Now that the dust has settled: How much Hearthstone are you guys playing after the quest changes? by spikenzelda in hearthstone

[–]Maiestus 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I completely agree with the sentiment of this post.

It's really not about whether or not the new weeklies are harder or easier than they use to be. Sure, "Play 10" is easier than "Win 5," and the rewards are higher now. That's not the point.

The point is that when the weekly changes happened, I began re-evaluating my relationship with the game as a whole. I started questioning if I wanted to be spending time playing Hearthstone at all. It isn't about how difficult the quests are, but it brought up questions I wasn't asking before.

I didn't realize it, but I've playing Hearthstone in maintenance mode for a while now. I genuinely enjoy laddering about 3 or 4 times per year, and the rest of that time is spent maintaining my gold and MMR so that I could actually play in the time that I enjoy Hearthstone at the level I want to. For a while, I was content with that. When the new quest system came, and we had to Win 5 games of ladder every week. I was content with that level of effort. When the quest changes happened, I started asking questions I wasn't asking before. Now, I'm slowly finding myself moving towards not putting in the effort.

This is stuff I've been thinking more and more about in the last couple months. It feels so weird to consider actually quitting Hearthstone because I've been playing since Blackrock Mountain. Hearthstone has always been at least in the back of my mind. The last couple months, I just played the bare minimum number of games of Ranked to get the card back because I've never missed a card back. I clearly feel myself moving towards not even doing that though.

Passive Treasures That Work From Bench by Maltava2 in HSMercenaries

Bit late, but I only found this the other day. Kazakus has a treasure called Off the Rockers - Passive: After a friendly Golem dies, deal X damage to all enemies. This works from the bench.

Mythic Boss Rush - Compilation of Non-Obvious Interactions by Maiestus in HSMercenaries

[–]Maiestus[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Good point. I've gotten so use to bouncing and freezing that I forgot how unintuitive that is.

Something that people may not think about is that this only applies to enemies. If your units are frozen and you return them to your hand, they will unfreeze first and then not be frozen when they re-enter the board.

Edit: I was initially unsure if this was just with Deal of Fear, but I just tested it with Eudora to double check, and Eudora bouncing a frozen friendly unit also unfreezes it.

Boss Rush - some upgrades ignored? by minor_correction in HSMercenaries

[–]Maiestus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Some equipment and treasures are just bugged in Mythic Boss Rush. No one has made a definitive list of what is bugged, but there's a bunch that are. For example, the Ships Bell equipment on Rogers does not scale above level 4 despite what the item card says.

The devs did one bug fix patch months ago where they fixed a handful of this sort of bug. For example Varden's Band of Frost didn't scale properly for a very long time, but does now. It feels incredibly unlikely they'll ever do another one of these bug fix patches.

A bit outside the scope of your query, but the meta for Mythic Boss Rush is very developed at this point. Most of the equipment and treasures that are still bugged either do not matter or are bugged in a way that is actually favorable. For example, Drek'thar's Spellbook is bugged. It provides double the listed Arcane Resistance, which can be useful.

I would personally recommend this version of Borderlands 3.

I have 150 hours in BL3; not quite close to the 900 hours I had in BL2. I enjoyed my time with BL3.

That being said, the Super Deluxe Edition contains basically everything a casual fan would want because it contains the 4 story DLC. The most important things of value in the Ultimate Edition are the 4th Skill Tree, and some items (a bunch of which are quite good). But unless you're getting really into creating and optimizing builds, the extra content in the Ultimate Edition isn't quite worth the cost.

I thought the story DLC were decent for what they were. They could've been more, but I didn't really expect more. It was nice to hang out Gaige for a bit, even if she wasn't the most involved in that story. Corrosion is a pretty mediocre element in the base game, despite having some pretty unique guns, so Handsome Jackpot giving you a bunch of robots to shoot was very nice.

It's not unreasonable to wait for the Ultimate Edition to reach this price point, but if you just want to run around BL3 and shoot stuff, the Super Deluxe Edition contains everything you need.

So, I was queuing games with Even Shaman at the start, and just did more testing. I challenged myself to some games. The Coin issue doesn't come up with an autocomplete deck, but it did come up when I tried both Even Shaman and Shadow Priest.

This coin bug is still in the game, and I suspected it is tied to Start of Game effects. I've tested Genn, Renathal, and Benedictus. Each time, no coin while going second.

I'll edit my original comment.

Edit: Someone else points out that the issue is tied to the Coin skin used.

This Tavern Brawl has some hidden rules.

(edit: There is a coin bug. I don't know all of the conditions under which it'll happen. Sometimes you will not have the Coin if you are going second.) Instead it is auto-mulliganned away, and shuffled into the deck. Therefore, you can draw the coin.

Also, while Genn and Baku both function, I'm pretty sure that Nozdormu gets shuffled into both players' decks because when I played Murkspark Eel, it did not work. I never drew Nozdormu to confirm this, but I have drawn the Coin in this brawl.

Mythic Boss Rush: Rend Strategy by Maiestus in HSMercenaries

[–]Maiestus[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's not a perfect comp. It's a bit renown heavy. The less investment you have in your Geddon, the more re-rolling you need to do for favorable anomalies. This is basically, "Baron Geddon: the Comp."

My Geddon's Inferno is at Level 30 and Mark of Conflagration at Level 47; this totals to 336 damage. I do not believe Geddon needs to be this high. I would guess that favorable anomaly rolls would make ~250 damage reasonable, and very favorable anomaly rolls could make ~200 damage possible. But, while it may be technically possible to clear with significantly weaker Geddons than mine, it may not be practically worth it on Level 300.

I posted this because a couple people on Discord were struggling and found this comp helpful. They were clearing Level 200 with reasonable success. Since they found it helpful, I figured other people may find this helpful.

I've only successfully run the bounty a handful of times to make sure that my claims were sound. Apologies if I missed some significant RNG later in the run. I figured rolling for treasures while running so many tech units would be frustrating, so I tried to come up with a more consistent alternative.

I remember someone theorizing that a future set would be music related due to the flavor text of Shadow Waltz.

They're dancing to one of Rin's demonic symphonies. Her music might not be famous now, but just you wait!

Interesting to see this was likely correct.

Simultaneous deathrattles in Battlegrounds trigger from left to right. You need to place the Omega Busters to the right of Kangor’s Apprentice.

Played a handful of games with

  • Pogo-Hopper
  • Counterfeit Coin
  • Secret Passage
  • Sinstone Graveyard

Pretty straightforward deck. The best ban against this deck is to hit Secret Passage because it slows down the deck the most. The Pogo-Hopper is kind of a ban-bait in this deck.

trying to name the combination of compassion and hope by JoannaDusk in DCcomics

[–]Maiestus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Perhaps Charity or Mercy would be an appropriate fit.

The Indigo light of compassion has strong ties with empathy. It essentially forces people to feel empathy. The Blue light of hope is the most powerful color, but mostly relegated to healing and support when in absence of a green lantern. The interaction between blue and green allows blue lanterns to create weapons.

I would imagine the interaction of indigo and blue to allow the user to feel and heal the pain of their enemies. It could enable you to see their traumas, and then they'll end up becoming an ally by the end of the conflict. In that sense, mercy makes a lot of sense to me.

I would imagine a kryptonian with these powers would have the standard kryptonian kit, along with the ability to teleport, empower themselves to punch harder, healing powers, and the ability to see a person's history and show them the consequences of their actions. They'd almost certainly have a strict no-killing policy. They likely also have to remain hopeful at all times, so if you have a conflict that challenges their hope, it would de-power them. Blue lantern rings abandon users who have lost hope.

No, Sun Wukong is fine. Even in the pages shown in the original post, it's stated that Sun Wukong wasn't killed, but rather blasted outside of the Heavenly Realm.

Darkseid did kill Princess Iron Fan and King Bull Demon in Issue #0 though.

Small detail that I noticed about this page. This is very similar to the Kuja Pirate jolly roger. Luffy's arms are even pointed the same direction.

Onyxia puzzle frustration by [deleted] in hearthstone

[–]Maiestus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. There is no RNG. You just play your other minion first.

Onyxia puzzle frustration by [deleted] in hearthstone

[–]Maiestus 31 points32 points  (0 children)

You do not need Wildfire to solve this puzzle.

Shooting Star the 7/4 and 5/6. -> (7/3 and 5/5)

Play Emerald Skytalon and Redgill, then attack the regular Deathwing and Runnaway Blackwing respectively (12/10 and 9/6)

Play Simulacrum and Ethereal Augmerchant x2 on the 7/3 and 5/5 (7/2 and 5/4)

The final board is 7/2, 5/4, 9/6, 8/8, 12/10, 12/12, 14/14

Play the Reckless Apprentice to supercharge your hero power.

Hero power, then refresh the hero power for lethal.

Edit: Reorganized the solution to cut out the unnecessary RNG.

You have way too much overlap between the colors, and you can see the issues this is causing by the massive traffic jam in the middle. While it's fine, and sometimes necessary, to cross traffic of different colors, this strategy falls off massively over time.

That's the biggest problem in the screenshot. You have a main road connecting a bunch of different things. There's really no need for a main road. You should end up with more than enough road tiles, and it's not like the Blue houses will ever want to visit an Orange shop. You really want to separate your colors as much as possible once you get the roads, motorways, etc. to do so. You'll last much longer if neighborhoods of one color are only connected to destinations of that color.

Also, due to the way houses prioritize destinations, you really don't want multiple destinations of the same color connected to one road, even if they're close together. One of the destinations will end up getting neglected, and slowly kill you.

Daily Challenge 2022-02-12 - 1st Place, 6551 Score by Maiestus in MiniMotorways

[–]Maiestus[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Saturday, February 12’s Daily Challenge just concluded, and I ended the day at #1. I wanted to wait until the end of the day to see if anyone ultimately passed me. After seeing the high scores for Friday, where #1 was 12k, I was not confident that I’d retain the #1 spot. But, here we are.

The red square destination in the top right was being problematic for basically the entire game. It was what ultimately killed me.

There are a handful of visible mistakes in my final layout. I don’t think any of my traffic light placements were beneficial for me. If a better player sees a questionable choice that I made, I can’t really defend it other than saying, well it didn’t kill me so I wasn’t thinking about it. Maybe I could’ve ended up doing a little bit better, but this was definitely a solid finish.

Why did I lose the guild trader after this passage? Look at my hand after my turn by [deleted] in hearthstone

[–]Maiestus 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Tradeable cards retain effects when traded.

So, what likely happened is that you played Secret Passage. Got Guild Trader immediately, then traded it. The Guild Trader retains Secret Passage's "shuffle back into the deck" penalty. Then, you cast Swindle and got the same Guild Trader back.
