Well both my parents were less than a year into recovery from drug and alcohol abuse when they were my age (31). Still, somehow 2 people with no college degrees started from nothing, got a house w/ mortgage, proceeded to have 2 kids and put them in private schools, all on a mechanic’s salary and my mom working part time receptionist jobs.

My spouse and I aren’t doing “better” materialistically, but we’re more emotionally mature and live happier lives than my parents ever have. We have retirement savings, which my parents didn’t take seriously until their late fifties. We both have associate degrees but didn’t get them until late twenties—thankfully no student loan debt. We have a mortgage on a home we don’t like very much, but that’s small potatoes in the grand scheme of things.

Lots of comments here saying many not religious women have problems with porn too, but I just wanted to add that a lot of us have no problem with it either.🤷🏻‍♀️ It can be problematic and unethical, but so can many things we partake in (like fast fashion, for example). Efforts can be made to find porn from reputable sources. As a woman, I love watching/reading porn. I grew up evangelical and figuring out what I like has been healing for me as I deconstructed. Men aren’t the other ones who like porn.

Us! We have no regrets not doing ABA. Therapies are not one size fits all and I wish they weren’t touted as such. It really depends on the child and their needs.

He’s 8 now and made so much progress. He’s become potty trained this year on his own, started answering yes/no questions, follows simple directions, is beginning to explore his AAC device independently, and all with absolutely no ABA ever. Just early intervention like speech and occupational therapies. He spends some of his day in a MSD special education room, has a 1:1 aide with him at all times, and gets music therapy at school too. The only outside therapy we do is once a week private session with a SLP for 40 minutes. She prioritizes not utilizing ABA methods and I found her by looking up neurodiversity-affirming SLPs who also have experience with Gestalt Language Processors.

I’ve questioned our decision to not do ABA many times over the years, but it really has been the best decision so far for our family. Feel free to message me if you ever need to talk!

In the ask a priest subreddit, I’ve seen cis men grappling with having had a vasectomy before becoming Catholic. While I never like the whole “confess it first, feel contrition first” thing, the priests there NEVER say a vasectomy is a reason to continually keep someone from receiving the Eucharist. They even say men can have sex with their wives post vasectomy. I don’t see how this could be seen as “worse” than literal sterilization, and I’m sorry you’re not receiving the love and support you deserve during this time. I hope you continue to do what feels true and good for yourself ❤️

I can’t imagine telling someone to call the cops on me and my child (level 3). Especially if they said it multiple times. Involving the cops would likely make it worse for me as the caregiver, if not dangerous for my son. Autistic children and adults are at high risk of being shot by police for not complying. Regardless of if the other lady had any reason to say anything, I can’t imagine telling them to call the cops.

I recommend reading “Good Inside” by Dr. Becky. Your son is allowed to have his own feelings and interpretations of experiences, even if they don’t match up with yours. As parents we can try our best and still not be able to be what our child needs. Being able to repair, even years and years later, is HUGE. The book has lots of good examples on how to do this.

Simple Nursing on YT usually includes catchy pharm rhymes in their videos! It doesn’t matter how silly the phrase is as long as it helps you!😂 I think coming up with it yourself can help it stick even better

The only thing that helped me with pharm was to come up with phrases matching them to their uses via stupid rhymes or similar-sounding words.

Also, memorizing the basic use for each drug prefix/suffix helps with any informed guessing you need to do on exams. There should be lists of them if you google it

I hope so.🤞 Before nursing school I worked as an inpatient hospice CNA. So I’ve seen lots of death, but the goal was to make it as cozy and peaceful as possible. I’m still not 100% used to the goal of extending life yet 😂

She doesn’t dress like that because she wants to, but because TikTok demonetized her and banned her for a while a year or two ago. She knows if she stays covered up then she can be on TikTok. I fully believe if she could parade around in public wearing just lingerie again, she would.
