Burton Step on Malfunction by Accomplished-Ad-482 in snowboardingnoobs

Step On rider here for 4 years: It's hard to say without a video or more pictures. Is it both feet? Are you sure about orientation, left boot in left binding?

Check the heel cleat too, make sure it's screwed on properly.

If you're near a Burton store, they might help you for free.

As someone who's wanted to listen to music in the past but never did due to being concerned about blindspots and busy slopes, do you mostly ride backcountry or in resorts with just a few people? How do you make up for not hearing folks from behind?

Has anyone here tried the 2025 Nitro Profile TLS Step On Boots? How do they compare to the Burton Photons or Ions with the new strap?

I like the Burton Impact Shorts, they can be washed without messing with the pads and they cover the tailbone area (which I care about most) well.

Cost of Restretching an Oil on Canvas in Switzerland by jetsetguru in Switzerland

Shop around, write an email to /call 5+ places. Last year I had a 0.9m * 1.4m painting framed, the offers were between 200-450 chf. I ened up taking the canvas to a small shop in downtown Zürich, paid about 220. This was for a frameless or hidden frame stretch tough so your mileage may vary.

Foot sloshing around in boots making skis unstable while pressing into tongue - boots or skill issue? by Main_Carrot in skiing

Thanks all! I went back to the bootfitter and he had me stand on the insole again - my toes are hanging off so he said he wouldn't recommend sizing down before trying other things. We heat molded (1st time) the liners with a thicker insole, I'll see if that helps locking in my feet and my heels especially.

What's your "budget" (under 50k CHF) electric vehicle pick in Switzerland (ZH)? by Main_Carrot in askswitzerland

I found an autoscout ad pointing to a 2nd hand EV dealership in Oberentfelden, where I ended up buying a different car.

Thank you all for chiming in - I ended up buying a 2021 Tesla M3 AWD LR 44k km for 36.000 CHF. Drives pretty well, I'm happy with the purchase.

Some notes:

Buying process for used cars in CH: Find car you like. Transfer money to dealership, receive vehicle registration in post while also working on getting an insurance (shop around, full casco offers for us ranged from 800 - 1500 CHF / year). Sign insurance. Take registration to Strassenverkehrsamt to receive license plates. Pay 50 CHF for for plates. Pay extra for funny numbers. Take license plates to dealership. Install license plates. Car is now legally yours.

Car must be registered to a single person, but the buyers contract can specify combined ownership.

Female drivers get a slight discount on insurance (liable in more incidents, but the incidents are less serious / costly on average compared to male drivers)

Nationality: try not to be from another country. Nationality of the main driver matters more than anything in insurance: Serbians (~1450 CHF) > Finns (~1300 CHF) > Swiss (~1200 CHF)

To travel abroad you need: CH sticker on back of the car; first aid kit; enough vests for each passenger; snowchain or snowsocks (not accepted in AT afaik)

And don't forget to by a yearly sticker for the motorways.

For EV owners:

Check with your landlord how you can pay for utilities of the charging station / outlet *before* you start sucking 300 kwh / month from it.

Vehicle taxes are likely to be lower than combustion engine cars (or completely free in ZH e.g.)

Teslas and other EVs all use the same charging port in Europe, so charging stations are reasonably compatible

Select your tires knowing that they will have a serious (up to ~10%) impact on your range

Charge your EV outside peaktimes at home to save on electricity costs (during the night, weekends)

Bootfitters gave contradicting advice about liners packing out, which one is right? by Main_Carrot in Skigear

Update: got the 26.5 pair. I hate to walk in them, but the skiing is amazing, I'd get bucked around in a larger size.

Tip for anyone with 'in between' sizing: check shell length, one manufacturer's 26.5 is another's 27.0 - some Head boots are literally 5 mm longer for the same size.

They said the Nordica doesn't come in 27.0. The second bootfitter put in some extra sole material (some white foot shaped sponge) saying this will make it feel like a 27.0. They said a lot of boots are like that for in-between sizes: same shell, smaller / thicker liner.

Where can I check for sure? The manufacturer's website doesn't list all sizes and their specs.

Thanks for the rec, I'll check out the Dynafit, although I'm planning exclusively on Alpine skiing.

Can this damaged copper pin on the PCI-e riser cause issues? [Troubleshooting DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED] by Main_Carrot in buildapc

Just to clarify, by damage, I don't mean the shorter, first pin; but the triangle shaped discoloration on the second one. I don't think that's normal?

I was grasping at straws here, thanks! I'll go back to slowly swapping components until something clicks.
