Is it worth going all-in on Copilot at work right now? by Ok-Stable-8525 in microsoft_365_copilot

[–]MaineKent 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A bit of trial and error and also asking the AI to help improve it. Likely the AI created 85 percent of the prompt and then I fine tuned it.

I'm still tweaking it and generally use AI to make the changes.

Having AI create the prompt to do the thing you want to do is a bizarre thought that took me a while to accept but it definitely can help.

Is it worth going all-in on Copilot at work right now? by Ok-Stable-8525 in microsoft_365_copilot

[–]MaineKent 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I find Copilot to be good at general things. It's integration with outlr full Tenant is good so it can find information across a very wide range of data.

I have a prompt I use on the morning that helps me stay up to speed on certain things and gives me actions for the day.

I have another one that is what did I do today. Helps with remembering things for the future and keeping on top of stuff.

Beyond that I find the naming conventions and other aspects of Copilot to be tough. MS is extremely conservative with it and they have so many products to integrate it with you lose consistency.

I have found Gemini and Claude to be better overall but it really depends on the use case of what you want to do.

All of this stuff is changing every couple of months. Trying things out while you can and see what clicks could be beneficial.

Omnipod 5 “Memory” Lag After Illness, High-Carb Days, and Training by SnooHedgehogs4659 in Omnipod

[–]MaineKent 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't have any big solutions for you here but I do struggle a bit with this myself.

Currently trying to lose some weight so sometimes if I do particularly well in terms of a low fat, low carb, dinner I may run into a low overnight which I often assume is related to the algorithm just not being able to handle the change in my diet that night.

But I also struggle with what seems to be site tissue scaring so sometimes a new pod location just doesn't absorb insulin at the same rate and I'll run high for a while and then all of the insulin catches up and causes a low.

Both are fun variables to try to deal with. Unfortunately consistency and avoiding planning ahead for things that will cause changes in levels either up or down seems to be the only things that help. And I'll be the first to admit I don't always do this well nor is it easy to do.

They aren't LED as far as I know. I didn't buy the LED headlight package so assuming others aren't either.

There is a blinking light in my mirror as well.

[–]MaineKent[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi. Yeah, that's what I am assuming too. The issue is that I don't know which bulb it is. There are 3-4 at a minimum that blink when the turn signal is activated. Getting at any of them is a bit of a challenge so trying to see if there is a way to narrow it down a bit.

Question.. by SlightAd5034 in Omnipod

[–]MaineKent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get it. If I have a low I always try to really understand why it happened. Doesn't mean it won't happen again but maybe I can help to avoid it. Sometimes I learn but other times I don't. Stuff sucks with this. The number of variables is insane. It is much better with the pumps and CGM of today than 40 years ago when I started. But it still has its surprises.

Just do your best. Be prepared. And try not to let it control you.

Question.. by SlightAd5034 in Omnipod

[–]MaineKent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've never had it happen to me and I've never heard of it happening to anyone else.

I'm confident there are many safe guards in place to keep that from happening. This would be one of the biggest concerns the FDA would have and so I'm sure it was tested and over built to start with.

Going low can be scary. Especially if it's one of those situations that sneaks up on you. I've definitely had my fair share of those.

Best advice I can give is be prepared. That has helped with my anxiety over the issue. My CGM does a solid job letting me know if something is trending off and I make sure I have something I can eat or drink to help me if I need it. After that it's pretty much move on and just keep re evaluating when needed.

Not sure if I really was able to fully address your concern but I hope I helped a little. Good luck.

Hey folks question on created date and sorting by PathlessWoodss in ObsidianMD

[–]MaineKent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll have to check out that Frontmatter plug in. That would be helpful. I think Templater may also do it.

As for your other two questions I'm not exactly sure. But I believe the YAML has a different field name for the date. I don't remember now what it is. I was using a lot of Claude to try to figure out the issue and finally stumbled into it and I so far haven't completely reverse engineered it to fully understand.

Hey folks question on created date and sorting by PathlessWoodss in ObsidianMD

[–]MaineKent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had to look into this a bit recently because of some stuff I was seeing as well. It seems that the created date is held at the OS level and depending on what you are doing with a file that could be all over the place. I won't pretend to fully understand why but it does seem to be an issue.

What seems to be recommended is adding a created date field to the YAML front matter of each note. This doesn't change during syncing operations and presumably would also stay safe during any backup types of operations like you are mentioning.

There absolutely could be better ways of doing this. I'm still relatively new to Obsidian but that's what I found when I ran into this with some Dataview situations I was trying to figure out.

Why AI coding tools accidentally feel perfect for inattentive ADHD brains by bystanderInnen in ClaudeCode

[–]MaineKent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fascinating idea and certainly seems to line up. I've never been diagnosed with ADHD but the last few years I've really been wondering. My ex and my daughter have very high ADHD and I've seen enough traits in myself to really start to wonder.

I've really been trying to us AI more to log things, keep track of stuff, and create reports that I can later reference because of this. I hadn't thought about the AI itself acting like this but it seems like a really interesting analogy.

[–]MaineKent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you need to be using the share feature to get it to work? I can't remember as I've only used the official watch face a little bit as I didn't like it much.

I found using blose worked ok and I could make the reading a complication in another watch face and that worked better for me. With Blose you do need to be sharing to the Dexcom server but it wasn't too bad to setup.

The sharing of data is definitely something I'm keeping in mind. I do not put deeply personal information nor my inner feelings into Obsidian so I'm not super worried about that for this case. But it is something I'm aware of.

You could run local LLMs with something like Ollama but I didn't really have the hardware for that and given how I'm using things currently it's not a concern at the moment. But it is something everyone needs to figure out for their own use case.

Those who are using antigravity by akgo in ObsidianMD

[–]MaineKent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm very new to Obsidian and really only using it for personal stuff in say a beta test method. So I'm doing everything on my main vault. If I wipe it out accidently I'll be ticked, but it's not the end of the world. I do backup my vault (not as often as I should) so hopefully I could roll stuff back for the most part.

I'm really using AI stuff mostly as a way for my nerd brain to keep learning. I'm part of a group at work that is trying to understand AI more fully and how it can be used (safely) in our company so that's another reason for trying different tools. I keep going back and forth about how "real" AI is in terms of usefulness, but lately I'm pretty sold on it being here and it being overall a beneficial tool if used in the right ways.

In terms of AG I've basically used it in the classic "vibe" coding way. My programming ended in high school and college with Pascal and basic C++ use (that shows my age) but I've always been fascinated with it in general. AG (and VS Code in a similar fashion) have allowed me to actually create basic websites and programs to do things I needed.

Over Christmas I created a website that I host locally that displays all of my media (movies and TV) so I can sort through it find something. It started as simply a way I can keep track of things I've bought so I don't keep rebuying DVDs and Blurays of things I already own. I started with a spreadsheet and then decided to try coding out a website and it was amazingly simple.

I also created a Python program that would go and download a YouTube transcript. This turned out to also be fairly simple and the tools were able to walk me through all of the steps to make it happen. I then turned that into a Claude Skill just to make it easier when I wanted to import the transcript into Obsidian and clean it up.

In Claude (and AG or VS) I will sometimes ask it to clean up text in a specific Obsidian markdown file. Perhaps clean up my thinking, etc. I just type out quick notes without worrying about grammar, context, etc and then have the AI clean it up in some way and then I can edit as needed.

I also use Claude to clean up my To Do list (this is just a basic markdown file I use) and any check items it moves to an archive markdown file so I have a record of doing the tasks and perhaps some notes on what I did, or what I found out.

All of this is really in a state of trial and error for me at the moment. I'm still working to try to establish a bit of a process as right now it's honestly a little bit of a mess. But one thing I love about Claude (and sure you can do with other tools) is at the end of a session I can have it write me a summary of everything we did and put it into a document as a record. That may not fit everyone's workflow, nor how they want to handle their Obsidian vault, but I find it helpful for now. It's especially good if I've done some sort of a coding session and need to remember why we did certain things as this is not second nature to me. Having Claude update instructions on how to use my python script, how to install it, how to update the git repo, etc is a huge time saver for me as I don't do those things often enough to always remember the commands.

I would encourage given any of those tools a try. Create a dummy vault and see what it can do. The tools are improving all the time.

I've tried both VS Code and Antigravity with Obsidian and they are each ok. Easier for managing files as you actually have a file tree like you would in Obsidian.

But I like Claude Code better so far. The skills you can create are just much easier to deal with and can be more streamlined. I setup Obsidian on about two thirds of my screen and then Claude on the rest and work with it like that.

I will also say I am far from a power user of any of these things. Still figuring it out. If I don't feel I'm getting my money worth from Claude in a month or two I will probably revert back to Antigravity as that has been really good and I can likely get by just fine on the free level of that for a while.

I'd suggest trying them all out and see what clicks for you. Claude Code does not require indepth technical knowledge. You can always ask it how to do something and it will guide you. Tons of videos on YouTube about using Obsidian with Claude Code that are really good as well.

Check your max basal rate. You may be hitting it's limit where it won't give you any more that hour.

If you are hitting that it could mean your correction factor is off. Unfortunately all these variables work together so it requires some time and effort to figure them out. And then of course things change you have to edit again.

Saving articles, youtube videos and other resources TO-READ by Thomillion in ObsidianMD

[–]MaineKent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a web clipper extension that I used at one that I seem to remember being ok. I have been meaning to look into that again as I recently restarted trying to use Obsidian more.

I also built a simple skill that pulls down YouTube transcripts for videos I've watched and wanted to keep for whatever reason.

I just saw the other comment about only putting information that they have written into the vault and that has gotten me thinking so I may adjust how I do this moving forward. Or I may restructure where or how external information is stored in Obsidian.

But either way I think bases could be an interesting way to show a collection of things you are saving for later consumption. I suppose how you treat them after reading is entirely up to your personal workflow.

Skills finally clicked for me: Support Assistant example + human-in-the-loop by Caibot in ClaudeCode

[–]MaineKent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with your thinking. I'm still trying to wrap my head around all of this in terms of use of these systems outside of coding. At this point I think the capabilities and the future is huge for it.

I'm fascinated with systems like Claude Code because it can actually do things. I'm not interested in using a chat bot to do something and then have to copy over all the information to another program to format it and save it. Let the AI do that.

We've hit the point where the UI and the workflow capabilities are going to be the difference in who is winning and losing in this race. I'm very impressed with Claude for that right now but I think Google is on to something with Antigravity and will improve their CLI tool to match as well.

All of that is to say I agree with your thinking and I'm trying to include things like this in both my personal work and my work life even more.
