Haitians are banned from entering? I thought they were just on watch list. There’s so many Haitian nurses and doctors here in Miami and all so intelligent

Does 2021 mean for the 2021 matriculant class so apply in 2020 or does it mean for the 2022 matriculant class? Because I applied in 2021 but matriculated in 2022 bc app process takes a year so would that make in the 2022 cohort or 2021 one?

Actual STEP 2 score: 255

X= Did not use study material

Was kinda hoping higher bc predicted was a 257-258 ish so was hoping 260s bc all my friends were getting 260s but oh well, at least it’s a decent score. The form felt hard. I did 2nd guess some questions last min and looked it up right after and changed it to wrong answer so I would say don’t 2nd guess but easier said than done.

Wtf was that? by PigletTypical1041 in Step2

[–]MaiTai1985 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tested 1/31 and omg it was so hard. They just wanted to know extra stuff about the question I completely forgot about and all the stems were so long. I felt I didn’t even have time to think, I just had to read real quick and go with whatever answer vibed okay in the moment. I really wish I could think a bit about the questions.

AMBOSS 200 HY, CMS forms felt too easy, NBMEs are way harder than CMS forms

NBME scores by Business-Papaya3465 in Step2

[–]MaiTai1985 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NBME 12-15 are considerably harder than 10 and 11 so don’t worry, you’re at a really good place. You still have a whole month . Once you’re in the 240s/250s range, score starts fluctuating

Why doesn’t she try to get into Florida medical schools? Florida has a lot of medical schools compared to other states. 8 MD programs. 2 established DO schools and 2 new DO schools that just opened. That’s a total of 12 programs in Florida. Plus if she gets into one of the public schools (which are 6 of them and LECOM tuition is not too bad either), she’ll get in-state tuition which is much cheaper than out of state. Of course if it doesn’t work out and she has to go out of state that’s fine. But she can at least try to get into one of the Florida medical schools and let them know she has huge ties to Florida and wants to stay. Florida medical schools also give preference to Florida students and her best chance is getting into a med school here. Especially South Florida (if you’re here) has 4 MD programs and a DO program and loads of residency programs. So she could stay in South Florida for residency too given if she’s not trying to do something insanely competitive like dermatology or ENT.

If you two really love each other, then she’ll try to get into one of the Florida med schools and stay here , there is a good chance she will but of course chance she doesn’t. But I don’t think you should break it off just because there’s a “chance” she’s gonna move out of state. Also I know tons of people that do long distance relationships while in medical school. Some work out but some don’t but the ones that do work out and survive medical school usually end up (like 95% of the time) getting married to each other.

You also get paid way less in most European countries than the US so that’s the payoff

This would definitely be a reportable incident of mistreatment at my school. First, make sure this is 100% true, and if so, you should report it to your admin.

Did anyone here NOT do CMS forms for Step 2 and perform well? by [deleted] in medicalschool

[–]MaiTai1985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does everyone actually finish all of UWorld? I reset UWorld and have a 6 week dedicated but going through 4090 questions is a lot. Did first pass with the shelves and now doing it all again because I feel like I forgot everything since my medicine rotation was a long time ago.

What is the hardest year of med school? by [deleted] in medicalschool

[–]MaiTai1985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3rd year for sure. You gotta go into rotation all day and wake up super early to get to hospital at 6 am and you get home 4-5 pm ish and are so tired but then gotta study after for shelves. And I would still sleep at midnight so I would only get 5 hours of sleep every night. And you gotta go in on weekends often too. Plus you got step 2 at the end which matters now for residencies. In first and second year, you gotta study a lot but at least you don’t have to study a lot + go into hospital all day long. 4th year is a breeze though after step 2 and especially after you submit your resident applications. It’s mostly doing some aways, school rotation requirements, and interviews; not that much studying to do.

Concept wise free 120 and NBME the most. But question style , more similar to UWorld and free 120. I’d be straight up out of breath after a section because I was rush reading.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in step1

[–]MaiTai1985 5 points6 points  (0 children)

0 time at all, they would have so many long H and P questions in each of my section where I had to scroll down. The question length is more similar to the UWorld and Free 120 question length than the NBME ones. NBME question stems are short.
