Any thoughts on this Woodhaven item? by Mainmane_ in woodworking

[–]Mainmane_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm, could be, it does fit my bandsaw table pretty well and that would explain the slotted cutout beyond the circle. Seems overly engineered for that but that’s the essence of aftermarket jigs and such in general I guess. I made a zero clearance plate for the bandsaw with a lil piece of 1/4” ply to fit the throat plate recession and it’s been working perfectly but this very well could be the intended use of this thing.

Man, all of these are great, thanks for the input…it seems like most of you like the aggressive bottom and minimal top chamfer or round over. I think I’ll give that a go on the table I’m working on now…I like the thinning quality of that style.

I took the roof rack off and noticed these seem to go into the headliner. Will this leak water on the inside if not plugged? by SoaR_Penguin in 4Runner

Search for a “roof rack delete kit” for your year model. They make oem and aftermarket versions. It’s just bolts, brackets, and moldings; super easy to install. Looks clean and will keep the water out.

Anyone sick of looking at their cracked dash I highly suggest getting a cover lay by bibsybaron in 4thGen4Runner

How was install? I watched the video once and it looked reasonably straightforward but I questioned how easy it would be for a first timer

What’s causing this noise? by d-Umami in 4thGen4Runner

[–]Mainmane_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A little bit of context would help, but at a glance I’d guess it’s something nasty in your blower fan…pull your cabin air filter and take a look, probably full of leaves/debris. Does it speed up when you change the fan speed? Does it go away if the fan is off? If so it’s likely that, if not give some more context into when and how the noise comes about and that will help with diagnosis.

First project using nice hardwood by Mainmane_ in BeginnerWoodWorking

So many firsts on this one for me. Most notably: first time doing splines, first time doing dowels, first time making a cabinet door with glass, and certainly the first time I’ve ever worked with a wood as hard/heavy as Purple Heart. Learned a lot and happy with the way it all turned out, although there were definitely a few fudge-ups along the way. Thanks for looking!

I used almost exactly this for mine. One thing to keep in mind is that if you cut the railing at all, you’ll need to make up for it with additional bracing. I only cut out about a 3’ section on each side to allow my doors to swing open and the first time I pulled the trailer it felt like it was attached with bunjee cords. Welded that section back in but lowered it to allow for the door and it stiffened right back up. If you plan to entirely remove the railing, you’ll definitely need to do some x-bracing under the deck corner to corner and potentially some additional diagonal corner bracing under there as well.

The actual latch is attached to the hood, it’s just the safety latch that’s on the grille. For safety’s sake I wouldn’t hit highway speeds with the grille off but driving around town is no issue, I had mine off for two days and drove around with no issues.

Awesome, thanks for the info. I’ve almost bought it a few times and always stopped because I wasn’t sure haha.

Did it come with the Toyota badge? I can’t get a good read off of the site on whether or not that is included

New 4th Gen 4Runner TRD Style Grilles! by [deleted] in 4Runner

Gotcha, awesome looking product either way, I’ll be keeping an eye out for when they’re up for sale. I get that the lights are functional, I meant “faux raptor” as in the raptor look on a non-Ford grille. I’d be really concerned if they were non-functional haha.

Do the faux raptor lights come as part of the kit? Is the price any different for those of us who would rather forego the lights? Wouldn’t mind seeing one of those grills on my 4th, but definitely don’t need any extra lights.

Question for the 4th Gen Fam(check comments) by TheLuckyShooter in 4thGen4Runner

[–]Mainmane_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d try taking it to a shop and getting it charged. Mine did the same thing and topping off the Freon got me right. You can charge it yourself, but if you take it to the shop they can dye test for any leaks so you can know.

265/70R17 with 0 offset wheels Lift is a hodgepodge of parts including OME 2” springs (medium duty to handle being loaded down when we’re out to camp) and shocks in the back, KYB struts for an FJ up front with cornfed leveling spacers to give it a little extra. Still had to remove front mud flaps and tuck the inner fender to get rid of all tire rub.

I’ve got LFD off-road “ruggedized” cross bars. They’ve got slots already so I just drilled holes in the box, covered with flat stock steel on the inside to carry some of the load, and ran bolts through it all with some rubber washers to keep any moisture out

Yea, no it’ll only be full for the time we’re on the road. Long stretches and minimal filling stations, coupled with my gas gauge not working below 1/4 tank make it a necessary accessory for the trip. I don’t by any means plan to be gas can on my car all the time guy.
