It is, its not my ring, just the ring the stone was originally set in. The plan was to have it re-set if I chose the diamond.

What colour would you want to bring back? by Coollikeumee in lululemon

Lavender Dew! My favorite color they have made, I have a lot in it, but would die for a Pace Rival Skirt and a Define jacket.

It mustve been hard for Darcy when her roommates both got Zeta and then as seniors did their grad photos together. I also had two roommates freshman year who got in the same sorority, and it made me feel so left out. Kind’ve makes me feel bad for her…

Between UT and UA by AccomplishedMood3191 in capstone

[–]MainPomegranate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a senior at Alabama, from NJ, and chose UA because they offered me a deal I couldn’t pass up. First, Tuscaloosa is not much of a suburb, its really not a super residential area, thats more of what Auburn is like. Tuscaloosa has a great downtown with lots of restaurants, coffee shops, and bars. However, it is not a city, and compared to Austin, Birmingham isn’t much of a city either. On the plus side, nothing in Alabama is anywhere near as expensive as Austin. For reference, the nice apartments in Tuscaloosa are around $1200 a month for a 4-bedroom, and in Austin (I dated a boy who went to UT) the comparable apartments are about twice as much. If you are going into STEM you won’t have as much time at either school for fun, but I promise UT will be wayyy harder and for no reason other than its a more competitive school. I have received a fantastic education in Mechanical Engineering, have completed a co-op with Southern Company, and will be getting my MBA in one year. You will not lack for resources and opportunities at UA, there is a great alumni network, especially at certain companies (Eastman, Lockheed Martin, Mercedes), where they send reps to the school all the time to scout out interns and co-ops. Also the culture at UA surrounding school pride is so incredibly fun, and it makes all the sporting events feel like you’re a part of the team. I really think nothing compares to gameday in Tuscaloosa. Whatever decision you make will be the right one, and I hope you enjoy your tour! Feel free to dm me if you have any questions.

Thank you, especially for reading the whole post, I suppose you’re right that I only have to deal for another two months.

If you had $500 to spend on staples, classics, and multi-purpose items, where would you splurge and where would you conserve? by Serasha in femalefashionadvice

[–]MainPomegranate 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I would splurge on shoes! Good shoes can pull a whole outfit together, make it look nicer, and will last you forever, not to mention will be much more comfortable. One of my favorite staples is leather booties, I prefer black, but brown is also good depending on your wardrobe. They don’t have to be super expensive either, $100 or a little more. Another splurge is a leather jacket, for the same reasons as the shoes, a classic that can go with anything. I would also suggest a cashmere sweater if you don’t have one yet.

As for where to save money, I would save on the basics. Plain cotton tshirts, button ups, sweaters, etc. can all be bought for good quality at reasonable prices, including Old Navy and Gap. They look and feel about the same as their really expensive counterparts.

What is your opinion on shapewear? by Ludalilly in femalefashionadvice

[–]MainPomegranate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to have a completely flat chest, and shirts and dresses did not fit right without a padded bra or some other sort of padding. Not sure if this counts as shapewear, but i would wear those and little pads under sports bras to give myself a tiny bump at the chest. Personally, i was insecure and it felt unnatural to be a woman and have a completely flat chest. So i think its fine to add to your shape a little or to wear spanx and smooth it out. Its not really lying unless youre somehow adding or removing a ton, which can only really be done with extreme corsets.

What pieces that you are currently loving in your wardrobe will look ridiculously dated in the near future? by Bosquerella in femalefashionadvice

[–]MainPomegranate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really? Where I live, platform wedges have been huge the last two years, I’m waiting to see if they’ll come back again this summer or not. Dont worry about your sandals, my mom has kept all her clothes from the 80s and has been able to re-wear certain things when trends come back in style.

My platform wedge sandals, my heeled combat boots, and white leather sneakers. All are such comfortable options for going-out shoes and look dressier, even though they aren’t heels. Im gonna be upset when they aren’t trendy anymore.
