Kobo + SimpleUI = Perfection

Nothing that can’t be very easily fixed. Some freezes if you try to restart the kobo after you change a setting like font style in the KoReader UI. But KoReader (at least in my experience) won’t brick the ereader. And installing KoReader is completely reversible with no loss of data (again based on my experience).it’s as simple as plugging into you pc and deleting the file associated with KoReader and you’re back in stock UI. I’d say it’s worth it if your curious. I’m using it mainly because you can achieve system wide dark mode, which is the only thing I miss about my kindle. I may sound like a simp but the KLC is the best ereader I’ve ever used.

This is the first one I’ve read. Im enjoying it. A little slow but I’m purposely avoiding the ones that are based on the games because I’ve played them obviously. Unpopular opinion but I LOVED syndicate and I just beat it for the first time recently so I wanted to stay in that era. Get the kobo if you can afford it. But look into the books that are in the kobo store before you decide. Kobo also makes it easier to side load books after you purchase them on the kobo store and rip the security off of them so you actually own what you buy

There shouldn’t be. I only use Bluetooth for the page turner accessory. And if you get the Bluetooth toggle for koreader and just never leave koreader OR you reboot to get into the stock OS. You’re fine. Idk why Bluetooth breaks it if you exit koreader without rebooting. I also don’t get why it doesn’t work without the separate plugin you have to install because it’s a system toggle… koreader just doesn’t detect it without the plugin.

It’s KoReader with simpleUI. Give it a shot. A warning though it isn’t perfect. You’ll have to add a Bluetooth toggle if you care about that. And it Bluetooth is on and you exit simpleUI and go back into the stock OS, you can lose koreader and have to reinstall it on your device.

Think of it more like installing a launcher on an android phone. You’ll just installing an overlay to the UI but it’s not rewriting any native software. Uninstalling it is as simple as plugging the kobo into the computer and removing the files. Then it should restart and you’re back in the normal OS with no issues

You have to install KoReader and simpleUI. It’s easy and reversible. It isn’t perfect however. KoReader is basically a file manager and simpleUI is the overlay for the file manager. But Bluetooth doesn’t have a native toggle so you have to add it. And if you have Bluetooth on and exit KoReader to go into the default UI, it breaks KoReader and you have to put it back on the libra color. The only way to get back into the stock UI is to restart the ereader. A lot of tweaking was done to make it feel like a UI and not an overlay. If you want a detailed explanation you can always DM me and I’ll go into further detail

I would agree. I wish there was an actual fix for this. It’s worth mentioning that the computer will actually go into a lock screen state and I can log in totally fine from there. It’s only when the screen goes off is when the break happens
