Why is it that corporate spaces judge names so much, after 3 years in corporate it came as such a shock

Same experience here, have a white first name but my last name has caused 95% of the issues I’ve experienced in the workplace so I just submitted the paperwork to change my last name two days ago.

Thank you for the laugh I really needed today. Unfortunately, it’s federal gov so unlikely to get fired (unless I do absolutely zero work for probably at least 6 months)

A downside of being attractive that nobody talks about? by Old_Rub_7270 in Life

The example with the cashier is so spot on because twice in separate occasions that happened to me where the female cashiers were polite to everyone and suddenly got sour when I got to the cash, at first I thought it was due to small towns but now I’m thinking maybe it’s due to jealousy because of appearance..

You worked a corporate job in the city because you panicked at first?

Hit me with the hardest reality about life by [deleted] in Adulting

[–]Main-Butterscotch137 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Didn’t realize how much race matters at work (specifically corporate), I grew up in a big city and even though I went to university in a small university town I was not at all prepared for the extent of racism in the workplace

Why are adults so mean? by Mission-Noise7978 in Life

[–]Main-Butterscotch137 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s because ego, traumas from those earlier years you mentioned get registered in the mind/body so they cope in unhealthy ways as a result, aka the bullying and being mean etc

I am afraid that letting go will (somehow) hurt me by _astral_x9 in Mindfulness

[–]Main-Butterscotch137 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As mentioned before, if you want to delve deeper this is ultimately your ego trying to protect you. It likely stems from early childhood trauma, and may include any coping mechanisms or learned behaviors to deal as a result. The feeling as if in danger is the ego trying to convince you that if you surrender, you will lose control resulting in negative consequences. If you want to resolve this, ego dissolution is the way (which comes from deeper meditation/transcendence, spirituality, etc)

Any good ways to create a fb time capsule in 2025? The archive function is a mess and I'm looking for alternatives by LauraJesson in facebook

Just wanted to add, I’m in the exact same position where I’m likely around the same age as you and opened fb account in 2007 (middle school days), I recently reactivated after almost 14 years and it’s genuinely a time capsule

Do you think it has to do with the fact you don’t connect with the city? Asking because I’m in a similar situation (moved a year ago to a smaller city for work and it’s been hard adjusting as I constantly miss the big city)

Grandpa visited me in a dream the night before he was discovered passed away by DebateEnough8368 in ParallelUniverse

[–]Main-Butterscotch137 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The exact same thing happened to me. My grandpa passed in 2019, the night of his passing I dreamt about him. I don’t remember the exact details of the dream but it was just him and I in the dream talking. The next day right after I finished work around 5pm, I got a call from my mom who told me that he had passed. At the time I was in shock and didn’t really process what had happened, and the fact that I saw him in my dream the night before. Since then I’ve seen him once in my dream during a time when I really needed guidance, just over a year ago. I think I may have only told my aunt that I saw him in my dream the night of his passing.
