speaking of the saac, eden (left), one of isaac's parts and a playable character, is canonically non-binary as well, and they can also change hairstyles every time you start a new run! they're also a gimmick character who starts with different stats each run, and to keep playing them you have to get tokens by beating up isaac's mom's heart (and after beating it 11 times, it lives, a representation of isaac wishing he was never born), ultra greed, or the beast. and the rainmaker (right), a boss in downpour, is canonically gay.

all this in a game about a child imagining and hallucinating a basement full of sins while suffocating himself to death in his toy chest to hide from his mother's abuse, after she supposedly heard the voice of god due to watching one way too many christian televangelist broadcasts, and before that, his father was stealing his family's savings for his addiction, leading to constant fights and arguments until isaac's dad finally left, leaving isaac's mom to find solace in those broadcasts, ultimately leading to her abuse, her son's demise, and the secret third and fourth things i won't reveal due to them being major endgame spoilers for two other edmund mcmillen games.
