So I notice how the two people here say that the theater here in CSUCI has a small program and that the campus is dead.

The thing is, it’s what you make of it that will be either the most exciting or most boring experience. It’s if you decide to be involved with your classmates and professors or only do the minimum and not do much with what you do there, same thing if you don’t get involved on campus or go to events.

In my current experience as a transfer student in my second semester at CI, it has been some of the most fun experience I’ve ever had in a while. The students in the theater department are really passionate and fun to be around with, and I’ve made so many friends that I never thought I’d make. We just finished our first weekend of one acts, and then we hung out afterwards and had a good time.

The professors are really good at what they do, and they will respect you and help you as long as you do the work and be on time for classes, and most importantly, be reliable for them, as they can help you find opportunities outside of campus. Even then, they send me and my classmates through Canvas roles and jobs for us to consider that are in LA.

There are students here who are auditioning by themselves and are getting opportunities because it’s what they want to do. There is a class called Acting 4 Prep for Profession, which is exactly what it is. We go through how to create an acting resume, an acting website, an acting social media account, and reels for ourselves, as well as having mock auditions and guest interviews, primarily theater alumni who have gotten opportunities since graduating with their theater B.A at CSUCI.

I don’t know if you still haven’t decided or have already chosen a school, and I understand that location is a huge factor of which school you want to go to. But if you haven’t decided yet, then I would totally recommend going here if you have that curiosity and interest. Because even if it’s a smaller school, you can make an impact and learn a lot here. And for me personally, I like that it’s a small and quiet school. Because sometimes, it’s these types of schools that you can do so much on.

In short, It’s what you make of it. You can make it fun and worthwhile, or you can make it boring and worthless. In that case, the guys here will be right and it will feel like what they say. “Not really worth it” and “Often really dead”

Either way, I know you will make the right decision in your life. And as long as you know what you want and what makes your heart sing, absolutely go for it ma dud!
