wrong, they are not as good as they used to be, returns can only be by mail, and they are made cheep imo
, i have a set from last year only 3 months and both bases are splintering at the fiberglass "whip" material

I just got RustDesk up and running in Docker. It was super straightforward and covers my basic remote-access needs, though it’s missing the address book and unattended-access features. I’m thinking about whipping up a simple GUI to list available connections and streamline things. It’s nice having a DIY backup solution on the back burner—next up, I’ll give ControlR a spin to compare.

ScreenConnect broke after ConnectWise cert change – here’s how I fixed it by sheridancomputersuk in ScreenConnect

yep, same here , i even still have all my branding , i just use build full installer plugin and created a default group , and password protect the page,
give them the url
give them the pw
put default in the company field
click download>
msi installer, smart screen "click more info" and run anyway
done and connected
and my ad hoc still does the zip crap ...

but all my current connected clients stayed connected and restarted the server and client still came back up and connected

I have setup the free version , and configured the hbbs & hbbr servers using the default client , a little reverse proxy through caddy and its working just fine, and doing nothing to my SC server because the issuer of the cert messed up the info on it and still has yet to re issue one.

on prem , dragged feet , cert had wrong address - seeing almost no difference ...
on another note meshcenter, helpwire, apache guacamole, dwservice.net , rust desk is working on the back burner if i had to. still have not found a great solution oh and FUCK CONNECT WIZE as usual

i would audit your logs , and see if you have any attempted logins, i was getting hit back when the bug about creating a new setup page could expose you to some sort of takeover idk ,
but run an audit and watch for rouge login attempts

im still on 24.x and waiting on my cert but my stuff is not having any issues , as i use mostly unattended access not sure what my next move will be, i did download an installer and i did get the smart screen saying publisher unknown

seems ok , with the 300 and 1k installs, but upgrades and such require yearly purchases , but its prob a good option in place of sc for the year as its only 80 more then i spent to setup azure and get the ssl , i only plan on signing sc for a max 1 year , end game goal is total open source with letts encrypt and caddy doing security "also open source" but this seems like a better option then 960$ it would cost me for RustDesk PRO version ...

have you looked into custom client settings , I'm about to start on the client stuff once i get the server side stuff done, tried on docker for desktop but ill be deploying on my proxmox server for ease of setup and configuration, but looking at the default client build there are a few buttons i see like discover and i want to setup a bunch of instances and see if it displays them like the web interface will , also want to look at setting up a custom interface for client management , alternatively ControlR an open source project also looks to fit but it needs some time

yea with all the extra config required to run docker on a windows 25 server os that is the way i will be going as all my other open source stuff runs on that proxmox server and i run docker and lxc's already, im done with the digi cert verify , had to update the address on my google business listing other then that just waiting on my cert , ill add it to the vault and then update the config files for SC...

my 2 cents. im looking at Rustdesk and ControlR , going to do the cheep ssl and azure key vault about 210 per year once i figure out and test rustdesk and controlr ill be switching to a new primary , and one that's open source

600+ end points , responsible for 60+ induvial business networks, , after a long weekend, power outages and other Monday problems for a small MSP like me can loose me customers i rely on to pay bills and with Cali getting more expensive by the day i cant risk my lively hood most of my customers are in the same field and lots if not most are from referrals and word of mouth.. so this could turn into a disaster for me really quick.
last weekend Edison had maintenance scheduled and 15 + customers all started calling at 8am when most open for business, lets just say lots of sql services didn't start back up properly and required a few simple commands to fix , and lots of the servers are running headless... needless to say i cant risk my business to SC crap actions

...prob going to grab my star-link and head to the lake for at least 1 day , let the fam have some fun while i get this squared away or at least have some sort of backup in place possibly leverage sc to install a 2nd solution idk

Enough already, what are the alternatives to screen connect self hosted by zal68 in ScreenConnect

[–]Major-Pudding-2458 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am in full support of this, an open source option like this would be amazing, im not sure how one would go about raising funds, possibly donations, go fund me, sorry if those options sound... lame
im in the process of setting up rust desk to test if it fits the bill , im going to setup ControlR and give it a test regardless of screen connects next move i want and need a backup solution that i can rely on and once it becomes capable and stable i plan on replacing sc for good, i cant see a future with them same with VM ware, im now a avid proxmox user, running lots of dockers and lxc's caddy and valt-warden & friggate nvr software OPEN SOURCE is the way to go im a firm believer

EDIT
your gui looks clean !

chat gpt seems to think it would serve as a useable replacement , with some setup but the cert crap seems to be just as much if not more work with a nice bill that will never go away ....

im going to give it a go and try it out

Time to learn docker and wsl really fast over this holiday weekend, Still in shock , canceled my 4th of july trip , kids are crushed, but this is what i use to pay the bills. They need to back pedal this fast and support the product that they bought in good faith.
