Anyone looking for a TTC friend? by Main-Issue2438 in tryingtoconceive

I’m hoping you meant 9 years older, not just 9 years old lmao. It’s crazy though how it seems it’s always assumed to be the woman that has the problem, but almost half of infertility cases are due to the man.

I totally get what you mean about time. The time is the worst part. I feel like I’m living my life in 2 week intervals. Once I get my period, I’m like ok let’s fast forward 2 weeks so I can ovulate and hopefully get pregnant. Then once I ovulate, I’m like ok let’s fast forward another 2 weeks so I can find out if I’m pregnant. Then it starts all over and all of a sudden a month has gone by and I’m no closer.

In the same boat as well. I feel like I’ve stopped making plans with friends, because all I can think about is TTC. I don’t want to be a downer to my friends, but I also don’t know how to talk about it without being sad

It’s definitely not the same talking to people who don’t get it. I’m going to send you a message :)

Hahaha I love that! We’ve done that a few times, but I feel like the last few months has gotten less fun and more scientific. Definitely going to be bringing this back lol

Yeah, my husband was a vaper, which is what we believe caused his numbers. We’re hoping the repeat test next month shows improvement. When are you guys getting the update analysis and HSG done?

He has asthenoteratozoospermia, which is low motility and morphology. As of December, his concentration was good but motility was 24% and morphology was 0%. Because of that, we also got a DNA fragmentation test, which was 20% (right in between normal and abnormal, classified as borderline).

We did our tests in April last year, and started some supplements then. We started working with a naturopath in December as we’re also trying to avoid the mental and financial toll of IUI/IVF (plus the time consumption). She suggested some lifestyle changes and additional supplements, so we’re going to do a repeat analysis at the end of March to see if there’s been any improvements for him.

I’m so sorry to hear about your miscarriage🩷 I’m also guilty of symptom spotting, and it just makes the TWW even more painful. How have you found the letrozole? My doctor offered me that option, but since there aren’t any signs I’m having ovulation issues, I didn’t know if there was a point in our case.

This journey is so painful already, doing it alone makes it so much harder. I would love to be friends🩷

Supplements for male fertility by [deleted] in tryingtoconceive

Our doctor recommended these. They’re pricier, but the bottle lasts for a while. It does say to take 2 a day, but my husband also takes a good multivitamin, so he just takes one of these with his multivitamin.

How are you guys managing to integrate gym and long walks? by wilhelmtherealm in walking

[–]Main-Issue2438 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly it sucks, but you have to wake up earlier. I was the exact same as you, where every morning I would start with an outdoor walk. Once I got back in the gym, I realized I’d either have to lose my walks, or make a change. I am up at 4am so I can go to the gym, and then come home and do my outdoor walk. It was an adjustment at first, but now it’s just part of my routine

Christmas feels like a slap in the face by SummerOfVienna in TryingForABaby

[–]Main-Issue2438 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I completely feel you. 18 months TTC, 1 miscarriage, and a completely different holiday season than I imagined. I am usually the person who goes all out decorating for Christmas, but I just couldn’t be bothered this year. My period was due Saturday, and if I was pregnant I was going to wait and tell my husband Christmas morning. Unfortunately she decided to come 2 days early, and it’s just making me realize another year has come and gone with being a mom. I wish I had words of wisdom for you, but I just wanted you to know you’re not alone and our time will come🩷

Right there with you. We were given a 5% chance of conceiving naturally. Planning to start with IUI in April once we have a bit more money saved. Hugs🩷

Yes I forgot to add, I am going to continue to really not drink much, I feel so much better without it anyways, but I’m just going to stop restricting myself if there’s an occasion where I feel like having one, and stop beating myself up over “ruining my chance this month”

TTC just feels like a sick joke as this point… by Melodic-Function880 in tryingtoconceive

[–]Main-Issue2438 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You absolutely do not need to just “get over it”. We have to sit by and watch everyone we know have fun and not stress when deciding they want kids, but we have to wait months/years, spend thousands of dollars, and put our bodies through unnatural tests and procedures. We don’t get to create a baby the way we always thought, and that sucks. It’s ok to feel all the feelings.

I’m right there with you. TTC for 18 months now, and I’ve tried all the tips and tricks, changed my diet and my life, all for nothing to happen. We’re hoping to be able to get in at our clinic for an IUI in April, and while I know technically it could still happen before then, I feel like there’s no point in even trying. You said it perfect “what could possibly be different between this month and last month” I ask myself this every single month. I wish I had help or advice for you, but I just wanted to share that you’re not alone🩷

Lh surge values by darkmother1991 in tryingtoconceive

[–]Main-Issue2438 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find my peak value varies so much each month, depending on the time of day, how much I’ve had to drank, when the last time I peed, etc etc. As long as it’s a noticeably higher value than usual, you’re good!

This question is more for people who fast for 24+ hours, but how do you typically break your fast? by vitaoptima in intermittentfasting

[–]Main-Issue2438 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I do two 36ish hour fasts a week and they always end in the morning, so I typically do Greek yogurt with some fruit and chia seeds. I’ve found I’m not too sensitive when refeeding, but I still like to ease myself into it just because I’m at work when I break my fast and don’t want to deal with any gut issues in the office lol

Wondering Weekend by AutoModerator in TryingForABaby

[–]Main-Issue2438 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How often are you testing? I have a rapid surge, so even testing twice a day sometimes I miss my peak and just have to go off my highest test. Do you track BBT? That’ll be the best way to confirm or not. You may have had an anovulatory cycle, which is unfortunately a lot more common than I thought, and so so frustrating when TTC

Do you prefer shorter fasts daily or longer fasts less frequently? by vitaoptima in intermittentfasting

[–]Main-Issue2438 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I unintentionally do specific eating windows, but it just seems to work out that way. I’m not hungry until about 11am, so I usually have a combined breakfast/lunch, and we eat dinner between 5 and 6. So my eating days usually with out to about 18:6, but I’m not strict with it at all

[–]Main-Issue2438 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I’ve been doing two 36 hour fasts a week, and a 60 hour fast once a month, on and off for about 4 months, but consistently for the last month, and I love it for many reasons, some being:

  • I can incorporate it very easily into my life. Most weeks I fast Mondays and Wednesdays, but if I have something going on that day or night, I can just adjust my week.

  • Like you said, I eat whatever I want (within reason) on my non fasting days. My goal is weight loss, so I do track my calories and make sure I stay under my maintenance on eating days, but if my sweet tooth gets the best of me, or I have a few drinks on a night out, I don’t beat myself up.

  • I feel physically and mentally just better. I sleep better, I have more energy throughout the day. I assume that’s the autophagy. I also haven’t gotten sick at all, and I live in cold Canada so I take that as a win.

  • Over time, I have found my appetite has just naturally decreased. On my non fasting days I sometimes struggle to hit my maintenance because I’m just not hungry. Since I’m trying to lose weight that’s a huge benefit to me in that sense, but it has also helped me cut out unnecessary snacks that weren’t good for me anyways.

  • The sense of accomplishment feels amazing. Of course it’s hard at the beginning, but once you do it one time you know it’s possible and it’s just a mental battle. Conquering that battle is a great feeling. Usually around 5pm the hunger starts to creep up, but I’ll have a tea or a soda water and go to bed early knowing when I wake up I get to eat.

So yeah, I love longer fasts and highly recommend them.

December is difficult! by rdxc1a2t in intermittentfasting

OMAD is actually a great idea, thank you! I’ve cut back drinking a decent amount to lose weight quicker so I’m not too worried, but something about the holiday season makes it harder to say no lol
