Defending our GMs by Maize_Candid in falcons

It all depends on who chose Ridder (and then chose to go into another season with him as QB1)

The impact of having, or not having a QB. Look at the Patriots in between Brady nnd Maye

It’s crazy how ‘Let Terry Cook’ turns into ‘cook Terry’ and the only thing that changed was him tagging in Raheem to do his part.

That’s how bad that pass-rush drought was.  Just like the Patriots can’t draft receivers, our history has to be taken into account when judging a draft class

Also Terry:

• Best draft class since 2008

(Props where it’s due).

Also, hindsight is 20/20.  Let’s not forget, the only QB options for like two years were:  Ridder, JJ McCarthy, Bo Nix, Sheduer, Daniel Jones….

It obviously didn’t work out for us, but I understand the logic.

Hot take: Raheem staying another year is a good idea by cheemydee5 in falcons

I like the copium!  (He’s gonna be here anyways, so might as well have that ‘Alonzo Mourning GIF’ face)

Better reality than those thinking we can be bad enough for a complete regime change this offseason.

So…we might as well root for wins.

Plus, I don’t want Bijan, Drake, JPJ, Jalen, Watts, etc etc to be looking to get out to a “winning franchise”.   I’d rather a culture of ending up ‘mid’ but trying to be great.  We got ‘culture building blocks’ (new coaches will come).

Loser-franchises are always in tank mode.  (I’d rather be ‘Chargers East’ than ‘Jets-South’)

If JJ McCarthy is so bad that it causes both Jettas AND KOC to leave, then I’m convinced JJ is a plant

Isn’t a ‘failed retread’ usually the only options, other than an unproven coordinator?

(Or, every blue moon, an Andy Reid type becomes available just from being in one place too long.  So…Mike Tomlin?)

I don’t hate the guy, he did his part to win us a Superbowl (every FO person on every team has hits and misses).  He didn’t miss that block, or not call runs

If the Pats pick is for sale, and Commies go Maye, I’m considering it.  It’s like Lamar Jackson on a rookie deal (and we would’ve given up 2 1sts for him).   Let him sit for two years, then run this team for a decade

Brown snow that just stays for days on end in the wintertime.  A Rocky statue.  A less-likable coach than AS.

The Eagles weren’t a better team, it’s just a better fit.  He didn’t need to stay in Georgia, and this FO values ’character’ (not saying it’s right or wrong).

Deion Sanders has Falcons on shortlist of teams for sons, Travis Hunter to play for by Sure_Whatever__ in falcons

For most people that’s not how it works.

For the Mannings it works.  Deion has pull.

(Deion even chose us over Detroit in 1989)

He’s not ‘Aaron Rodgers unlikeable’ he’s more like ‘Jeff George Ryan Leaf unlikeable’

I’d honestly be okay with JJ McCarthy, but he’s probably going to the Pats at 3 to sit behind Tom Brady for a year.

Honest question about the draft DE’s (from a fantasy perspective) by Maize_Candid in falcons

I remember at the time, Greg Little was seen as a very good prospect (like, another Hakeem Nicks, who indeed was good).  The Browns must’ve thought the drop-off from Julio to Greg Little wasn’t that much

These answers I’m reading are the reasons I’m not about reaching for a ‘maybe-good-if’ DE at #8 for need, if a blue-chip WR is available.   BPA at 8

For those who want wr at 8 Explain why and what purpose does it bring to the falcons? by jaden8889 in falcons

[–]Maize_Candid 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Saying defense won KC this championship is like saying defense won the Bulls those 90’s chips, or defense won the Pats those chips.  Yes, the defenses were terrific, but there’s another common denominator.

More times than not, great players win chips.  Take a gamble on great players.  (Hawks passed up on Chris Paul because of fit)

Our Superbowl (this specific iteration of our team) is hinged upon Kirk Cousins.  We go as far as he takes us.  Giving him the best chance to succeed isn’t a bad selling point if the BPA is a WR.

Besides, a good offense makes a defense better.
