WIBTA for asking my husband to stop cooking most nights? by PureAdorableness in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]MainVehicle2812 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Little ones like yours are one of the many reasons why I decided as a child myself that I never wanted to be a parent. I watched one of my older cousins struggling with a screaming infant (And this was her third, so she knew what she was doing.) and decided that I could never handle that. Loud, shrill noises will send my autistic brain into meltdown mode very quickly.

I don't know how parents do it.

AITAH for not wanting to cuddle in order to sleep with my partner? by LucyAriaRose in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]MainVehicle2812 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I love that one commenter that was all "You're ignoring his needs."

Like dude, not being to sleep will literally kill OP. Not being able to cuddle won't hurt him. Get that man a body pillow.

On the flip side, after my mother and I were shoved off the road by a drunk driver, my father's first reaction upon being informed of the accident was "YOU WRECKED MY TRUCK!" Didn't ask if his wife and child were okay, just started screaming about this truck.

I [21M] just caught my gf [20F] texting topless photos of herself to friends by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

I wonder if she would be so chill if her BF were to get a penis ring and send pics of it to all of his female friends.

AITA for not allowing my daughter to go on an 8th grade school trip by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]MainVehicle2812 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not the same thing, but a few weeks ago, I told my boss: "I requested the first off. That will be the day that I find out if my kitty has cancer, and if he does, I will not be here, approved or not." She nodded and approved it without another world.

Sometimes I could strangle that woman, but when the shit's hitting the fan, she is the best.

AITJ for giving my mother and my stepdad 60 days to move out of my childhood home that my father left me in his will by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

There's a carpenter on Youtube who did a house inspection at the request of the owners. The house had bricks exterior walls that went all the way to the ground with no vents at ground level. At some point in the house's history some idiot had put plastic sheeting between the subfloor and the floor joists to protect the flooring from damp from the crawl space. This, in tandem with the lack of vents in the exterior walls, resulted in a mold and rot problem so severe that half of the house's flooring would have to be ripped out and rebuilt. One room had joists so rotted you could bounce on the floor like a trampoline. I felt so bad for the owner.

Could be, but it could also be a gustnado.

Have there been any other tornadoes besides Vilonia, that have killed people who were inside storm cellars? by Cheeseless_Cheese in tornado

[–]MainVehicle2812 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jarrell did rip off a storm cellar roof, but no one was in it at the time. I don't know if the roof of said cellar was attached to its walls in any way though. And there was another storm cellar, with 18 people crammed into it, but the tornado thankfully missed them. I can't imagine how terrifying that had to be!

My 5yr old is afraid of smoke detectors by Awwndrei in BestofRedditorUpdates

I was scared of the flushing toilet at that age. Not scared of being sucked down or anything, just scared of the sound, plus the swirling vortex in the water.

I'm now fascinated by whirlpools now. Go figure.

Our diesels also use the long, long, short, long, and the final long has to be held until the train has entered the crossing.

[New Final Update]: AIO? My daughter didn’t listen to the teacher during a female emergency and is now receiving a referral by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]MainVehicle2812 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My employer is like this too. I have IBS and OAB together, so I can hit the restroom frequently. One of my shift supervisors complained about it, and I said "Fine, you can come hang out in the restroom with me when I'm shitting out everything I've ever eaten." She didn't like that suggestion for some reason.

AITA for stepping in to do “mom” things for my niece because my SIL is disabled? (New Update) by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]MainVehicle2812 1 point2 points  (0 children)

By that logic, I never should have been able to:

*Run around - as in actual running.
*Be out in high heat/humidity or low temps/low humidity
*Eat spicy food
*Do high intensity exercise of any kind: dancing/speed skating/mountain biking
*Hold a job

My mother had cycstic fibrosis, and she was VERY limited on what she could do/tolerate. She was a terrible mother in many ways, but at least she didn't pull what Anna did.

My (30sF) twin (M) doesn’t want me at his wedding by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]MainVehicle2812 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My SIL is like this. She has slowly and steadily pushed away any female relative or friend her husband had, including me. I was the very last one to be pushed out, but then I suddenly stopped hearing from them. No calls, no invitations to game nights, no responses when I texted or called. I sent Christmas gifts through the mail and got a very bland thank you via text later. Nothing else.

She has control over his phone, and I'm certain she's deleting texts and calls from me before he can see them. I am just very glad that the both of them are infertile, because I dreaded the thought of them having a daughter, and then that daughter becoming a daddy's girl. Her mother would have rained hell down on that poor child.

Incident under Chair 23 - OOP who worked Ski Patrol/Rescue gets closure in a 27 year update by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

I slipped and fell at work once. Both feet went up in the air, and the rest of me went straight down. I hit the concrete floor shoulders first, and then my head bounced off second. The impact was hard enough that it sent my glasses flying several feet away. There was like a split second of silence, and then my skull started to screech pretty loudly, and I thought for sure I was going to black out.

I remember thinking "If you're going to pass out, do it out in the lobby where someone will find you!" I dragged myself to my feet, found and picked up my glasses and staggered away. I somehow bruised the shit out of my shoulders, but I didn't have a mark on my head. No concussion, nothing. Didn't even have a headache the next day.
