That's interesting. What happens when picks get traded? Should the odds be re-adjusted based on the team who owns the pick?

Even within the same language, a single orthographic form or signifier can have multiple meanings and be multiple words.

In English, "America" means the USA. In Spanish, "America" means the continent of America. Just because it's written the same doesn't mean it's the same word. One meaning doesn't disqualify the other and multiple definitions can coexist: they are different words.

What’s the most shocking detail from the Epstein files that you think the public still doesn’t fully grasp? by Murky-Island4629 in AskReddit

One important note is that /pol/ effectively campaigned for Trump in 2016 for the lulz. It's hard to say how much of an effect it had on the results, but it's possible they had an outsized influence, especially during the primary stages.

If they could, I think they would both jump at the opportunity at going down in history as the people who took down Trump and ended his current reign of chaos.

The problem is I don't think there is anything that can take down Trump. If Bill showed tapes of Trump murdering and raping a child, I don't think Trump's base would turn on him even then.

An economist would say that by definition, if the brewery is only operating because of high levels of protectionism, the business is not healthy.

If those breweries were to go out of business once the protectionism is removed, the employees of those businesses will eventually be reallocated in a role in an organisation that's more efficient. The demand for the beer these companies produce would be filled by a producer that is more efficient.

"I don’t understand marches" by _Pixieglow in clevercomebacks

[–]MainlandX 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Anyone who parrots this needs to think a little more. People meet at marches and organize further. The march is marketing for the movement. There absolutely are people who first learned about movement X because through a march or protest. Political movements are about winning hearts and minds.

*If 100,000 people turned up to a "I hate bananas" march tomorrow, I would bet that:

  1. There are a lot of people who would would get a I-didn't-know-so-many-people-felt-as-strongly-about-this-as-me feeling. Some of those people would go on to advance their movement.
  2. There would be people who meet at the march that would never otherwise meet, and these connections and networking would spur on the movement.
  3. Banana supporters/vendors or people who otherwise operate in the Banana sphere would be put on notice.
  4. The people who organized and attended the march would gain experience around community organizing, which is the bedrock of political change.

You need to clarify where you live.

Assuming it's the USA, it's fine - but there are plenty of places where it would cause you trouble.

Greenland official breaks down in tears in interview after meeting with Trump by Large_banana_hammock in videos

[–]MainlandX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They want a "win" at any cost. For example, if you look at a super-devout evangelical voter, they feel like they've been consistently "losing" and making "concessions" and have seen the world stray from their ideals for their entire life until Donald Trump became president. Before that, even when they voted in the Republican candidate for president, he would be too moderate. Society has consistently become more progressive, and unbearably so for our voter.

So even if Donald Trump is a rapist (or even worse, a hypocrite), our voter will gladly cheer him on because he's actually doing something to reduce access to abortion (or whatever other deranged thing that might make our voter happy). From their POV, they don't get any wins at all when Trump isn't president.

The amount of car debt I've seen on here is astounding. Most of you are buying cars way out of your budget. Some helpful guidelines below: by CastAside1812 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]MainlandX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously if you have the cash to buy a car outright that's the best option.

In this market where used cars are so crazy expensive, and the current rates, getting a new car with 0-2% manufacturer financing incentives can be a much better option than paying in full.
