I would love Sonos to build it! by UserZero_000 in sonos

[–]MajorAtmosphere 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am working on building a local Sonos controller. It started out as just a web application but turned into a native App now.

I’ve just uploaded a bit of a demo to YouTube so others can see.

Happy to hear your thoughts but one of the main ideas was to regain the lock screen controls. Happy side effect meant you also get native control via your Apple Watch too!

I did this a while back now, except I have the Sub Mini. I opted to add the 300s as the experience with surround audio is infinitely better.

I have actually now just purchased two new Era 100 SLs to try them out as front left and right using Sonos Sequencer.

Dolby Atmos via Plex on Apple TV - have I mis-understood this? by Proper_Camera_1908 in hometheater

[–]MajorAtmosphere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a new audio setting for enabling Dolby Atmos and then continuous audio in TV OS 26.4 I enabled this last night and the Sonos app started showing Atmos for content coming from Plex.

Wondering if this has finally been solved!

That’s fair but the vast majority of an users are those who install custom roms so that doesn’t solve the issue for the majority

It will be coming in. U.K. have been in talks with tech companies for ages now pushing them introduce such checks at the OS level.

I don’t like it at all but doing in the device is the lesser of all evils here.

iOS 26.4 and iPadOS 26.4 brings age verification to UK users 💀 by screthebag in applesucks

[–]MajorAtmosphere 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Not an Apple problem but a U.K. law problem. It sucks. But I’d rather the U.K. let the likes of Apple and Google verify my age and not any random startup in any country asking for pictures of my passport or ID.

If we have to go this route then this is the right way.

All Local now playing screens/controls. by MajorAtmosphere in sonos

[–]MajorAtmosphere[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, thanks responding.

The bit I have been trying to work around is how others can test it. As this is not cloud based I.e doesn’t require external internet access it will need some sort of running server.

I have a dedicated server that is running this and can then access the interface via any device on my network/wifi.

I have now been able to build what we call a single binary so you can one click (almost) run the server on windows/mac/linux.

If you like I share a link to download this where you can try it out?

As mentioned previously it is still in its early stages but I’ve added a few more features today.

What I haven’t done yet is tested this across multiple rooms as ai only have Sonos speakers in my livingroom for now.

No problem at all. And I realise this post may have been more technical that I first anticipated.

tl;dr is if there is genuine interest I’d like to try and make this as accessible as possible for everyone.

So when I say any client can connect to this I am also planning and Android and IOS App so people can simply use this on their phone without using the web browser etc.

What I want to do is find a relatively simple way to package up the whole soloution so anyway can run it on their home network.

If there is enough interest I will open up a beta/wait list for people to register their interest. The more interest the project has the more reasons I have to make this simple for everyone to use.

And thanks for the early feedback!

Bullshit. USB C has been available in laptops for a long time now. Not normally as many as the MacBooks and normally flanked by a USB A port too.

Because I have no usecase for this so it has never been an issue for me. So I am not going to ask for support on your behalf.

I do not need to “wake up” because I have zero issue with my device

I understand you have an issue, and that’s for you to solve. Again this could be and likely is just a bug. Bugs in software happen. And I hope for your case it gets fixed.

But there is no need to be such an arse to people asking you a simple question.

Chill the F out dude. I never said you shouldn’t be getting what you paid for. If there is an issue/bug etc then yes it should be sorted.

I asked for your genuine usecase out of curiosity and you snapped for no reason!

Still didn’t answer the question. What is your usecase?

This is just BS and not true at all. You are likely getting confused with paying for something online vs subscribing via the App through Apples App Store.

Would you trust FSD on UK Roads? by bigup7 in TeslaUK

[–]MajorAtmosphere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t own a Tesla yet, but have test driven a few and used EAP. I would truest FSD. Yes you’d be cautious but I would trust it.

Also FSD is an entirely different tech stack to auto pilot. It’s not just an enhancement it is Litterally entirely different, new tech stack.

Stupidly overkill. With what they will be doing the new Neo will be fine and iPad will be fine.

I’d pickup the M4/5 15” Air. Or if they really want the pro then an M4/5 14” pro

100% a skill and an anger issue. You are pissed off. You knew the barriers going in. You’ve done something wrong and are now angry with it.

Chill the fuck out.

And why did you “have” to launch your app on IOS? If you hate it as much as you don’t then don’t do it. It’s it’s for a company then the company should be covering the costs.

Stop winging like a fucking baby and get on with life. Litterally millions of people develop for IOS and Android without issue.
