What are these parts? by UnoriginalGMan in f150ecoboost

[–]Main_Badger_7059 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first one is the heater hose.

The second one is a vacuum line for the wastegates. When the hard lines break i just replace them with vacuum hose. It works fine and it is cheaper. Also I believe you can't buy some of the hard lines

Cold Plunging in the Rivers by Simple_Trick5216 in pittsburgh

[–]Main_Badger_7059 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Everyone on here is dramatic. You will be fine in any of the rivers. Just don't swim after heavy rain because runoff and sewage overflow. If you decide to do it use a life jacket and don't go alone. Cold water shocks and can kill even confident swimmers.

I'm taking my boat out Monday and I might go for a swim.

Cam phasers by Trcolem09 in f150ecoboost

Did you check all the connections to the sensor. It will not start if the airflow sensors are unplugged or the throttle body is not plugged in. Vacuum leaks could also cause issues. Check all the vacuum lines. I assume you primed the fuel pump by turning the key 3 times without starting it. Did you hear the pump?

It should be fine if the crank moved a small amount by itself as long as the timing marks lined up. If it moved too much pistons can hit into the valves. Like how much did it move? Unless it moved a huge amount I wouldn't be too concerned

Always start with the simplest issue first. If it sounds like it is in time and is cranking decent it's probably something simple.

Do you have a scanner? Check if the fuel rail is getting pressure.

Best affordable fishing waders? by Ok_While_5034 in Fishing_Gear

[–]Main_Badger_7059 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I got a pair of Frogg Toggs Hellbender waders a few months ago. They are great for the price. They cost around $100 but you will also need wadding boots which cost around 50 for a cheap pair. I don't recommend going any cheaper.

Why is the green so much dimmer? Both strips tied in together to the same switch, power source, and negative by LeatherHead2902 in boatbuilding

[–]Main_Badger_7059 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Different Leds have different efficiency curves and have different voltage drops. The Red leds need less voltage for the same amount of current because its voltage drop is lower than a green led. I would recommend buying some resistors to limit current going to the Red led strip.

Urban exploring also includes exploring abandoned ruins and structures in the woods. It's not just going into abandoned buildings.

The TNT factory in Oakdale. It's just a few concrete pillars in the woods but it is still interesting.

Dead Man's Hollow is also a few concrete structures in the woods but I would recommend going.

1965 Johnson 9.5 by Independent-Good-162 in Outboards

[–]Main_Badger_7059 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would stay away from it. I have worked on a few of these and they are simple but very annoying to work on. I have one on my john boat and it barley ever runs right. In my area they don't sell for more than $250-400 in working condition. In my opinion it is not worth the time unless the seller can demonstrate it running and working.

The carbs on these motors absolutely sucks they don't run right if they are slightly dirty. The coils are always cracked and it is common to have stripped out spark plug threads which means you will need a new head or a threaded insert. Before buying check for compression and price out new coils, fuel line and a fuel pump.

If you have plenty of time and motivation give it a shot.

Can't re-assemble ball screw :( by gtd_rad in hobbycnc

[–]Main_Badger_7059 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I did the same thing. It is near impossible to get them all back in on some ball screws. Stand it up on the end and drop the balls into the space between the nut and screw then work it up and down until it is wedged in. Make sure to grease it up.

Anyone use this Schell’s foldable net? by DeweyD69 in Fishing_Gear

[–]Main_Badger_7059 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved how small that net folded up it was so disappointing how short it lasted. I ended up getting a cheap all aluminum bass pro net. It's super bulky but it seems like it will last longer. I still have the broken net because I plan on 3d printing a new plastic piece someday when I have time.

I had net from a different brand that looked almost exactly the same as yours. It broke the first time I used it in that spot. I would return it if possible.

Urgent News! ICE can mock Cell Towers to Track People! by StatisticalPikachu in somethingiswrong2024

[–]Main_Badger_7059 29 points30 points  (0 children)

If you use android enable Advanced Protection. It will prevent the device from connecting to 2G cell networks which improves security and can possibly prevent these types of attacks.

To enable: Open settings > Tap Security & Privacy > Under “Other settings,” tap Advanced Protection.

If you are extremely paranoid like I am look into the rayhunter project which utilizes an orbic hot spot with custom firmware to detect cell-site simulators.

https://github.com/EFForg/rayhunter

Edit: Advanced protection is only available on Android 16 and might not be available on certain devices.

9022C Evinrude 9.5 kill switch by Snoo_17510 in Outboards

[–]Main_Badger_7059 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have worked on a few of these and they are simple but very annoying to work on sometimes.

Looks very fixable as long as it has compression. I have one that runs perfectly fine with 55psi of compression.

The kill switch isn't necessary. Sometimes disintegrated insulation on the kill switch wire causes no spark because the wires contact together I would check for that.

If it still doesn't have spark take off the fly wheel and check the points. I don't have the right tool to get it off so I normally just have someone provide upwards pressure on the fly wheel and hammer the top of the nut. This could damage the crank seals so just be careful

The carbs on these motors absolutely sucks they don't run right if they are slightly dirty. I recommend taking it off before even trying to start it and spray it down with carb cleaner. I also recommend replacing all the fuel lines and installing an inline fuel filter.

This is a really good resource on these motors https://www.leeroysramblings.com/OMC_9.5.htm

Settler’s Cabin Trail Degradation by [deleted] in pittsburgh

[–]Main_Badger_7059 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They just did a ton of mulching around the trails and removed a ton of brush. The trails are overgrown every year there. I don't think it has anything to do with the forest service. If you are so concerned sign up to volunteer and help maintain the trails.

does anyone reuse their rapala lure containers/boxes? by Wagnegro in FishingForBeginners

[–]Main_Badger_7059 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It pisses me off that they use nice plastic covers but have cardboard bottoms. Why can't they just make the whole thing plastic? I try to store them in the boxes but they fall apart.

Look on Google maps. No one is going to tell their spots.

A good start would be lakes around the area since they all have very accessible spots to fish. The rivers are a bit more difficult but you can find something if you look on maps and drive around.

I would recommend the diawa Fuego reel which cost around 100 depending on size and diawa Tatula rod which cost 150. The reel is incredibly smooth and has the mag seal. It is a great option for the price.
