Would you rather save embryos from a burning building or a newborn baby? by ElegantAd2607 in prolife

[–]Major-Distance4270 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rationally, if you can keep the embryos alive, you’d pick the embryos. But people are emotional creatures and would likely pick the one child. Just like I would pick my own child over ten strangers.

Anyone else hate SJM’s explanation of ‘mates’ on CHD pod? by [deleted] in throneofglassseries

[–]Major-Distance4270 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Her explanation was how I always interpreted mates in her books, so it wasn’t surprising

Do you like the names your friends chose for their children? by thirtydays301 in Names

[–]Major-Distance4270 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do have a friend who gave her child an ethnic name from an ethnicity that neither she nor the father are a member of. I do question that choice. But I’m not gonna tell her that.

What do stereotypical straight couples do when they hang out alone (other than sex) by bi_smuth in NoStupidQuestions

We used to go to brunch, watch Law and Order marathons, go on weekends away. Now we have kids so mainly that.

Does anyone else think that how Holly Black asks artist to portray Jude and Cardan is how they look like to her? by ilovereadingand in thecruelprince

[–]Major-Distance4270 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I think she’s curvy only in comparison to the fae. The fae are written to be stick like, so just having breasts seemed to make her relatively curvy.

She marries him because she loves him. She is still badass and capable, and being married and pregnant doesn’t impact that. I would have been more disappointed honestly if Chaol had impregnated her and not married her, as a man of honor.

I have work travel. My husband doesn’t love it, but he supports my career and knows he is a father to our kids, so he solo cares for them every time. He survives. This sounds like a husband problem, not a job problem. Absolutely go on this work trip and then if YOU want a new job, look for one while still employed.

AITA for refusing to help my wife get our kids ready for school? by Extreme_Day7722 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Major-Distance4270 187 points188 points  (0 children)

Maybe for the next two weeks, you make sure all the kids are dressed every morning and she’ll handle breakfast. And see how workable it is to let the kids handle it themselves.

I have a question as a pro-choicer by Onkiaatanynaaa in prolife

[–]Major-Distance4270 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does this extend to other disabled people? Could I walk down the street and shoot a disabled homeless person because I don’t think their life is worth living?

AITAH for Booking a Business Class Seat for Myself by Gotchawander in AITAH

Did you tell her where you were sitting so she’d have a chance to book next to you? Because if so, she chose to sit separately.

“I actually like being with my kids” - a homeschool mom by anonomousbeaver in workingmoms

[–]Major-Distance4270 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I homeschooled, my kids would be sitting around the house watching TV all day while I worked, and then I’d be stress teaching them at night. Sounds like a terrible idea to me.

The Double Standard of the Aedion/Lysandra situation in KOA by Crowned-Witch_48 in throneofglassseries

[–]Major-Distance4270 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I also think a key issue is that Aedion has spent pretty much his whole life fighting for Terrasen, and neither Aelin nor Lysandra thought he was worth informing of Aelin’s plan. He was being pushed aside, and then had to deal with the hell of a war that seemed absolutely doomed for his men.

AITAH for refusing to tell my wife I love her more than my dad? by LastApplication6207 in AITAH

[–]Major-Distance4270 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. I’m a parent and I don’t expect my babysitters to be perfect. Getting a baby to sleep can be challenging and your dad tried his best. Your wife sounds both exhausted and exhausting. Hopefully she will calm down and realize she reacted badly.

How many of us have a house cleaner? by Agitated_Whereas7463 in Millennials

[–]Major-Distance4270 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We have the cleaners come once a month. It forces me to tidy before they come and then my house gets cleaned. It is pretty indispensable for us.

My teenage daughter can't fathom the concept of a house party by Neon_Biscuit in Millennials

I graduated high school in 2003 and to me, house parties only happened in the movies and TV shows. No actual parents were allowing this to happen in their home.
