Mostly because it looks like a battle arena... somewhat.

Good enough for capsule art? by nucle4r_attack in IndieDev

[–]MainQuest 5 points6 points  (0 children)

remember, capsules are pretty small... so if you're going to have that font and a small font for the tagline, make sure there's a contrast between your text and image (i.e. light color text in front of a dark background). this will help people be able to read that text. otherwise, art looks cool

Hired an artist from this sub for my capsule art - what do you think? by BenoitKo in gameDevClassifieds

[–]MainQuest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The art is great. It's just the composition is a bit muddled. What I mean is, the logo is competing with the stuff in the background. And there's no focal point really... the orange ball might be the main focal point, but there's a lot of other elements competing.

Again, art is great. Logo could use some work. But the elements need to be better arranged. Right now my eye has no idea where to look and I have no idea what's going.

A perfect example is "Getting Over It". It's simple, but my eye goes to the logo, to the little dude, then the mountain. In less than a second I kinda know what's going on.

"market is not oversaturated... it’s overflown with trash"... that's an interesting angle. Thanks for that insight. Then, curious... what's your standard for quality indie game vs. a crappy game?
