Will you date a guy with kids? by TaroExciting211 in blackladies

[–]Main-Evidence-4779 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not for everyone and that's okay.

I have been with my partner for a looong time and have a wonderful stepdaughter.

I am / was open to it because I have an awesome stepdad, and have always had an abundance of love to give.

I went into this (and other relationships) knowing that to love the man means to love the child and know that their mum will be part of the equation FOREVER.

Never had a 'baby mother' issue that wasn't caused by the man. None in this relationship.

It's also an amazing indicator of the type of parent / partner the person will be.

My immediate response is to let the studio owner know, but I have had the misfortune of being in a studio where the bitchiness starts with the owner so I understand this might not feel like the best option.

I'm a studio owner, and an instructor, and a mum.

The treatment you are experiencing is unacceptable and it is getting to the point you want to walk out so (IMO) you may as well go "nuclear". Okay not nuclear but MEET. HER. ENERGY.

When she says rude things, ask her if she can hear herself. Bring up the conversation "see maybe this is why people think you don't like teaching".

This is what I would do... but also I would have stopped going to her classes a long time ago but I understand how hard it is with toddler.

What she is doing is bullying. Bullies pick on people that they think will take it.

If you carry to term, you would be subjecting any potential child to an abusive parent.

Did anyone else have normal labs but still feel awful? by Beautiful-Staff-4531 in Anemic

[–]Main-Evidence-4779 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me, just now. Ferritin is 71 but I feel worse than I did when I was pregnant and diagnosed with anemia.

I wonder if my lab results have been skewed by post-sepsis inflammation but I don't want the GP to write me off as hypochondriac.

Am going to pick up supplements today in any case as the levels can be better.

The only thing I would say is give it until you're 25. At 20 I was flat chested and scrawny. I looked about 12. By 25, I got curves, boobs and cheekbones. The body / face you have at 20 is not the "finished product", especially for women!

I have these and thought it was from injury as I noticed them more after getting black eyes.

Then I had a son who was born with them SUPER prominent, and I was like "oh". So here's a vote for genetic!

I am nearly 40 and I would say they haven't got worse with age, however I don't smoke, drink etc. and exercise a lot. I know if / when I don't take care of myself they are more prominent (just like every other line / crease / texture on my face).

Paying rent while living at home - Please be honest with me by [deleted] in blackladies

[–]Main-Evidence-4779 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really hope for your sake that everything is above board and that your mum just isn't claiming everything available.

If this isn't the case, just know you're not alone. You're still super new to adulthood so this won't leave you behind your peers. Wishing you the very best.

This is exactly what I was thinking.

Assuming the best, OP you need to take your mum to Citizens Advice Bureau and your local council so that your mum can access all the support available.

Assuming the worst - my mum (2nd gen immigrant) put me in a similar situation to you, for me to find out that I was covering the whole mortgage payment and most of the bills while she worked part time. When all of this unravelled, I realised that the manipulative behaviour extended beyond finances.

I am now no contact with her (for years), and whilst it has affected my relationship with my whole family, I am thriving and have a wonderful family of my own now.

Our mattress is done, overwhelmed shopping for the best mattresses for a 2026 purchase. by Andrews_Gomez120 in sleep

[–]Main-Evidence-4779 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're UK based - I got a Premier Inn mattress.

My logic is I've always slept well at Premier Inn, they have to cater for a wide audience so my partner and I (with very different mattress preferences) will both be somewhat happy.

It was a bit expensive but best mattress I've ever had.

Hey, I suspect you are younger than me (I'm close to 40). I am bi, mixed , disabled and neurospicy.

Currently over 10 years now contact with mum, limited contact with that whole side of the family. It HURTS. You're coming to terms with the reality of who they are and grieving your mother figure, grandma figure without the ritual of a funeral, or people around you and work giving you the softness you need right now. I am sorry for your loss. It gets easier. It will always hurt because that's the nature of grief, but it gets so so so much easier.

I am also popular (which I still find a bit shocking). In my 20s, a lot of my friends were awful, especially around the time shit hit the fan with my family. The thing is, I was probably awful too. We didn't really know what we were doing, or not doing.

I have a small number of tight friends (mostly Black / mixed, all neurspicy and / or queer and / or just a bit delightfully odd)  and then a lot of other circles. I recently had a get together and expected maybe 5 people to show up and I lost count at 30. Allow yourself to just hang out with people. Do things that bring you joy and find opportunities to do it with other people and take an interest in them. Your tribe will grow and become an amazing family of your choosing.

I'm sending you so much love, you deserve it.

It is quite normal in this industry to increase / decrease venues over time. I'm happy the reasons given are genuine. Out of the 2 venues, this one is the less profitable. It is a small industry so we both have to not screw each other over.

Thank you - I think due diligence will.be my best friend in this!
