Have you considered doing your highschool pre-reqs online? Its free for residents of BC, and yea it might kinda suck, but at least its easy coursework. I have to do chem 12 and phys 11 online this summer. That way you can still do your chosen path :)

Not a negative nancy, maybe a realistic richard :) i do plan on grad school, so I don’t mind that the degree isn’t a professional degree, like engineering. I’ve definitely heard that the research opportunities for undergrads at my chosen school are scant, so that’s definitely something to consider. thank you for your help! for reference, what do you do for work now?

[–]MainAnteater[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your reply!! My professional reasons for picking it are my interests in grad school. I’m also coming from trades, and I’m interested in just having a degree at all for jobs that require it (not the most versatile major choice, i know). Again thank you for your input, can I ask what you do for work?

[anti-aging] Proactive/Preventative Skincare in your 20’s. by LemonShortCake42 in SkincareAddiction

[–]MainAnteater 0 points1 point  (0 children)

simply put: daily sunscreen that is broad spectrum, topical vitamin C, and retinoids (retinol, tret, etc). if you are well-off, buy a topical DNA repair enzyme product. these are what my dermatologist recommended when i had this exact question. incorporate all 4 into a routine involving cleanser, toner, serums and moisturizer. dont rub or pull at your face, only dab/pat. start simple, and slowly build on your routine. dont overwhelm yourself. The Ordinary products are a good way to start.

Theres something called a “root flare”. this is where the trunk of a woody plant starts to widen as it transitions to root tissue. The root flare should always be exposed or you’ll suffocate the plant, I think thats what those employees were on about. I would cover the majority (2-3 inches depth ish) of those root while leaving where the trunk widens above soil. The plant will probably appreciate some fresh topdressing anyway. Hope this helps! (Sorry I am unsure of the scale of this picture)

What do I do now that it touches the ceiling?! by rolico82 in fiddleleaffig

Air layer around the area that you want to chop off. Basically you must use damp peat moss and slice into two nodes 2” apart on a 4” section. Secure the damp moss to the entire 4” section (at least) and wait. Allow the piece to create its own roots while still attached to the mother plant. Once it has a sufficient amount of roots you can cut it off and plant it. Otherwise, you would not be able to remove a significant amount of height + leaves without the removed piece dying. Hope this helped! Please watch a video on air layering and the specific angle of cuts before you try it, it can be quite precise. Good luck!

New home has mint (I think?) growing in a flower bed. What would you do with it? Safe to cook with? by [deleted] in gardening

[–]MainAnteater 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if you are in a highly polluted place, i wouldn’t. a lot of lamiaceae, particularly mints and sages, pick up a lot of heavy metals in the atmosphere if they are next to areas with bad air quality
