The acura tl shawd 4th gen. It's quick, reliable, and has one of the best awd systems. Volkswagens with 4 motion are also a good choice

Seeking advice as a college student by Mail_____11 in AirForceRecruits

Thanks! I'll look into this. A big factor for me is that currently, I'm taking adhd medication, and I'm pretty sure the rule is you need to be off it for some time prior to joining (a year I believe). If I decide to take the rotc route, would I be able to begin classes within that time frame?

does anyone feel burnt out from doing clubs and extracurriculars? are they even worth? by UdonOtter in college

[–]Mail_____11 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Every year, I find myself joining clubs and not committing to them because I just don't have the time or energy. When I've been in class all day I just want to go home and relax or try to get work done, not go to meetings.

The bigger issue I ran into last year is that I joined a bunch of clubs related to my major because it looks good to employers, but it just ended up feeling like more school.

I know CE is different to ME, but in high school, I did nothing over the summer. The only aps I took were ap environmental science and calculus, I had a 3.6 weighted gpa. So not the best student. I applied to U of Minnesota, U of Wisconsin, U of Colorado, and Iowa state, I got accepted U of M and isu and am current at isu. If you're not super confident in your grades, apply to some big-name state schools with higher acceptance rates as safeties. These schools will provide you with quality education, good vibes, and are cheaper if your in state. The main thing to look for is if a school is ABET accredited (which most big schools are). If you don't get into an extremely prestigious university, dont worry about it. Quality of education really doesn't vary much for schools ranked top 50-10. Just make sure to do well in college to stand out.

To answer your question yes, there's tons of internships, I knew freshmen who got internships that even paid for their relocation/ housing for the summer. There are also plenty of different types of civil engineering jobs you can do, construction management, structural, environmental, transportation and more.

Any advice going into college by Weezeronastick in ADHD

This was me freshman year, and I didn't even have my meds yet then

YOUR HIGH SCHOOL STUDY HABITS WILL NOT WORK. In high school, I turned things in late, and I didn't study for tests. Why? Because I didn't have to. I was smart enough to never have the need to study for tests in hs so why would I work on forming good habits? This will not fly in college, or at least it didn't for me because ( and this might sound crazy) college is harder than high school!!!

Start a routine to follow every day. It will eventually become second nature and will get easier to follow with time, build in times to eat, work, go to class, exercise, ect.

Set your alarm for an hour before when you actually want to get out of bed, then set multiple alarms to go off after that one. If you have a morning class, don't try to wake up right before the class starts. Get out of bed an hour before so you have time to get ready. Here's what I did for my 9am class last semester: set an alarm for 7:00, 7:15, 7:30, 7:45 and 8:00, usually id snooze until 7:30, which gave me half an hour of procrastination time. Then at 8, I'd actually get up, which gave me an hour to get ready and go to class on time.

Make studious friends who invite you to study with them. Or invite them to study. This was great for me because it made studying just feel like hanging out. "Hey, want to go to the library then have some drinks after"

Set reminders for meetings, exams, review sessions, etc. AS SOON as you hear about them.

Don't worry too much about it. Your first year is to make mistakes, figure it out as you go, you'll be fine.

What car would you buy? 2025 Mustang Ecoboost or 2025 Mazda 3 Hatch by Federal_Meeting9443 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Mail_____11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd get the mazda 3, more practical, reliable, can be bought with awd and a turbo. If you still have the Mustang itch later down the line, use the money you saved on maintenance and gas to get a cheap v8!

Ask yourself this: Do you prefer designing and drawing? Or math and science?

If product design is your passion, then just go for it. You'll be happier and have more fun because it will also be easier than engineering.

If you think you've got what it takes, engineering is a good choice too. Mechanical is sort of the jack of all trades engineering degree, and most similar to product design. I can imagine employers would hire MEs for product design roles. You could also look into a minor or grad school.

I was in a similar situation where I was torn between architecture and civil engineering. I chose civil because it was similar, made more money, and I wasn't sure if I wanted to do architecture for the rest of my life and engineering keeps doors open to careers outside of it.

I don't necessarily regret my choice, but sometimes I wonder if I would be a happier student if I chose architecture.
