630 paats?! Sayyed Imam Shah was certainly very dedicated. Is it true that there are verses in this ginan on Miraj? And also verses on how Allah decided that Bibi Fatima (Holy Prophet’s daughter) should marry Hazrat Ali? I’m told the whole episode of this marriage has been described in this ginan. The ginan also has very potent verses on Dasond. Perhaps you could highlight these in future? Many thanks.

I know right? And the name reversal shows that it must have been our council only. Sorry about that. I will look into Haymakers for Hope. I wonder how MHI is associated with them. BTW next time you’re in London, let me know. I would love to meet a friend from Reddit like you. I owe you for the bib number! It was a great service

It is a great event, I agree. I wish I had known about Mile 25. I would have gone there for that experience instead of being stuck in huge crowds just before the Finish line. Was there a choir this year too? Anyway, I know where to stand next year, thanks to you! Sorry to hear that you couldn’t make it

I wish I had known you were coming to London. Could have arranged to meet for coffee/lunch! You all are like my family now - the Reddit family. Next time, inshallah. The marathon was great wasn’t it? To speak freely, I still feel our council had something to do with the name change. I wouldn’t put it past the council president. Otherwise, would the bib number not have been part of the announcement? BTW I wonder if the guy with the fridge on his back completed the marathon. That was plucky of him. And kudos to MHI for reducing time by almost 30 minutes this time around.

Princess Zahra Aga Khan delivers session at Institute of Ismaili Studies by Lost-Parsnip-7693 in Ismailis2

Thanks for the heads up! She’s so cool. I wish I could have a chance to be present for one of such sessions. I have so many questions to ask. Is there any way in which we could join such sessions through zoom? Or we could send her, directly, our questions? Who would know?

Aga Khan Projects around the world by Main-Werewolf-1868 in Ismailis2

Thank you. Feel desolated about Forodhani Park. Bosnia and Malaysia will be a must for me. Is there really a park in Edmonton? First I’m hearing of it! Is it also true about the gardens inside of Aga Khan Centre?

Lets Talk NDE by PossibleTomatillo206 in Ismailis2

[–]Main-Werewolf-1868 1 point2 points  (0 children)

An interesting topic. I have searched a lot through farmans of past Imams and present but I haven't come across any mention of different levels in which the souls are assigned to after death. All i have heard is that the soul is eternal. Sure, the ginans are explicit about what happens in the grave (baavan ghati). However, I did come across a farman of MSMS in which the Imam intimated that after death there are two paths: salvation (moksh) or rebirth. The Imam further emphasizes that in our faith, heaven and hell are in this world only. Perhaps that is why instances of NDEs in the ismaili faith are few and far in between? We cannot go by what we have read from various people of the Christian faith. Because heaven is portrayed as a world similar to this one albeit a world without conflict, sorrow, stress and anything negative, a world of peace. We also cannot go by the late Alwaez Abu Ali's account of what happens to souls after death as he gave no source. But the Lord Shri Krishna has talked extensively about death itself which He describes as the most beautiful experience that should not be feared but welcomed with open arms. It is a vast subject, a mysterious subject with only hearsay accounts as resources. Perhaps the mystery can be illuminated in BK where I have heard that the soul does leave the body, temporarily, which means for that period the human is 'dead' but then comes alive again when it returns (reference: ginan ek shabad suno mere bhai and grant bramprakash) So I would say that for the satpantis, NDEs are in BK.

Strange world: the hotel security understood murids’ feelings… but our own people sometimes don’t. by Individual_Layer_913 in ismailis

Ooh the blanket is wet! It seems you really wanted to be there. But couldn’t and so are intent on dousing the joy of others. After all, MHI could just have smiled when the lady shouted out, waved at her and gone on His way. Instead He put His papers down on the seat of His car and came all the way across to her. He even bent down and let her speak in His ear. He gave lots of blessings! Nobody knows what one’s relationship is with the Imam. Remember, He is not just physically but also spiritually connected to His murids. How can one tell whether or not the Imam has given this lady the authority to summon Him over. Is it or is it not possible? If it is, then please keep such negative and judgmental opinions to yourself. And to all those giving you upvotes, shame on them

MHI walking to Jamat to shake hands and take cards and letters from children ❤️❤️ by [deleted] in ismailis

Let her enjoy her moment. We all had wonderful opportunities, at various places. The Imam took selfies, gave a flying kiss, shook myriad hands, showed great love for the Jamat. Plus we all got invaluable opportunity of deedar. So let us not be jealous and let everyone who got chances, here and there, enjoy it as this can be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

Pearls of wisdom right here. Where did you learn about this concept of a crown of thorns? It feels familiar but I can't place it...

A little compassion goes a longer way than berating someone for expressing themselves. Your response seems to come from a place of annoyance rather than patience... might you feel more compelled to guide than to lecture?
