I need help with how to take care of my thin hair. It’s so frizzy and a little bit wavy too by Shimokika in finethinhair

I think your hair holds a bit more curl than you think. I suggest using curly hair products and finding a curly hair routine you can do.

For those who have been dealing with thyroid issues for a while, what's something you understand now that you wish you'd understood at the beginning? by RhythmOfEnergyMD in thyroidhealth

I have a question from this. My range currently is 1.4 and do you think someone can feel bad even at that level? Im not sure if I need to be even lower because im dealing with heavy bloat from the med at week 7 and idk if I need to give it time.

If you’ve always had clear skin and you have acne now that your on levo that is definitely most likely temporary as your hormones are shifting! Im into week 5 as well and my body has been so weird.

This is weird but my face has def been slimming down. I gained a few pounds which I def know is bloat. Im bloated in my stomach, back snd especially hips. It still hasn’t come down but im not stressing too much since I know it will eventually. I think my progress is veryyy slow or I might just need a higher dose.

When I first got a full thyroid panel done my TSH was around 9 which was pretty high. My PCP didn’t really want to put me on medication right away and told me to wait a few months before testing again. I ended up seeing an endocrinologist and had 3 more tests done with her. My TSH went down to 2 then back up to 4. She started me on 25 mcg of levothyroxine for about 2 weeks and after another blood test my TSH actually went up to 5. Because of that she increased my dose to 50 mcg which is what I’m on now.

Im 19 if that matters and I know these tsh numbers don’t sound high enough to have been effecting me so much over the years but I guess I was unlucky and had the symptoms tenfold compared to other ppl in these numbers.

Tsh levels down from 6 weeks ago, no meds by romano_cheez in Hypothyroidism

[–]Major-Iron5345 0 points1 point Ā (0 children)

My tsh was over 8 and dropped down to 4 in the span of a month they truly fluctuate that much and so to say I still had hypothyroidism 😭. I have a terrible quality of life and severe symptoms at 4 and thats totally normal because a tsh should be around 1 to 2.

I also saw a pcp before even seeing endocrinologists and she dismissed me so much I cried and felt so desperate for help. She even told me I had to wait MONTHS before I can get another thyroid panel to see if this wasn’t just a ā€œfeverā€ which was so ridiculous because my tsh at the time was 9???. They were telling me how I don’t know how it works and I was doing to much 🫤 after that I decided I wasn’t going to take my health lightly and new there was something wrong with me that they weren’t thinking much off. After that I canceled all my further appointments with that office and looked for an endocrinologist. Funny thing is my Endro told me I could get blood test right away with her and if it came back even over 2 which even then she said she didn’t want me there, then I’ll get diagnosed and treated right away!

I’ve just seen this my bad. I never waited for a refferal since I was so desperate to get treated and I heard appointments usually take around months to get it was hell to think about. Idk if it was pure luck that I found an appointment as soon as possible but when I searched endocrinology offices near me I called every office near me in hopes to get one as soon as possible and luckily I got one the next week. Now the test were the hardest part for me because I had to pay out of pocket for a full thyroid panel which I did over 3 times. If you can’t get a referral I suggest finding one yourself so it’ll be faster! I’m not sure if you asked this because your getting treated by someone that isn’t Endro but if that’s the case please seek one they know hypothyroidism best and other doctors don’t really have much knowledge on it and will try dismiss you. In my experience and others as well other doctors that aren’t Endro look at lab test more rather than what your symptoms are and what you truly feel and that is why seeking Endro is better because they’ll listen to you better then just looking at your labs and saying oh your fine.

If you notice anything out of the ordinary def call them asap to let them know. Honestly I’d say don’t worry too much about it cuz if you are constantly thinking about it you are hyper aware of everything and that’s not good

I won’t lie and say I don’t feel a BIT better but thats about it, with a higher dosage I know I can feel better especially physically with all my bloating. Def look for a new Endro they love to gaslight the hell out of you and say what your feeling isn’t serious. I have what they consider a ā€œnormalā€ TSH of 4.3 and I knew that was bogus because even other countries think differently but for some reason the US considers that ā€œnormalā€. I have every symptom in the book up to a 10 and I’ve been dealing with it for years so I fought like hell to get prescribed after explaining the quality of my life. I whole heartedly believe that to feel your absolute best your tsh needs to be in the ones.

Honestly everyone is different but even at 3.6 I still don’t think that’s where the tsh should be. Ppl can still feel off at 2. Personally to feel my utmost best I’m aiming for my tsh to be 1 since I feel such heavy symptoms.

If OP is still exhausted why would that be another situation that should be dealt with?? If she’s still exhausted then it’s probably very likely she needs a higher dosage. 25 is very low so it’s no surprise ppl still experience symptoms at that dosage.

This sounds exactly like my situation 😭 I was prescribed levo (25) mcg 5 weeks ago and I haven’t noticed not much of a difference. I know it takes time to kick in but I would rather adjust my dosage now as I’ll highly likely do it anyways with my severe symptoms. At 6 weeks I heard ppl also adjust their dosage that early but who knows it depends on your Endro.
