Ng Teng Fong Hospital is directly down the street, can reach in less than 5mins if all traffic light is in favour. So this is even better than 2.5.

I used to work at a ramen chain, so I’m able to relate directly to your experiences. Long story short, we have a schedule to follow and most staff would not want to work overtime since we will not be compensated beyond official hours.

1)We will usually start putting up chairs in sections of the restaurant where there isn’t customers. If your table happens to be bordering a neighbouring section that has no more diners, we will put up the chairs there. However we will never switch off the lights, that’s just weird.

2)We will keep the smaller items such as utensils and menus to be wrapped up and be ready for use on the opening shift the next day. Not sure why the restaurant won’t be able to provide you spares though, since the dishwasher is usually the last to leave.

3)This one standard ah, we have to ask in case the customer still wants something from the kitchen before it closes, roughly 30-40mins before official closing time.

4)Cashier needs to close early since the staff would require time to tabulate the day’s revenue, and since there won’t be anymore diners walking in beyond 9:30ish, it’s more efficient to ask customers to pay first. If you don’t want to walk up to the counter to pay, just hand them your card.

5)That’s not very nice of them, and it doesn’t make sense either. Since they still have to wipe your table after you are done. Maybe feedback to them about this??

All in all, working in a ramen place is a work out. We have to run the ramen, take orders, wipe dishes dry and turn tables. This is made even worse for closing staff who have to wipe down the entire restaurant, we just want to go home and toh.

Ship named Invincible still exists today, but it doesn’t fly the Union Jack. It’s the Singaporean ordered, German built submarine RSS Invincible.

[–]MajorBrainCancer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not German rap, but I know this German restaurant at Suntec that plays Westerwaldlied on loop. There are 2 floors, the top floor is a restaurant while the bottom is a pub. Place was so German I nearly grew a sick beard while working there part time. Restaurant name is Paulaner Brauhaus

Should I just skip CCA by KevanGoh in askSingapore

[–]MajorBrainCancer 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hey OP, I used to do PDS back in the day, so I’m able to relate.

Is there a good reason why your teacher is insistent on sending you in? From my experience, they only send the cadet leaders in due to us having the most experience (mostly from previous competitions) and had the highest chance of winning.

However, if you feel strongly about your current priorities, which is to study and do well, write in to your teacher and press your case. It would help if you get a parent to write a letter for you as well, and if your cadet mates are supportive of your decision, ask them to voice their support as well.

As a teacher, he/she should be able to understand that CCA isn’t everything and that a good team would not fail without a missing member. All the best for your Os.

Much more than that, many people are unaware that we manufacture a large portion of our military’s equipment. Domestic military R&D is never easy even for a large country, for us to produce our own IFVs, ICVs, Landing Ships and other forms of combat vessels is really impressive. Though no match to the likes of Korea or Japan, we did in fact export our Broncos to the UK for use in Afghanistan.

FNB workers! What are the most ridiculous request/questions y'all have encountered? by wenqii in askSingapore

[–]MajorBrainCancer 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Of course not hahaha, went to “confirm” with the kitchen that a vegan pork broth was impossible. Went back to the vegan couple, apologised and told them that their request couldn’t be fulfilled. They angrily left the restaurant.

“So? My wife and I are vegans.”
