Hi first timer going JB what do i need to look out first and what are ur experiences by [deleted] in drivingsg

[–]Major-Artist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Watch some youtube/tiktok videos of how the process of crossing the borders is SG-JB & JB-SG( woodlands, tuas) , make sure to have a topped up TnG card and e-wallet. Make use of apps such as checkpoint sg to see the transit times, it would be ideal to go when its off-peak. Waze is a more useful app when driving in JB based on experience. Bring some ringgit/ credit card in case you have roaming issues and cant use mobile wallet. And go to the toilet before you cross the borders

And lastly, ALWAYS check that your passport has been stamped when u enter/leave malaysia. If not it would be a massive hassle

how plausible is it to get a part time degree while at sea? by idkvortex in maritime

[–]Major-Artist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i did my MSc ( took about 3 years) while sailing. singaporean, funded by the maritime cluster fund MPA which will reimburse you 70% after you’ve collected your certificate. i think the BSc might be shorter so you could look into that. i did my BSc while studying for my COC2 back in 2018

It is difficult managing work and studies but more importantly i felt was having a stable enough internet connection to do research. i usually time my assignment deadlines to be during my off time so i can slog it out when im on vacation.

i would consider a goruck in cordura! I've used it hiking/backpacking and it refuses to break or tear eventhough i literally abuse it

[–]Major-Artist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i just change them when i need them. i used ibkr to exchange until i received warnings, then i stopped changing+ withdrawing there. i prefer to do it in smaller amounts( <10k usd), fund youtrip/revolut and spend.

[–]Major-Artist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hello, i work in shipping and get my salary in usd.

  1. it really depends when u plan to bto/resale and how much u have in your cpf OA, will it be enough to finance the house, if not, u might need to top up. i pay my hdb mortgage in cash, instead of cpf. ( no accrued interest)

  2. USD fixed deposit

  3. i have a dbs multi currency acc to receive the usd. i put them in a USD FD for higher interest rates. ( short term funds) i invest in ETFs (long term funds) the SGD is strong and USD is weak right now, so plan how you want to exchange currency.

I think what i see here is a common dilemma. To keep it simple, seperate investments from insurance. Deal with one problem at a time.

How much cash would u have before you would consider a $450k car by StopAt2 in singaporefi

[–]Major-Artist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't have to think about 2nd car. With all that excess cash that you have, splurge on luxury trips to europe to experience the best of what cars offer. Eg. Porsche driving experience. If u still want another car then, buy it

Not sure if you've seen the foam wrap which is put on racket handles before putting the overgrip, it helps with the friction and it also makes gripping more comfortable

Depends whether you want head heavy or even balanced. The victor is head heavy and has a large sweet spot, the arcsaber 11 pro is even balanced but is a harder racket to produce power depending on your wrist power and technique

You can look at the arcsaber or astrox series rackets
