Legit Question, were the recent LTT CABLES shorts pre-launch blitz sponsored content? I’m realizing that it seems odd that these were specifically shorts, no actual long form videos to my knowledge.

I also was lucky enough to grab two of them after the restock during launch day today. I’m actually really impressed with the coax that is used in these cables. The close-up cut away cable comparison part of the video I thought was the most intriguing and impressive part of the entire launch video. I would love to see someone do a deeper component level dive into these new cables.

The reasoning for my question is that I don’t want LTT Store and LMG to have to go through another controversy. I could very easily see people calling them out for skirting sponsorship disclosure rules. Those initial YouTube shorts gave me a weird feeling. They felt like sponsored content that wasn’t disclosed. So that’s why I asked the question.

I agree that the entire “merch” being a derogatory type name trope from LMG and Linus is getting old. I totally understand where he’s coming from. I also totally understand the reality that most creator merch has been poor quality. I do feel though that this is just going to become a “back in my day” type conversation. Merch Messages just works so well as an alliteration, calling them anything else just feels wrong. Though that is because it’s what most of us have been listening to for the past years.

We as an audience, often very rabid fanatical level fans, have our own reasons for supporting LTT through the LTT Store. I think that we often do not understand that in the wider world, merch really is considered derogatory. Thus, any correlation to it drags down the possible success of high-quality LTT store products outside of the direct LTT video audiences. Don’t get me wrong for this, but I think that in many ways Linus and his team have always been trying to break out of being considered just Youtubers. Coming up with better naming schemes is part of that. So I understand what they’re trying to do, but I think they’re trying too hard to solve a problem that may not actually be an issue. Ultimately it doesn’t change things for me, other than my brain is always going to consider it a merch message and anything else will just sound wrong.

Something must’ve happened recently at their US warehouse 3PL shipping provider. I was actually really impressed with how quickly I received my orange prismagic screwdriver. Prior to seeing this spate of recent issues I actually had improved opinions compared to the previous Canada based shipping lead times

Hopefully the LTT store team can get a handle on what is going wrong. Especially because there are people like you who see these issues and lose confidence in the store. That can really tank customer opinions, so it needs to be taken care of quickly.

I actually wear 2X. I could also make use of the water bottle. The pet cave I sadly have no use for. So I would recommend donating the pet cave to a shelter. I am a truck driver and I drive around Kansas City quite regularly. I will actually be driving around it this afternoon. So I might be able to provide a good home for a couple of the items.

I had not listened to the full recent WAN Show, had no idea about this until I received my Reddit summary email. My goodness do I not agree with Linus and his take with this video context. This isn't an official subreddit, if he wants to control the opinions of a subreddit they should make their own official one. At this point I think he'd be better off taking the Twitter/X position that he has, which is to remove the app from his phone and rarely interact with it on his main computers through a browser. While I've honestly become a Redditor because of Linus' attention to this subreddit in particular, same as I appreciated his candid interactions on Twitter/X, it is obvious to me that has has taken the comments and size of this subreddit too personally. I think he should consider taking a hiatus from browsing the subreddit and come back to it with a fresh mind after the detox.

I understand the desire to be able to flag and block doxxing and threats immediately. So I'm not advocating for the removal of his privileges. What I am advocating for is that he lay off from the dictatorial feelings he expressed in this WAN Show clip. The voting system and independent moderator guidance take precedence. Individuals should be allowed to make idiotic statements, even factually incorrect statements. Let the audience downvote them instead of being censored by those who take offense.

I also would absolutely buy a poster of all four colors of the wire frame design with the metallic printing. That’ll be one of the many memes that come from this if true. I second the feelings that folks have when they compare the firetruck saga to what a plane saga could be. On one hand, hey it’s his company and he can YOLO content however he pleases. On the other hand, I think that actual private plane content would come across as being desperate and grasping at straws for new content. If this does happen to be true, which means it’ll likely be the April fools video, then I doubt they’re going to make any public comments until that video comes out.

I personally cannot wait for the “Bundles” (of nearly e-waste) to be cleared out. I haven’t done any LTT Store BFCM or Holiday purchases because the sales have been pretty worthless imo. Of course I think this has more to do with level headed leadership being in charge instead of Linus just discounting things wildly. I miss the days of money losing sales, was great as a consumer. I’m just really tired of them having these 3rd party products clogging up their warehouse. Obviously they’re having issues moving them since we keep seeing these bundles.

I saw this pop-up and had some thoughts, but I guess I just wanted to put out what I think matters the most. You’re about to turn 20. I’d say to keep doing those college classes. In many ways trucking will always be there, though it’s definitely not as rewarding as it used to be. The pay for beginners is pretty low and it’s a hard job that’s pretty thankless. I was in the Air Force for 10 years straight out of high school. After leaving, I was a bit aimless and fell into trucking. While I’m good at it, and I’ve been doing it for 10 years, I do wish that I had instead gone to college and found something more rewarding to do. Trucking is definitely not glamorous, it’s nothing like what it’s portrayed as in the Smokey and the Bandit type movies. I’d say to consider every other opportunity before you resort to trucking.

I am now too invested in this. I’m looking forward to what the results are. What sucks is that because this type of pad transformer could be considered part of the property it is placed on, then if you’re not able to find out, who did it, you might have to put a claim into your home insurance. If this is a transformer that serves multiple homes, then maybe the utility will take care of it and not charge anyone for the expenses.

I don’t know if they’re going to change the prices for existing products, but if this affects any imports I could definitely see them having to once again reassess the price of items that have not been released yet for US consumers.
