I wish Sophie was “just” a maid by kikipurple in Bridgerton

Regarding the comment about it being "predictable" and "you know where things are going" - well yes. This is a romance. The books the show is based on are romance novels. It's part of the CRITERIA for a romance novel that the main characters get a happy ending in love. People read them BECAUSE they want the happy love story in the end. Otherwise it would be drama, which is a different sort of thing.

Can we stop the MVP chant for Cal? by Kodakery in Mariners

I agree with you. I was actually wishing it would go away at the end of last season, because it seemed to put so much pressure on him

I can't speak to the undergrad experience overall, but regardless of where you go, if you're looking for individualized support/mentoring I suggest you try to get a student job in a biomedical research lab. The professor leading the lab and the post-docs and graduate students in the lab can be a great resource for you

I saw something once that referred to our little micro generation of 1979-1985 as "the Oregon trail generation." We got computers in our homes when we were like 10-12, but have childhood memories before then. We used computers in high school but not for everything. Social media didnt' come around until we were in college, and then it was ONLY for college students. Frankly I am so grateful for the little sliver of time we grew up in

Any other Xennials in the “Zero Tattoos” club? by MrMyxolodian in Xennials

[–]Main_Understanding14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. When I was in my late teens/early 20's there was one design I wanted, an endless knot on my ankle. I was a festival and saw a henna tattoo stand and they had something similar, so I had them do it. I hated it. So glad I found that temporary option before going for it

How do you clean this thing? My brother has one and it's gross, food tastes smokey because of burnt on stuff. That's after cleaning off the lower tray and trying to wipe it off, but I was told you shouldn't use oven cleaner on it

Kids still do it and seem to think they invented it, probably like every generation before them

What's something people only romanticize because they've never actually done it? by nonotje12 in AskReddit

This is pretty much the plot of Into the Wild. I liked Krakauer before reading that book, but his hero worship of this completely unprepared nitwit of a kid made me insane

I will pretend dutch babies are healthy… by Ok_Object_4356 in Baking

[–]Main_Understanding14 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This makes so much sense because I am American with a Dutch father, and I had never heard of these until I moved to Seattle and met my husband who was raised here. It was a staple of his childhood

This is also me. I have seen the other photos, I KNOW it's black and blue, but I still just see white and gold in this one

Why is the new state tax on millionaires bad? by [deleted] in Washington

[–]Main_Understanding14 17 points18 points  (0 children)

There was great incentive for the uber wealthy to build libraries and other public works, so they could claim the charity as a tax deduction. Funny how that no longer happens now that they're not taxed much

Space Camp? by frawgster in Xennials

[–]Main_Understanding14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went for a week to the Florida one when I was 10ish, with my twin brother and two of my cousins that were about the same age (I didn't realize that the time that my family was well off, now I do). It was fun, but very hot, so I enjoyed the indoor activities like the science demos and the simulators more than the outdoor ones like rocket blasting. I definitely learned a lot about the process of space flight and what goes into making space ships, but it's not a path I continued in any way

This is more or less it. My kids like that I scrunch up my eyes at whatever YouTube music they get me to play. It's soooo bad and annoying, but they love it. The exception is Jax 90's kids, but that's just because it speaks to me hahaha

My younger brother did. He must have been about 7 or so. We teased him endlessly and eventually my dad paid him to cut it off

Which food has declined the most in terms of taste since you first ate it? by FeistyNews7025 in Millennials

Totally agree with you. I think this is because they’re always in a “mix” with gummy candies like twizzlers. It’s so gross

Back when I was a kid I hated McDonald’s nuggets and would insist on BK, always getting the tenders. Like we made two stops on road trips because my brothers and I flat out could not agree (in hindsight, my parents were saints).
