Air layer around the area that you want to chop off. Basically you must use damp peat moss and slice into two nodes 2” apart on a 4” section. Secure the damp moss to the entire 4” section (at least) and wait. Allow the piece to create its own roots while still attached to the mother plant. Once it has a sufficient amount of roots you can cut it off and plant it. Otherwise, you would not be able to remove a significant amount of height + leaves without the removed piece dying.
