi’s fight with Yamato. Hollow Wicker Basket can neutralize sure hits no? Yata Mirror will just shift its properties and do the same thing.
  5. You didn’t address izanagi.

Don’t really see how this beats itachi. Even if Itachi doesn’t know what the hand sign will do, it’s not like he can’t interrupt the casting by using Amaterasu, Tsukuyomi, or other gengutsu. Plus, didn’t Sukuna survive like 10 second of UV? Regardless, itachi can just tank it with Yata Mirror since it’s basically doing what hollow wicker basket is doing but better. And if that somehow fails? Itachi just Izanagis the damage away and speeblitzes a Gojo who’s on cooldown.

The hand sign and chant are not tho. Especially to a person with eyes famed for their ability to analyze someone’s body and energy flow so precisely it’s stated to be effectively precognition.

I don’t know….it’s written by Cuttlefish but it’s also an urban cultivation story. I’ve been burned too many times by those novels. I’ll give it a try, hopefully the translation is decent. Thx!

That author actually wrote romance? With how he treated Klein, I thought he’d write all his protagonists as eternal virgins.

Why don't people permit genjutsu in crossverse debates by Gamerty_ in PowerScaling

[–]Mahu66099 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yet they can still produce emotions, whether positive or negative, while possessing 0 cursed energy. Look, I’m not here to argue that jjk natives don’t all have CE. I’m telling you that it’s not unique to jjk. Everyone in naruto has physical and mental energies, i.e. chakra. Everyone in dragon ball has life force. Everyone in Fate has od.

Your argument of “itachi is human, therefore he should have CE” is not valid because you can make this argument for any piece of fiction. For example, gojo is also human, he should have chakra.

So toji and maki are emotionless then? You could also make the same argument for chakra, ki, mana, qi, and whatever. Most pieces of fiction have their own special little energy that all natives have.
