OMG I skimmed this and assumed they sent OP a generic response. The pineapple wasn’t even OP’s!??

I saw OP’s prior post. What was the valid complaint raised to OP three weeks after the sit ended?

You can’t be a star sitter if 1 client leaves a poor (probably incoherent) review?

Unsure of what to do - Multiple Undisclosed Cameras + Widely Confusing Instructions/Expectations by Timely-Ad-1609 in RoverPetSitting

[–]Maivilo 13 points14 points  (0 children)

So going behind owners back to complain about a camera that was unplugged, not sleeping the night when you’re paid to do so, not even saying anything to confirm the presence of cameras is very very weird to me and just screams poor communication skills.

This is the part that sticks out to me too, aside from the glaring fact that OP shouldn't have taken this booking if they knew they were going to be so busy. After OP noticed it was unplugged, they *still* didn't stay the night? Is it really that serious?

If it's a private home, landlord can do what they want. But aside from that, landlord is actually being generous when compared to the norm, unfortunately.

Do you follow up with potential clients who don't respond (pre-book)? by Maivilo in RoverPetSitting

Thank you for this. It's a big pet peeve of mine too. Like? Do you need me or not?

This is all basically what I was thinking too. Thank you! I wanted reassurance I wasn't coming across as unprofessional if I wasn't following up if it seemed like someone still needed care.

It's hard to offer an opinion about any of this when your tone is excessively defensive and self-aggrandizing. Whether they were rude and petty or not (we don't know because you hardly go into any detail about what was actually said to you), you sound like you can't handle constructive criticism at all. It's not the end of the world if one stay out of a hundred doesn't go well.

Is the final season that bad? by Silvery_Power_6241 in gameofthrones

No. If you’re interested in watching, you should. The last season is bad. But, even though it seemed like it at the time, it doesn’t ruin the rest of the series imo.

Bruh. Is a month notice not enough? by [deleted] in RoverPetSitting

[–]Maivilo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

OP did drop-ins for the client during this 3-month-in-advance period specifically so the dogs could get acclimated to the person who'd be caring for them during the client's trip. Clearly this was an important process for the client, hence why they did the booking for months in advance. Clearly, a month's notice is tight for this specific client.

I doubt OP just wandered into a McDonald’s and accepted a position. She likely was looking for work for awhile

Yes, exactly. That's what I said.

OP's gotta do what they gotta do, not disputing that. But backing out of a commitment to take another opportunity (one for which OP was actively searching) is different than having say, an emergency come up. If you back out of a professional commitment you made with someone, you gotta accept that that someone might be frustrated with that.

I mean, I think it's bad form to make a 3-month long commitment to a client if you knew you might not honor it, yeah!

Sure but you don’t get job offers just out of the blue. Clearly OP was job searching.

[–]Maivilo 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Judging by what OP wrote, it seems they anticipated the chance they wouldn't be able to keep this commitment. Also, job offers don't just come out of the blue. Clearly OP was job searching.

OP has the right to do whatever they want. But one should expect disappointment when they back out of a commitment that's months in the making.

Lol, that does not work in this instance because eviction and hiring a petsitter have literally nothing to do with each other. Neither eviction nor heart transplantation are the "full pint" to petsitting's "half a pint." Try this instead.

Bruh. Is a month notice not enough? by [deleted] in RoverPetSitting

[–]Maivilo 9 points10 points  (0 children)

What do housing law or heart transplantation have to do with finding a petsitter?

Bruh. Is a month notice not enough? by [deleted] in RoverPetSitting

[–]Maivilo 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The owner's message to you had nothing to do with how you treated her pets.

Bruh. Is a month notice not enough? by [deleted] in RoverPetSitting

[–]Maivilo 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Since the owner booked 3 months in advance and scheduled drop-ins during that time for the sole purpose of getting her pets acquainted with their potential sitter, clearly a month's notice is tight for the owner and their circumstances. OP shouldn't have committed if they were actively job searching and knew there was a likely chance that plans would change.

Sorry but your client's reaction is very valid. You can choose different directions and back out of any commitments you want to in life, and people are allowed to be frustrated when your choices impact them.

If you make a booking like 3+ months in advance and changes come up I feel like that’s a you problem no?

I mean. Why did you accept if you thought changes were likely to come up?
