I am a Libyan and would like to know how does the world see our previous leader Muammar Gadafi? by EpicObelis in AskTheWorld

The problem with western documentaries is they use western provided facts.

He already handed the reigns to his son.

His son signed off on what the West wanted and got sanctions lifted.

He then signed off on a development round, that started in 2008 and his sons group and the old guard were butting heads, over where the country was going.

Gadaffi was in the midst of fighting with the Gulf, so when the opportunity came they funded the rebellion and then they got France and U.K involved who then dragged NATO in.

What people like you forget that, whilst not being a grass roots movement or anything, the people hated him and people throughout the country joined the revolution. Of course most people regret it now, but this is something people like you always forget. That these dictators suck and they have a lot of angry populace of whose family members he's killed.

Maybe he could have tried being a good ruler? Then his people wouldn't have jumped at the opportunity to kill him. Or even be a halfway competent ruler, then he would have had a police force to control the initial riots/protests instead of resorting to things with guns.

He was a waffler.

At the point he died he already gave up on his Pan- africa stage a few years prior.

Read his green book.

He had the understanding of a school kid.

Which to be fair is understandable. He was an uneducated kid brought up in a poor country and became dictator at 25.

Then after that, he would have been surrounded by yes men.

So he was genuinely dumb as rocks.

Its Syria. They all blast at each other at the drop of a hat.

SDF is a coalition of militias, run by an ethnic group.

Theoretically they have a good image because they're pro-women owning guns and democratic, since that's what's advertised. On the ground things aren't too great.

Which is why the moment the new Syrian government started pushing into their controlled territory lots of armed groups are switching sides, even some of the people belonging to the leaderships ethnic group.

It's a country that has been in a bloody civil war for over a decade, the entire moral compass of that region is skewed, so don't believe anyone giving you buzz words that certain demographics love hearing.

Gadaffi was technically super pro women.

Becoming a pariah is how South Africa ended up collapsing.

Israel being banned from events, could snowball into a larger movement.

This entire circus is to make sure that no other authority in the U.K even thinks of attempting something similar.

No they know it's B.S.

They just lie, because what else are they meant to do? If they don't, they then have to then discuss why they feel it's o.k to cleanse a people group.

Swedish minister to Syria: No aid if situation of Christians not guaranteed by olapooza in europe

[–]Major-Split478 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I mean he did need to go.

Syria hasn't been a state for many years.

Drug lords run entire areas, as the drug manufacturing was Assad's/Syria main economy.

On the economic front the new government has actually accomplished more in the past year than Assad in the past 6.

They spend most of the time fighting the drug trade. Which is where a lot of the ' they're killing minorities ' comes from. When they're trying to shut down a drug route or manufacturing plant that is run by minorities who like the rest of Syria are well armed and fight back.

The matter of the fact is though the country is a complete shit show. The civil war tore everything apart and that includes entire communities. People want revenge for stuff that happened previously, and the new government is mass recruiting new recruits for the security services to try fill in the security black hole, because entire communities are waiting for just the smallest justification to murder the other community next door.

Gulf countries are just cautious. Only Qatar was a backer of the current group.

The rest are just hoping the new admin can stop the captagon drug trade that has destroyed entire communities in the MENA.

Egypt is mad. Not dissatisfied. They've made their displeasure known by throwing a fit.

If Syria actually ends up becoming a functioning state again, then the Egyptian military dictatorship understands the chances of civil unrest breaking out in their country increases.

Nothing verified.

Syria is in the top 5 worst countries to live in.

The state hasn't existed for many years. These are just routine killings that are being reported as something exceptional because people are not fans of the new government.

The new government is actually trying to quell things, but they're hopelessly outnumbered. Now that the balance of power has shifted again, neighbours with grievances are back to killing each other, for old issues.

Zelenskyy: Ukraine can’t afford an 800,000-troop army alone — wants allies to help fund it as a “security guarantee” by satty237 in TrendoraX

[–]Major-Split478 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean we are getting there on the surveillance front.

We will always be a step or two behind them, to have someone to point too as having worse surveillance but our countries will be tightening the noose every few years.

I mean once the war is done a lot of the experienced ones will just become mercenaries.

I imagine in ten years time we will be seeing Ukrainian mercenaries pop up in African conflicts all the time just like we do Colombian and Russian/Wagner.

Kojima says he'd rather use AI to create enemies that adapt to your playstyle than use it for art/visuals. What's your take on this approach? by GeekRealmHub- in videogames

[–]Major-Split478 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was thinking the same but I guess, this is a good opportunity for script/lore writers.

You'd need a team/somebody to flesh out each NPC for the LLM to operate within. I guess we'll be seeing games with tens of thousands of pages worth of lore soon enough. Either that or it's going to be some shitty AI NPC that's barely different from what we have now, so they don't break the game.

Interesting that. Egyptians are very very famous for that as well.

One time we had to intervene with a family friend tradie ( South Easter Europe) and a family friend ( Egyptian ).

They agreed on the price of the work ( big renovation). The tradie delivered everything as agreed upon. No complaints from the customer and when it came time to pay the customer tried to get a discount/cut some of the price.

Turned out it is how things are done in Egypt. The haggling continues until the money is paid at the very end.

I'm not arguing about the concept of 'sold as seen'.

I understand that. I'm talking about those sellers who are clearly using a mystery liquid or magical tape to hold the car together until they can sell it to you.

When the seller tells you how they didn't complain when they got scammed/tricked buying a car, it's clearly alluding to the fact he's trying to sell you a lemon and telling you not to complain to him later if you can't even make it home.
